One of the (very attractive Hispanic) married girls I work with found out this week that her neighborhood is known for swingers. She had no idea until someone mentioned something about it to her. Her first reaction? She was pissed that no one had tried to hit on her in the ~2 years that her family has lived there

I had lunch with my Dad the other day and afterwards I needed to stop and see a client downtown. We're stopped at an exit ramp and there is this guy begging for money, nothing unusual for where we were at. My Dad see's him, points and says "oh look at that poor guy". Waves him over and give him a ten. I've become too jaded over the years. I love my Dad. Heart of gold. Ever since I was little kid I've watched him give his old clothes, shoes and sometimes even bottles of booze to homeless people. I'm really lucky to have such a great teacher. I need to pay attention more.

Hanging out with my daughter today...some show she was watching ended and it went straight to news about CT. She said, "was that about the shooting?" I asked whether she had talked about it in school and she asked, "which one?" Sucks that any kid would ever have to ask that question.

I feel bad for kids having access to instant news all the time. I was blissfully ignorant and just watched cartoons and sports.
