For some reason I came into the office today. I got here at the crack of 9 and will be leaving in about 30 minutes. We've been working on a huge project since the first of November that needs about 25MM in financing. We are almost fully funded for this and our strategy has been playing out nicely. We may yet live to see another day here at Portal Capital.
Today, we'll take the kids to the Saturday Market downtown, where I'll give the boys $20 and tell them to buy something for their mom and step-mom. I always enjoy watching them make their purchases. They are so different. Kellen will take his time with it, carefully weighing his options before purchasing. I even watched him successfully talk a vendor down once because he didn't have enough money. Coop, on the other hand, can get rid of the money fast enough. This child must never ever go to Las Vegas.
From there, we'll take the boys to Urban Farmer at the Hotel Nines, where they boys will have hot chocolate and we'll have adult beverages. And then it is off to church for the 5pm xmas eve service, which makes my mother very happy. She and I have fought for over 20 years on religion, but I'm thankful we both have reached a place where we respect each other's beliefs and views. All she asks is we go for Xmas with the kids. That's not asking too much and I kind of enjoy the service around the holidays.
Dinner at her house afterwards. Will be interesting to see how the interaction goes between us and my sister. We have been riding her pretty hard over the last few weeks because she is really in a bad spot. We think she is putting herself before her kids and her oldest child needs some help. We are begging her to get him some therapy to work through some issues, but she hates us for suggesting that and has been very angry with us. It's been pretty bad all the way around. I'm sure there will be some drama.
And then it's off to Detroit in December for a week, every man's dream come true.
Fly out on Christmas Day and back on New Years. 7am flight on New Year's Day. What could possibly go wrong with that?
