GM's thread about nothing (11 Viewers)

Got in the car this morning to see on the display that the "VSC isn't functioning, see a dealer" and well as the engine light being on. First thing I did was check the gas cap. It was loose so I tightened it. Still on. So I drove around, made 5 stops and it was still on. After getting contradicting results via Internet searches, I finally succumb and call the dealer.$93.46 later, I'm told, wait for it, that gas cap must have not been on completely at one time, there's nothing wrong. I ask the guy why it didn't reset when I tightened it and he replied "*chuckle* oh it can sometimes take weeks to reset on it's own".I feel violated.
Why the #### did you agree to pay?

Maybe 1 or 2 a month. I really wish I would have documented them all, would be a funny list to look at all the stupid #### I've been asked over the years. :lmao: Does anyone know how this even started?

I attempted a redirect back to you. Let me know if it hits.
Got it, but I didn't konw it was a redirect, I thought he was still bugging me, so I just told him he'd been fished.

"I want to take the red pill and go down the rabbit hole."

Need some Throprawishes for those that have some to spare.

Mom is in ICU with double pneumonia. She is on a ventilator and not breathing on her own. Her medical condition with the Sclerodermia makes treatment tricker.

My mom has clearly started her wish for DNR and not to be on machines. I didn't even think about the ventilator being a machine. She can just be pissed if she makes it.

Stay strong, man. I hope she pulls through.

Sorry to hear, T&Ps.

Thoprawishes, GB.

I'm going to be a jackass here and ask a semi-related question, because I'm curious now. Not necessarily looking to Bogart for an answer, though.

How do they handle that decision when there's a DNR? Personally, I don't want to be kept alive on a machine if there's nothing that can be done to permanently bring me back to a functional state within a reasonable time frame (subjective, I know). I just don't want to live forever on a machine on a hope and a prayer and nothing more. But I also don't want somebody pulling the plug if it's just some deal that a month from now something will pass through my system and THEN they can operate. Or give me drugs. Or whatever. Which is almost what it sounds like Bogart is saying. Are there distinctions for these kinds of things within a DNR or is it just a generic form or what?

Just name me your HCPOA, GB. I'll make sure they do it right.

I identified 4 criteria for that role:1. Male2. Level-headed and knows me well3. Unlikely to conspire for a chunk of the insurance money4. Unlikely to make a snap decision to get widow sexYou cleared at least 3 hurdles. And if anything ever happens to WetDream, you'll be at the top of the list of replacements.

What? Me? I would never? The whole idea is... Second thought. WetDream is a good choice. Just pray the Mrs. didn't make the same choice.

Thanks for all the good thoughts. This thread continues to amaze me. They pulled her out of ICU this morning and pulled the ventilator as she is breathing on her own.

Yep Buck, that's her.

As for the DNR, I have medical power of attorney and also being next of kin in Texas, I can make that decision for my mom. I will admit, I was not ready to make that decision last night, but more ready than I thought I would be, if that makes any sense.

I asked the nurse how it would work with her in this situation, and she talked of slowly weening the patient off the machine and letting nature take its course.

Last night made me realize we have a lot of #### to get in order. I thought I had affairs in order, but as I sat there taking inventory of what needed to be done, I'm not even close.
