GM's thread about nothing (17 Viewers)

So everybody is still pretending Ray Lewis isn't a murderer. Got it.
I don't think Ray is innocent but I wouldn't call it murder. The two guys who died provoked a fight with Ray's group. They didn't deserve to die over it but it could easily have been Ray dead in that situation. Burros, a friend of the guys who died, admitted to attempted murder as Ray's limo was driving a way.

Delivery?
Yeah, that's not a huge industry here in Portland. Delivery options for me are Jimmy Johns and pizza. I've only had 3 beers since 1pm, so I could man up and drive, but it is so cold out and I'm all wrapped up in my slanket.

In addition to the potential libel issues, I hate seeing everything set out with such precision when you might wish to bring a civil suit. No reason to put all of the information immediately in the hands of the opposing party's (or parties') lawyers.

I attempted to join that Facebook group to see what you are talking about.
My nephew, the brother of the one that was killed, put along, detailed post on FB about the events of the day and night when my nephew was killed. Bad idea jeans.ETA I told him to delete it, he says he doesn't care and won't. *sigh*

Wish I could really help. Sorry for everything you guys are going through. I can understand your nephew's desire to share that (and it was very well written) and to vent; unfortunately it's really not a great idea to do it so publicly. Hopefully it won't cause any issues.

You have helped and I appreciate it. Like his little brother he is very strong but he's also tall and has a temper. I've been able to keep him somewhat grounded in that he hasn't gotten retribution at his own hand. I guess he just needs to do something. I need a drink.

I'm not a member of that group either, but I completely agree with Krista. Get him to take it down ASAP. It might be cathartic but it's bad in every other way.

Just a quick question for you guys in this thread, and I guess to GM, since he started it... when you started this thread, did you envision what it would become?

I'm asking from this standpoint: I've checked in and out of the FFA off and on for a few years, but I've never been what you'd call a "regular" to the forum. I'd always see this thread title on the first page, and usually ear the top, but never clicked on it.

The past few weeks I've spent a little more time in the FFA and finally clicked on the thread one day. Of course I didn't go back to the beginning, but I lurked and read the last few pages at the time. Over the past few weeks I've casually read it a bit more.

Now, I don't know any of you at all, outside of playing some fantasy sports with a few of you... (and pissed off a few in the process, not my best moment) :bag: But it is pretty cool to see what you guys have going here, a community within the thread, the FB group, the coshole, etc.

So I was just curious if the goal in starting the thread was to have these "regulars" post in here to keep up with each other or if that's what the thread evolved into over time...

Apologies for lurking on your thread :)

It's sad that people can't even vent in their own way. : (

These e-cigs ain't half bad. Got my kit delivered yesterday. I've still smoked some regulars, but less than half of what I would've smoked yesterday and I've only had 3 today (normally would have had 9 or 10 by now). The taste is like a regular cigarette and I think the nicotene is higher than my nornal cig. It's a different experience in that - unlike lighting up - you don't take in nicotene in 5 minute burts, then go without for an hour. With these, I just take a hit every few minutes. THAT'S going to be hardest thing - the whole routine is new.
Even at 36mg, I believe the nic level is still lower than a regular cig. Even if the e-cig is higher, it's better to start high and step down, rather than start low and give up because it's not helping enough. I started at 24mg, and use between an 8-11 now. Similar to EG, I'm certain I could put them down now if I wanted to, but I enjoy blasting away.Started vaping on Feb. 12th 2011, last cig on the 14th. I'm not nearly the expert that some of the guys in the ecig thread are, but if you have any questions let me know.
Thanks, T. No doubt I'll need some support.
Way to UH. I have been wanting to do this for quite a while now. Spent a lot of time in the ecig thread and got as confused there as I have with my "trying to bluetooth connect my laptop to my stereo" research. It is a scary thing you are doing - after spending so many years at it. Be strong on all fronts.

Anyway, rooting for Baltimore today to close up some teasers.

And to add to my :moneybag:

Benefica/Estorial o2.5

Also really love Napoli/Roma over, but they've lined this so high I really might need to pass.

g'luck
Got +350 on the o3.5. Not making this up. But, we've got some work to do in the second half.

Agreed. And as much as I was glad (?) to read it, I don't know that your reposting it on FB is the best thing either. I would think you might want to reconsider, but I'm no lawyer-type.

You guys and the rest of the GMTAN have been good friends for a long time. It means a lot.
Someone please pm/link/email me a copy.
I put it back up, will be deleting again later.
Bob - sweet jesus. What was the reason the State said they weren't going to proceed?
They said there wasn't enough evidence to directly link this ########## to his death. I just don't get it.I've also pleaded with him to delete the post. He is refusing. I texted somebody very important to him asking for his help. We'll see if he has better results.

I got some more stuff from Sofa yesterday. You really shouldn't have GB. In the package was a nice shirt, some gel for bald guys and best of all, a Brenda Warner autobiography. She actually looks pretty hot on the cover. May have to incorporate this somehow.
LMFAO
:lmao: I love amazon. Had a bunch of stuff in the cart that I was going to kick out and couldn't decide, so you got it all.
I was friggin' cracking up so hard after seeing that cat in a pocket t-shirt that I had to show my g/f. She cracked up as well. I'm still laughing. I have to get that shirt.

I don't even remember what the topic was that GM originally started but if you look at the first page, it went nowhere fast. The (d?)evolution of this thread has been interesting to watch and be a part of, that's for sure. I don't think anyone could have predicted a 2000+ page thread, 3 years running.

Can't speak for anyone else, but this thread sort of formed organically (sorry, pickles--we should retire that phrase). GM is one of the most well-liked posters around here, and the thread attracted funny, mellow people. As this thing was taking off, the rest of the FFA seemed to be free-falling into crap led by a wave of new and horrid posters. Many of us just simply stopped venturing out into the rest of the FFA much, since all the entertainment you could want can be found here, the gambling thread and the drunk thread. Bunch of clever, funny, semi-like minded miscreants have formed a dysfunctional community. Almost everyone that has wanted to participate has been welcomed, since this thread has no politics, religion, or serious division (except age and dumb married bastards).

:goodposting: I lurked for the longest time in this thread. I've interacted with various regulars on various topics for over a decade (The Underground, book thread, college hoops), but I normally felt like an outsider in here. That's not because of anyone being rude - I just didn't know what the hell these people were talking about (still don't, for the most part). Now, in a matter of several months, I've rented a vacation home in Central America from one of the regulars and am meeting many of these derelicts in Austin in a few weeks. This thread has allowed me - without doing a "look at me" thread - to vent about some pretty heavy stuff. Here's my take on why this thread is what it's become: there are some here who may skate on thin FFA ice from time to time. I think that maybe some of the powers that be feel that it's better to have some valuable-but-risk-taking members in a kind of FFA rubber room. Hell, I've posted stuff in this thread - in wording, if not subject matter - that may have gotten me in trouble out in the general public.

Cincinnatian's, what happened to Verbal Kent?
PM'd him a while back with no response. Hasn't been on the site in ages :sadbanana:
I actually met that guy in real life. Several years back, he showed up at a FFToday (I had the same handle there as here before it got axed and I went with Plorfu) version of cornhole with a couple of other posters. I can't remember his name over there. We went to a Reds/Pirates game in Cincy. It was cold, raining, the Buccos won and he almost choked to death on a hot dog. He was a good guy, though. Hammered beyong belief, as was I. Hope he's ok.

:goodposting: This is another of those episodes that people "know wrong". Lewis did a lot of things wrong - ditched his clothes, lied to the police, had a lot of bad hombres around him. Many years ago, a bunch of friends & I were out for a bachelor party. We had rented an RV and done the DC strip club thing. Being drunk/high/young, we decided it would be a fantastic idea to hit Burger King in Annapolis on the way in. We parked across the street and those of us not passed out walked over to order 70,000 Whoppers. As I'm standing in line, I hear one of my friends tell a Midshipman "If my girlfriend were that ugly, I'd only take her out at 4 a.m. too". Next I remember, it's like one of those barroom brawls in an old Western. The image that sticks with me until I die is some Middie trying Kung Fu on my brother. In any case, I think Lewis surrounded himself with not-so-good people at the time and had bought into the "I'm a BAD man" that his leeches were feeding him. I give him credit for apparently turning his life around afterwards (I'm betting his momma smacked him upside the head after Atlanta).

With all due respect to Uruk and roadkill and other respectable Raven's fans, Ray Lewis' post game interview made me want to vomit.
Understood, GB. I still want to drive a 4' length of #11 rebar through Hines Ward's face every time I see him on TV.
