Just an FYI for you remarried guys, saying you are reminded of the previous marriage in the heat of the moment in an argument with your wife is really, really, really not something you want to do. :bag: Pretty sure I deserve this nice spot in the doghouse right now
Come on in. We have Diet Coke and cable TV.

Ooooof. I did that once. ONCE. And as the words were flowing out of my mouth I could feel myself lunge after them to put them back where they came from. Not. Advised.

It's all good, my friend. That last post was about as aggressive as my sorry ### gets.As I've gotten older, it's more important to me to see a larger group be happy even if it's not the team I'm on.

Oh YOU didn't do anything. I posted a story :e:lsewhere today that I can't really post for public consumption, but rest assured I will be rooting on the Ravens on Sunday. I've got $1,300 reasons to root them on. At least, I sure hope I do.

I like a divided crowd. It like a party hedge, at least some of them will go home happy

Literally the only team I would root harder against is DAL. I'll be backing SF all the way...until I handicap the game, that is

In on the 49ers hate stemming from childhood, though I do like the spunky young QB and would want Harbaugh as coach of my team over anybody else in the business. He gets a lot of criticism, but man, I love his style. Give me a coach that blows a fuse over a Jason Garret or an Andy Reid any day of the week. Go NUTS!

I would literally gay tongue-kiss Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh is like Dennis Rodman, Ron Artest, or Richard Sherman. On the team you root for, you love them. On anybody else's team, you hate them.

Are any peeps driving from Dallas to Austin or did I imagine that?
Bogart's bringing unialias and disco stu
Bogie: details plz
Leaving sometime Friday. Coming back sometime Monday. There is an open spot still available, and I will pick you up wherever you need to be picked up from.
No specifics on times? Flying into DFW vs AUS is almost a $300 difference, so it seems like the shark move. I'll PM you some additional info...Check that, you can't receive any more PMs.

That is a lot smarter than what I did, which was point out the absurdity of what she said. I could just block emails using my spam filter I guess.

Ok - so I've been on the fence and still am because my mom is in the hospital. She's been in there since 1/1, but things are looking up a bit and it seems it's only a matter of time before she comes home. However, the target date is around 2/6, so if I got I want to make damn sure she's close to returning and feeling great.Flights to Austin are $550 from here, but only $277 if I go to DFW. I have some flexibility on flight times too, so that's why I was wondering on times. I was kind of planning on getting in by 11am-12noon or so and leaving on Monday sometime in the afternoon. If you guys were thinking differently though I should be able to adjust accordingly. So, I'd like to give it a couple of days, see how my mom progresses and then likely book a flight. I'd be happy to chip in for gas or whatever as well.

Very cool story regarding my dad...My dad and a bunch of guys he went to HS with (we're talking the classes of 1950-1954 or so here) have held a monthly poker game. First Friday of the month...every month...for close to 60 years. About 15 years ago the local paper did a story on the game. My step-mom calls me up last night. My dad's best friend and my godfather came over to see my step-mom. He hands her a check for $2100. He tells her to spend it on the lunch/reception that we're having for dad at one of the local Basque places (dad's favorite). It seems that the poker guys made an agreement back when they first started that if the kitty didn't add up or if someone won big and they felt like "tipping" that money would be thrown into a special fund. They agreed that when the first of them passed away they would use the money to throw a party. Unbelievably my dad was the first of them (at the age of 79) to go. Obviously, if you do the math, only two or three bucks was put into the fund each game. My first reaction when my step-mom told me was (since I know a lot of these old bastards) was "You mean somebody didn't walk off with it years ago?" She couldn't believe it either. So freaking crazy that a bunch of 18-19 year olds made a pact and stuck with it for nearly 60 years. Awesome.

Yes.
Of the 6-8 regulars that I started playing poker with around that age, 1 is dead of a heroin overdose, 2 others have a combined 4 DUIs, 1 has done time for dealing and has also filed for bankruptcy. There's no way those degenerates wouldn't have blown that fund along the way.

Sorry, I opened up space, just to have it filled up. Cleaned up some more.Of course I understand about taking care of your mom, see what happens over the next day or two. The seat is open for you either way. Your times sound about right. No worries about chipping in. Stu is holding a special fundraiser for our gas costs. I could tell you about it, but you probably haven't heard about it before.

That story is awesome on so many levels.
