GM's thread about nothing (38 Viewers)

Is there a black market to get/fix an ipad screen that shattered or do I have to bite the bullet and pay the apple store like 8 billion dollars?
Did you get AppleCare? If so, I would think it would be covered.I have AppleCare for my daughters iphone and the power button is broke. She is 90+ miles away from an Apple Store. They said they would send her a new one but put a "Pending Charge" on my credit card until she sent the old one back. They had problems with the CC machine and it charged my card 17 times. My card is now locked under a fraud action.arrrgggghhhhhhBut hey, I hear AppleCare is good.

If a random black man complements you on your shirt, that's a good thing, right?Stu, please advise...
Likely. Fist bump involved?This shirt?
Plaid Thomas Dean. No fist bump, but he did pull my collar back to see the pattern on the other side.
Sorry to hear about you getting pickpocketed.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: THERE HE IS!!! :excited:
Explain this shtick please.
Yeah, I have no idea. They started using it in the Wagering thread and it seems catchy enough. I'm sure Truckiasasoppo could explain it.
It's a way of greeting someone who has been away from said thread for awhile. Dunno if there's much to it beyond that.I'm a fan.

Whenever a black woman compliments us on one of our daughter's outfits, I always think it's a much bigger compliment than if it came from a honky.
Black people always walk on the other side of the street when I see them.
:bs: I didn't see a single black person when I was in Portland.
Yeah, because you were walking with me.
It probably takes them a second to realize that just his skin, and not someone wearing sheets.

I recall you asking for advice about what to do about the dilemma of going through this torture test until you can get the bonus or leaving. My advice at the time was to quit, with the understanding that it was an awful, toxic environment that was giving you physical ill. That advice stands. If this is pushing you to that brink, walk away. Today. Now. Nothing is worth this kind of pain. You need to look out for yourself first. If you're fine, then you can start to think about how your actions will impact others in the company. In effect, you're all there doing work willingly. If something is that terrible, leave. I don't know what other advice to give you. I know you're a soldier and want to see whatever it is through, but the toll it has and will take isn't worth it. You have every ability to get away from this, so do that. It's difficult to see someone willingly heap all of this trouble on themselves when the remedy is fairly apparent. You don't need or particularly care about the bonus, so move on. There are only so many ways to say this.
My advice was to stick it out. That was bad advice. Quit tomorrow. Other people will be ok.

Stu, Uni and I will be leaving Dallas around 11am Friday morning. Factoring in a stop in West for kolaches, we should be arriving at Chez Cos around 3pm.

SLB, hit the basement if you haven't already (not with your head) - Tornado Warnings in your area
Yep, right when I pull in the driveway the sirens went off. They boys were wrapping up school at the same time so I headed up there to pick them up. There were a bunch of parents there already and I was quite annoyed I had to wait as if I was just some ordinary person. Then the sirens go off again. The principal tells all the kids to get in the tornado drill position. There is nothing like seeing hundreds of little kids doing the duck and cover in the hallway. Brought back some fond memories of being vaporized during the cold war. Anyhow, we're all safe although we're getting some much needed hard, pounding, wet, rain.

Have an interview Thursday. I'm way overqualified but it gets me talking to some hiring managers and moves me in to the system quicker.

strykerpks, I just wanted to say that I think you're a good feller. And, fwiw, I remember very, very fondly times when I was younger (say your age), not making a lot of money, with a new wife, a new child (or two), and living literally pay check to pay check, and I'm not going to say those were the best days of my life, but they were AWESOME days of my life.<sniff sniff>
Why aren't you coming to Coshole? You're like the next town over. I'll buy you a Coors Light.
I know, I know, still haven't completely ruled it out. Would honestly like to meet quite a few people that will be there, including yourself. And I've never been to Austin..... :bag:
What side of town are you in? I'm contemplating driving up Saturday, back Sunday. Still pending people surviving and not dying on me before the weekend
I thought you were gonna be there the whole weekend. Not sure if I can get my fill of giant Swede in only one day. :kicksrock:

That was the plan, but one relative in hospice, who might not make it trough tonight if I believe the latest update, and one in critical care after a stroke who might go shortly afterETA: no need for sympathy or well wishes. It's relatives on my wife's side, one an evil ******* that should've gone long ago and strokey, who possibly could be worse. Not very well liked, but still family, and if wife needs to go I will be on kid duty.

I've been kind of out of it for a few days. Do I have this right--here we managed to somehow run off Krista, who's been nothing but kind to a bunch of us, but at :e: we're going to let some troll stick around like Canadian herpes and let her screw up the pics that rule thread, which is the only good thing there?

Her thread has some heat, so I've let her stick around. Despite being a dolt and posting dumb pictures.Once all the hubbub dies down, I'll give her some time off to think about how her bad posting affects everyone.

I don't get why that thread is going so strong.

To be fair, I asked her how crappy the Calgary airport is and she told me it's pretty crappy. So now I have that to look forward to in June.

krista>I've been reluctant to give you advice, as I feel woefully unqualified. But support? You have mine, FWIW, and no doubt many others.Come to cosurukhole and get all the support you can tolerate. Also we're going to get fabulously, Peter O'Toole-style smashed. :banned:

I just had 2 brisket tacos, rice, churro beans, 2 bowls of chips, 3 bowls of salsa, bowl of queso, half of an avocado, salad and 3 beers. Now home, moving to Crown and thinking about pouring it over ice cream. I just tell myself I'm training for Coshole.

Krista hasn't been running at all, apparently. :softball::sorryGBK4pleasecometoAustin:

Is there any reason to go read that horrible amburger thread? I read the first few pages and wanted to stab myself in the face.

Not really. But the bolded has been pissing me off lately too. I'm just too scared to say something to truck, because he'll use it as an excuse to ban me instead. The guy is like Joe with evil instead of -CENSORED-.ETA: But in other news, Arizona Ron discovered the solution to your old Knuckles problem: a no-holds-barred wife. He found a Knuckles of his own, but his wife took control of the situation (in the best way possible). Check out his thread for the juicy details.

I'm on it. Pic thread should be safe from now on.

Boy that escalated quickly.I keep typing these long winded replies but end up going back to square one because Tanner's point has some merit. I simply cannot relate as someone who pulls in a whopping $40k/year, is also miserable at my job, with no prospects on the horizon. I work in a warehouse so I have no point of reference for the type of mega super lawyer problems you are dealing with. Sometimes typing out the obligatory "I'm sorry to hear that" just seems hollow, but I guess it does carry weight. I know I often times deflect by making jokes or snarky comments, and I think we're all guilty of an ill-timed remark. But after 2100+ pages of the some of the highest highs and lowest lows, one thing is certain; there is a tremendous support network throughout this thread as evidenced by the sincere advice in the past 2 pages. CQ summed it up very well.I would also urge you to go through with the plan to visit UrukCoshole, if only because Tanner won't be there and you can say nasty things about him. Who knows you just might have fun. Keep on keepin on K4. Life is too short to be miserable and no one would fault you for looking out for yourself.
this may have been meant for krista, but it helped me a lot. Glad to know that I'm not the only ##### here who doesn't pull big bucks, and now at 40, am realizing that I probably never will.
:hifive: for the lower-middle class

Cars are stupid.

I thought GM would appreciate this.We were in Elk, CA (Population 238, iirc) over the weekend. There's not much IN Elk, CA. Driving in any direction from Elk, CA doesn't produce much more, unless you're trying to find an ocean, in which case driving west would quickly end your search.About 25 miles outisde Elk, in Fort Bragg, we happened upon a store that produced the following from my wife: "Oh, holy ####ing hell, I've never been so happy to see a Rite Aid in my life."I don't think we'll be moving to Elk anytime soon.
Did you drive through Marin? Look for the one Mexican in the town, you can't miss me.
Aloha!
:lmao:

Found out I don't have ice cream. But I do have 20 bucks worth of Girl Scout cookies that I bought from the Wiccan. So I am just opening cans of Coke, taking a swig and filling them back up with Crown.
