You're bothering us with this nonsense when you've got entire thread devoted to Wheelhouse topics?I need questions to ask interviewers. I always run out by around the fifth person. Something that makes them talk a lot so I don't have to. TIA.

First, sorry to hear about the problems with redX. Second, I hear you on the bolded. My Mom has been more sick than healthy the last 4-5 years.I'm going to turn 40 this year. I lost my mom almost 2 1/2 years ago. You're going to miss those stupid mom things soon enough. Enjoy them. I promise you that you won't feel like you enjoyed them enough with her when you had the chance. So, I'll be 51 in April. My mother continues to give me "care packages" for Christmas. #### like deoderant, toothpaste, etc... This past holiday she apparently thought Axe brand was all the thing. Besides knowing it is vile sludge, I just found out that getting Axe body wash in your eyes will BLIND THE LIVING HELL OUT OF YOU.
Jesus Christ. I'd rather pour cucumber vodka in my eyes. Not a single hot woman has tried to rape me or my optical orbs since I turned into Stevie Wonder.![]()
Love that. I just turned 55 last week. Mom still has those lifesavers books in my stocking (I hate them but don't want to tell her). She is pretty in touch, I think it just brings her back to another time - I kind of like that.

Unfortunately not. Went through the library though.Did you go through his house too? That was a really cool tour.Just got done touring the Lincoln Museum. Pretty cool. The boys couldn't have been better.
The museum was really neat. All of the displays were life sized and it really helped give you perspective. So we get up to the display of Abe & Mary at Ford's theater and they show a dastardly JWB about to sneak into their suite. He had a somewhat horrified look on his face and says "HEY WHAT IS THAT GUY DOING??!!" It was funny and sad all at once. Glad I wasn't the only one that was choked up at the next displays...Calvin was a little freaked out to learn Lincoln was assassinated. Probably should have mentioned that on the way up...![]()

Glad to see that people are finally coming around ol' Ahrnie opinion that The Steve Miller Band is one of the stinkiest pieces of #### of the last 50 years. So, the prior post about this is here. Yesterday, redX was out of town on a business trip meaning that she missed our son's first t-ball game. No biggie - I know she'd have been there if she had a chance. As a result, I invited girlfriend and her two kids to come. The team moms know redX, who's good at interacting in the "team mom" world. She tends not to let people know that we're divorced in these situations, and people therefore tend to assume we're still together as we do hang together at these sorts of events. Even though she opted to revert to her maiden name in the divorce, she uses her married name to register our son for things. The kindergarten teacher, for example, had zero clue that we were divorced (partially because we do get along regarding our son, which I'm not complaining about) until I mentioned it during our parent-teacher meeting last fall. Anyway, I quickly kiss girlfriend when she rolls up and then go back to helping coach my son and his teammates. Girlfriend, who has some social insecurities and is more introverted than redX in these situations anyway, notes to me that, "I'm getting a lot of looks from the moms." Girlfriend also immediately noted when I invited her that the only reason I was inviting her then was because redX wouldn't be in attendance (true, and entirely justified in my mind), which girlfriend bristled at. Girlfriend is extremely resentful that redX refuses to meet with her and thinks I don't do enough to fight for her. I've reminded her that while I can and do demand respect from redX, I can't change how she feels about her or force her to meet (nor would I want to - what am I going to do, provoke a confrontation at some event for my son, or just roll up to the house with girlfriend and knock on the door?). So now I'm waiting for word to get back to redX that girlfriend was at the game (likely from my son, who seems oblivious to all of this, but possibly from another team mom) and being confronted by an outraged redX for making her look bad and exercising poor judgment, and for girlfriend being "in your face" once again, etc. So, happy Sunday all. Will answer yours.Yes?Ah, so you want more information about my love life?My Atlanta to NY flight, which was scheduled to board right now, was just delayed by nearly three hours.Someone please be entertaining. :(

So sorry to hear this my friend. I've only talked to you on the radio but feel free to call if you want to get stuff off your mind or drunk talk.Mentioned earlier that my wife is out of town; she's up in OH because her mother went in the hospital with pneumonia, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung and pancreatic cancer, and given 1-4 weeks to live. She passed away this morning. Her husband is 90 yrs old, hasn't left the house in years, and is deaf. My wife is the only family member there, and cannot get in touch with the husband. The hospice people pressured her to choose a funeral home, basically at random, and now the funeral home people want to know what to do with the body, but my wife has no idea, and is not the executor. On top of all that, my wife's aunt who lives in California, has a power of attorney, but has informed everyone that she does not want to be involved. What a #### show...

The only reason this is any issue at all is because we have a kid. She wouldn't be in my life at all but for that. That's the part for you to be glad about. We were speculating that it might be the bottle of Pappy Van Winkle she had mentioned buying in the thread. But she did show up, with the Pappy and I won some of Thorn's loot. U-H approved. We couldn't just let it sit idle there, so we poured out a finger or so for any takers. A shot video without shooting. Actually, you should have seen the look on Krista's face when I suggested doing a shot video with it. Thankfully, while we may come across as heathens, everyone knew this was for sipping… thus the worst shot video ever.![]()

Old age and bad memory can be a good thing. I've had Lowdown running in my brain for the past day, since I got that mixed up with the vastly inferior Lido Shuffle.Have had this in my head for a good 14 hours straight. At the office with the kids. They are being great, but I'm sitting here humming "Lido Shuffle".Whoever started this can go straight to hell.....
Bentley was hoppin' at that show because.......Saw them years ago at Auditorium Shores for Aqua Fest or Bat Fest or some such crap.I'm probably going to that show.Austin down?Actually, is probably is. SXSW turns us into a cluster. But hey, Three Dog Night is playing at the rodeo!!!!11!I'm rethinking where to go. Any suggestions welcome. I want someplace warmish where I can do fun things if I wish or just hang out in a cafe if I wish, relatively easy to get to as I'll only have a couple of days, and where I only know people that I could either see or not and their feelings won't be hurt.![]()

good post.Grief's a personal thing, but I think it's important that you make an effort for your family. If you can't do it, you can't do it, but "family" to me means routinely making some social concessions.Do you guys who lost a parent do anything on the anniversary of their death? My mom passed away last year on March 24 and my wife and brother's wife suggested we goto this catering hall by my house that serves a fantastic Sunday brunch buffett. this is the same catering hall I got married in and the same place went for the after funeral dinner and my mom loved It the few times she went. I got into a bit of an argument with my wife cuz I said I wasnt sure I wanted to do that cuz I didnt see the point. My wife said, "your mom loved that place" and i said "is she coming to brunch?". She also said it would be honoring my mom and give me a chance to spend time with my brothers. I dunno, i guess i dont understand the point of spending a ton of money pigging out on a brunch when they can just come over the house to "be together" on the day of her death.Honestly, I was depressed for a good six months after mom died but ive been in a very good place lately and dont feel depressed anymore. I guess i didnt wanna do anything differently that day except goto the cemetary. i even suggested they can goto brunch without me and she got all pissed. Am i being unreasonable?
odd timing for this convo. At least for myself as it's the 1 year anniversary of my father passing today.Called my mom. Asked if she wanted company, go out to lunch of something. She said it was already a sad enough day and that doing anything else would just make it harder. She's in the process of buying a new place. Kind of wish she got out of the old place (where she lived with the old man) before the anniversary, but closing dates got pushed back, and the lease she's on isn't done until end of May. So she was probably destined to be there today. For my mother-in-law, my wife's family has gone out every year (now 3 years) around the day she past to remember. So definitely different depending on the people / respective families.Just put out feelers and see how they respond.good post.Grief's a personal thing, but I think it's important that you make an effort for your family.
