GM's thread about nothing (87 Viewers)

OH HOLY GOD. Can't believe I forgot about this.A couple I know had a kid about 2 years ago. They named him Easton. Yeah, OK.They had their second boy just a month ago. Guess what they named him? Hint: It is as bad as you think.
Assassin Larry HolmesMy wife had a friend who named their first kid Hunter. Then named the second kid something so egregious, that it led us to ask our 9-year-old daughter, "Hey, what do you think they named Hunter's brother?" She guessed Gatherer. The real answer was Fisher.

If you saw two guys named Hambone and Flippy, which one would you think liked dolphins most? I'd say Flippy, wouldn't you? You'd be wrong though. It's Hambone.

Before I got to the end of this story my ears perked up. I used to teach swim lessons to two kids in Dallas. Older brother Hunter and his little brother Fisher. Small world.

Oddly enough I knew a brother and sister named Houston (m) and Dallas (f).

Did they have a "special" brother named "Waco"?

I know a guy from Dallas named Dallas. If that wasn't unique enough, his last name happens to be the name of a Dallas suburb....

Kill me now. Recently got back from a meeting with several architects/engineers that included me and one other sub, plus the GC. Left at 5 a.m. (sorry, Homer) to drive the 100 miles to DC. It was supposed to last from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. I should know better by now that, after 30 years in this business and meeting with white collars, half of them will be at least 30 minutes late. On top of that, the other sub's rep (they actually put the concrete structure up over my foundations) must have wanted to show his engineer-envy by questioning the design team about things that had zero to do with his work ("what type of glass are you using?"; "paint brand?"; "why are you using those?"). Ever ask an engineer or an architect questions about his/her work? I left after 3.5 hours - 5 minutes of which was spent on my work. THEN I had to leave one of the most ####ed up traffic grids in either Hemisphere, NW DC. I thought my GPS was going to explode, not to mention my brain. Now we've got Lex Steele-measurable snow coming and I'll probably lose power.
What do you do GB?
Deep foundations - drilled piers (caissons) - mostly for high rises, parking garages, and bridges where the loads are too great for the surface soils to support them. Basically, we drill big holes in the ground & fill 'em up with concrete & steel.
I am about as far from an engineer as it gets, but the Brooklyn Bridge has always fascinated me...Reading about the caissons in McCullough's "The Great Bridge" was eye opening for me...Such interesting stuff
The industry has called what we do "caissons" forever, but they're not the same as what you're referring to (which is the "real" meaning of the word). That had to be insane, working on the Brooklyn Bridge in those conditions.
It's one of my obsessions...I have read and watched everything I can get my hands on about the building...Such an interesting story...From Roebling's infirmity halfway through to the caissons to the 06 Cold War bunker found therein...I still get chills when I see it/ride over it
Where can I watch something about this?

:lmao: @ the replies to the "Daily Quiz" :lmao:

I would have gone with "Kodak".

The little kid next door, just turned 5 I think, is named Hunter. That's a pretty #####en name IMO.

Boyscout night so it is just me & Dyl. He's cool except when he does stuff likes goes poop, but the bathroom is out of toilet paper, so he just goes about his business. From I understand it's hard to get off if you let is set for too long.

Think I might be in love with this chick. She has a thick Mexican accent, cooks really good looking stuff and is whiter than GM.

Wow she would never hang with a stink bag like me. :kicksrock:

Got home to find not one, not two...oh hell, OK, SEVEN cop cars in front of the house. Saw a couple of black kids--18 to 21 years old?--being put in a cop car and a bunch of hullabaloo. No idea what happened other than they were black kids in my neighborhood, but appears the local po and neighbors were all over it, which makes sense given that Memphis doesn't have any other crime to attend to.

That's what you get for living in a ghetto like Memphis

One of them was in a hoodie; figured he was lucky he wasn't shot (though no Skittles were evident).

I had a car chase go right in front of me today. I see this guy cautiously go through a red light, I was going the other way, pretty heavy traffic, we all slow down and the guy gasses it. About 10 seconds later a bunch of cops come from the same direction. I wonder what happened. Really weird because I was way outside of the city.

Not that I know of. I played little league against Houston. Didn't meet his sister until college. Hot. As. Balls.

"Lion Allegedly Kills Zimbabwe Woman Having Sex In Bush" Retro porn.
:lmao: I would hate to have to look for lions every time I had sex. I hate having to look for the remote to turn the TV off.
I having to look for cops and a stealthy, transvestite weiner when I have sex.
"Look for" or "hope for"?

I also got a cortisone shot in my left shoulder today. It's nice with Mrs. SLB being a nurse. Showed up at her work, the Orthopedic Surgeon, same guy that did my knee, gives me the shot. No paperwork, no co-pay etc. Thanked him with a couple of Panera cards and he seemed genuinely happy about it. Cool guy. Man, it's been a long day. :banned:

You big city folk get all the fun. I miss hearing helicopters in LA and turning on the news to see its the news team following a high speed pursuit, crash, and subsequent neighborhood run down by the famously gentle and always law abiding LAPD.

I wouldn't call it fun, just unusual. When I worked in the city, you never knew WTF you were going to happen upon. My GB (BFF) had his GF going down to meet us at a bar one night and she got caught in the middle of a drive by. Saw the bullet holes in the car myself. Crazy.

Yes, why?

I have an over the air antenna on the TV in my garage and I always turn on PBS when I'm hanging out there. Her accent makes her even 10x more sexier. Wow.

Oh I believe it. The chicks with the southern accent too. That was probably the most disappointing thing about Coshole. YSR faked having a Midwest dialect the whole time and I think I only heard Thorn say "wicked" twice.

Well I wasn't trying to say that I thought Mexican accents were sexy. I was just suggesting that you if you came out here it would be "Boner City" for you. Hearing a Mexican accent is about as exciting to me as it is for you to see that Gateway Arch thingy.
