GM's thread about nothing (21 Viewers)

Maybe ill give Argo a try after all. Also wanted to see Arbitrage with gere. Anyone?
I'm trying not to just stir crap up but you have/had no interest in seeing Argo but actually watched Taken 2?
I think my familiarity with the Argo story and all the hubbub during award season makes me think watching it wouldn't be satisfying since I already know everything.
Ahhhh...

I can see that. Especially when I would imagine that the story of Taken 2 was insightful, unpredictable, and original.

Did I miss the job search update where Abe landed a lucrative gig watching movies and drinking beer? Must have been in a spoiler box...

I also like to watch the movies after drinking a ton of beer. So complicate plots and dialog are a negative thing.
Argo's not really a complicated plot. But you already knew that.
Well GM didn't know it was Ben Affleck playing the lead until 2/3 of the way through the movie...
Hey, to my defense, he did wear a beard all movie long. And I haven't seen an Afleck movie in years, so I'm not real in tune with his current looks. He looked wiser, tougher...like a guy who could pull this stuff off. Not the wise cracking dumb friend of Good Will Hunting.

And, also...I'm pretty stupid.

If I missed Taken 1, will it ruin my viewing of Taken 2?

Blakely repeatedly harassed women while driving, even going so far as to hang his genitals out the car window while driving at speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour.
One question: HOW????

SLB, can you sketch this one out for me? I'm trying to figure out how a guy can drive 90 with his balls out the car window? Sure, maybe he's got cruise control, but even then. Who steers? Or what steers? How does he see where he's going? I once looked down for a spilled french fry and almost drove the car off the side of a mountain. This guy must be talented.

Agreed. We should be celebrating this accomplishment, not condemning it.

For future reference...

I get this. I had a similar problem recognizing Tom Cruise from 2005 to 2012.

Thanks, Vudu

We want to let you know that there was a break-in at the VUDU offices on March 24, 2013, and a number of items were stolen, including hard drives.

Our investigation thus far indicates that these hard drives contained customer information, including names, email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers, account activity, dates of birth and the last four digits of some credit card numbers. It's important to note that the drives did NOT contain full credit card numbers, as we do not store that information. Additionally, please note if you have never set a password on the VUDU site and have only logged in through another site, your password was not on the hard drives.

While the stolen hard drives included VUDU account passwords, those passwords were encrypted. We believe it would be difficult to break the password encryption, but we can't rule out that possibility given the circumstances of this theft. So we think it's best to be proactive and ask that you be proactive as well.

If anyone is wondering where all the a##holes of the internet are gathering, they're in the "Is it ever ok to use a belt to discipline your child?" thread.

Have we done the DirecTV vs. Dish debate? And was a consensus reached? TIA
Directv would win this easily I think.
Because?
They are awesome in just about every way
HOPPAH!I'm probably paying too much, but I've never had any trouble with Dish in 7 years and I prefer the channel layout and navigation on the Dish receivers over DirectTV. The decision for me was made easier by not caring about Sunday Ticket.

Man, today was one of the worst days of work ever. No details, other than people are ####ing stupid. I felt like quitting.

Tonight was our second practice for my son's baseball team. It's coach/kid pitch mix. For some reason I'm the designated coach pitcher. Laughable.

I think you answered your own question here.

Guess this is the best place to put this...

My grandfather passed tonight in hospice. He was 87. He and my grandmother (who passed away 4 years ago) raised me for about 1/3 of my life. My dad died when I was 7. He was an only child, and I'm his only child. So my whole fathers family is now gone. I'm 30 and feel a little alone.

Papa was a real man - hard worker, his word was absolutely gold. Honest and straightforward, very generous and charming. I hope to carry forward his legacy in my family.

Good bye Dad, Papa and Grandma. Thanks for all the love.

Unless it's cloudy outside. Then you're screwed.I sometimes watch that show Undercover Boss -- I usually end up crying because they always have some really sappy story that tugs at my heart strings and I'm an easy crier. Well one episode featured Directv. So the CEO puts on a fake mustache and some dorky glasses and goes out on an install with this hard-working black chick. They (mostly she) get the dish on the roof and everything in the house installed, only it's raining so they can't actually get the signal from space down to the dude's TV. They just kind of gloss over that point in the show, but if I were the guy hoping to watch some Sunday Ticket that day I'd have been pissed.I know for a lot of folks some kind of satellite is your only option, but I wouldn't go back to a dish as long as cable were an option.

I totally misunderstood that commercial the first time I saw it. I thought the Dad was purposely teaching the kid to throw like that so he wouldn't ever be able to hit the shiny VW. Would have been a better commercial.

Dang, man. I saw where you alluded to some heavy family stuff in your tax thread, but that really sucks. I know it's small consolation, but 87 years is a solid run and it sure sounds like he lived a good life.Thoughts & prayers.

I've been trying to figure out what to type here for a while and I just don't know. Condolences, man. That is a really fantastic post.
