GM's thread about nothing (24 Viewers)

I once wrote a poem called "An Ode to Google Bot." Of course it was purged along with all of Baseball Tangent's vital data and incriminating documents.

Bought a new Honda mower today. Why didn't I get one of these sooner?
How much did that set you back? I bought a used Snapper (ha ha) yesterday for $150 from an old man who repairs, restores and resells mowers outside his front yard by a Costco. Traded my broken down Craftsman to him for next to nothing (was happy to just unload that piece of junk) and cut my yard with my new mower the second I got home. Pretty sweet. Never used a self-propelled mower before. Amazing what a sharp blade can do for a yard. Guy told me my old blade looked like a butter knife. :bag:
150 for a restored mower?
I looked on craigslist and was that or more for a used mower. This one is much better than the one I just got rid of. I'm happy with $150 and if the guy ripped me off, well? It cut my grass real nice, ran like a dream for me and looks nicer in my garage. I lost $150 on the Cubs this week, so I'm not real opposed to blowing money.

no drinking 2 days a week has been fine for the most part, though I did have a vodka water one of my fast days. No major cravings almost a month in for teh boozes, but yes, I very much would like a cold beer right now.....

And if I keep this 5/2 fast diet thingee up for a whole year, that's 104 days of no or very limited drinking. That's like 4 months. Seems like a lot. :oldunsure:

Amaya Gaming putting me back into new lawn mower territory, though.
Still a buy?
If I say yes I'm recommending a buy at an all time high and that's just not something I normally would tell somebody to do. Remember - short biased for 8 years, so not much for longs, but we don't get rich buying at the highs.

UNLESS...you think the stock has legs and so you have to look at what those drivers may be. In my mind, when a stock climbs from a penny stock to one that hits the mid sixes and does so without flooding the market with more shares, going into debt or making non-accretive acquisitions, it can be a buy as it climbs due to lack of liquidity. Now that's a two way street - lack of liquidity can kill you going the other way. But I have strong faith that there will be more buyers than sellers in this thing for the forthcoming year UNLESS they do an equity raise and I have it on better faith that they won't.

But do your own due diligence and remember, you've met me. I'm an idiot.

I'm drunk and spent the last twenty minutes giggling about posting on TF's epic spreadsheet about many of your fellating abilities.

We were in a dry country (Brunei) for <20 hours this week, and I thought I was going to die.

Then change the makeup of your diet. I drink every day and I'm firmly in the middle of average on BMI. The important thing is to not eat a whole cake or bag of Cheetos when you're drinking. Nothing pisses me off more than anti-booze weight loss Nazis. For example, 9 Paulaners and 1 serving of Chili's molten chocolate cake have the same amount of calories.

Living in Texas, you have to be careful when traveling that you don't end up in a dry county.Oh wait, you said country?!?!? WTF?

Yeah, I've been to other Muslim countries but not to one totally dry before. We couldn't even have booze on the flights in and out of the country.

Guster, Uni, or Thorn. In exchange for your ticket for Monday night, please place the following bets for me on the Derby: $2 box exacta 2-3-14$1 box trifecta 2-3-14 $18 total. Thanks.
I like that 3 a little bit too. You see the final line of comments? "Colt has had the lead or been right there at the top of the lane in three of six in his career and 47 of the last 50 Derby winners have been 1st or 2nd with a furlong left..."
Revolutionary is my pick as well. Also Goldencents, Itsmyluckyday for 2nd/3rd, Java's War 3rd/4th and Overanalyze as an outside shot at 4th.

I'm not done yet though, things could change.

The tree of liberty needs to be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and teetotalers.

Bought a 3 speed Honda around 9 years ago which I treat like crap and don't take care of. Still starts with one pull and gets the job done.

Also - wife has left me with the kids for the weekend. Taking the day off tomorrow. About 6 beers in and the kids are still up because I'm hoping they'll sleep in tomorrow. I built them a tunnel from couch cushions which exposed an ancient chip underneath. My daughter promptly popped it in her mouth. I'm pretty sure she won't die.

Whoa....are you...are you reading over my shoulder??? :oldunsure:

That's pretty uncanny, GB. I'm on the same trail, especially wrt itsmyluckyday. I think he might be your winner.

Also watching the Glee movie because the remote is lost somewhere under the couch cushions. So, the crippled kid isn't really cripped and all the guys are gay. Am I following this right?

Now my daughter is running around with no pants on, her winter coat on (backwards) while brusher her teeth and my son is wearing his bike helment. The wife would not approve.

Gwyneth Patrow is on Glee?

On itsmyluckyday as well.

Let my daughter pick a horse. Did a whole tournament style elimination thing to see who she wanted. Ended up with Charming Kitten. Could have just picked that one for her I suppose.

Hope you other guys are taking notes. They don't put this stuff in the parenting books.

OTB near you.

I think I've figured out that Glee is the 21st century version of Up With People.

I also just sent this post as a Report Post by mistake.

I'm putting this in Chapter 6 of the First Time Daddy book that I'm writing. Chapter 1 is Teaching Colors - Miller Lite is blue, Genuine Draft is Gold etc...

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: The underappreciated Season 2 of Wires is underappreciated. I think it's more interesting than Season 1.
We just finished episode 8. We've been absolutely slammed of late, so if we get 2 episodes in per week, we're doing fabulous. But I agree with you completely. I LOVE these union guys, the Greeks and especially like how they got the band back together. Also, lots more bosoms!@!!!111
I just finished episode 6 yesterday. love the union guys, too. Also, the father-in-law to the one police, also a Polish type, who was in the first season but not that much, is a fantastic actor, just perfect for this role. Also also, Amy Ryan is a great actress. I nearly cried when they got the band back together, too.
Season 4 is probably my favorite season, but 2 is actually pretty close. I remember not liking it for the majority of the time I was watching it, and then around about episode 8 or 9, I was hooked. Since then I've rewatched the entire series several times and it really holds up IMO.

My good deed for the day:

While I actually decided to do this b/c I was tired of getting Gadzooks and Guster confused, schtick is highly encouraged
Amazing. And hilarious so far. :lmao:

Major Valchek? He's awesome. Loved it when he called those worthless cops 'Humps'. :lmao:
Valcheck is in my top-10. Guy really wants to pay for that stained glass window at church.

I can't get enough Frank Sobotka, though I think he studied the Jack Nicholson bar scene in "Shining" extensively to master the look of evil lurking behind a sinister smile.

Less Ziggy for me too. And is Nick Sobotka played by Ben Affleck? I
Yeah, Valchek. I have a hard time remembering people's names on here. Fantastic character, and I LOVE the bit with the stained glass window. I'm with y'all on Frank Sobotka, too. He just has the perfect look and demeanor for that part; great character.

Nick is a little like a poor man's Ben Affleck. We also have a poor man's Gene Hackman (Rawls) and poor man's John Goodman (Landsman) on the show. (I had to ask Mr. krista both these names. I really am bad with this.)

I sent Mr. krista into seemingly unending fits of laughter by asking him if Stringer Bell is generally considered good looking. I guess that was a dumb question. I sometimes have weird taste and thought maybe it was just me.
Mmm, Stringer Bell...
