Wife update: finally went to the new doctor today. Very cool guy, good bedside manner for someone in chronic pain. Seems to want to attack the problem from multiple fronts. Wife is going in tomorrow for an outpatient infusion therapy to try to break the current headache cycle. Spinal tap next week to rule some things out, followed by a sleep study, trying to focus on treating the depression and weight gain issues, etc. Also talked about a clinic in Cleveland that's like a headache "camp", where you go, go off all meds and get correct treatment, exercise program, psychological assessment, etc. Sounds like something that would be beneficial, but want to wait to see how next month goes. My wife seems very relieved, as she has not had luck with her past couple doctors. Also, her spirits were up this week as we got a lot of unsolicited help and support from our neighbors and family.
GLGB best to you and your wife.

Not looking for any sympathy considering the dirtbag I have been financially, but my parents gave me general admission pit tickets for My birthday for The Killers tomorrow night and they are now on Craigslist. Aside from my wife not being in the mood to go have a good time, I literally don't have enough money to pay for parking (much less any drinks). So yeah, things could be worse for you - you could be me. :(
Hang in there. We had to do the very tight budget thing for a while up until a few years ago. Turned me into a real cheapskate. Let me know if you need any pointers.

At the Maui airport waiting for our delayed flight. Only 2:20 to go! Anyhow, two gals are now sitting behind us. One proceeded to read every item on the menu, and at the times they are served, very loudly. After placing her order, she asked the waitress if she went to use the bathroom, if she would be allowed back in the restaurant. :lmao: :lmao:

Don't worry she'll be on her way home to Cincinnati in a couple of hours.

She just claimed some random lady tried to put something in her bag only to reveal she was kidding. Her friend then says "she's a big joker".

Can't wait to get home to mine. Don't know if I was the one that recommended it to you but congratulations.
What's this stuff now? My allergies have been killing me lately. Living off Sudafed by day and Benedryl by night.

Is this something Mrs. Frosty recommended?

ETA: Mrs. CC knows what this is. Going to check it out. I'm hoping the FFA can save my sinuses the way it once cut down on my soap expenses.

Oooof. Sorry, Abe. I've been there. I'm almost there right now. Stay strong. Not TAINTSTRONG, just strong.

Tanner> thoughts on Eyes Wide Shut?

I'm curious.
Still not sure on that. There were moments of brilliance and then there were some dead-spots. Probably need to watch it again.
Pretty much my take too. Some parts are visually great. Some great scenes. But the film as a whole failed somehow and I've never been able to pin down why. It's probably because Tom Cruise stars in it.

Speaking of Kubrick, I still haven't seen Barry Lyndon. It's supposed to be great. Anyone? Is it worth the time?
I didn't think Cruise did a bad job. Kidman, however, has never impressed me with her acting and Eyes Wide Shut was no exception.
Oh I know and you're right. But Cruise inspires loathing while Kidman inspires boners. Acting has nothing to do with it.
Tom Cruise is awesome.
Cruise is what Charlies Sheen would be if he joined a cult instead of partying like a rock star. Both are talented actors (Cruise is more talented), but Sheen's sideshow is hilarious while Cruise remains a theta jacked idiot from outer space.

Hey GMTAC posse,

been a bit in full on life mode for a bit.

here are some rfw highlights and one insignificant lowlight and one rather significant lowlight

Trip to Antigua:

Just awesome. Easy customs, walked by an Antiguan hottie official to the Hermitage pick up area, greeted with cool towels.

other highlights:

[*]beautiful place with western (sunset views)

[*]oodles of teh sex (which has led to oodles of carry-over return to home sex)

[*]unexpected late, late night poker game with poor crazy wealthy british folk that almost covered the whole trip

[*]caught a MARLIN!

Trustee Professorship:

I won this award at my university where I get a two course release for fall, a $5000.00 stipend and get to select $1000.00 in books for the library in my areas of interest/research: graphic novel, social practice (community engagement in art) and data visualization. Combined with my sabbatical for the Spring semester, I am only teaching 1 course next year.

Classes are done and graduation is tomorrow.Brook trout are biting in the Maine rivers.

Downside:

Even though I am an artist, the provost and two deans selected me to teach a new Computer Science listed Data Visualization course. However, the Computer Science people are allegedly, enraged and telling their folks not to take the course. So, it may not have the numbers to run. I have been prepping for it for a year, so it would be a bit of a bummer for it not to run.

Significant downside:

My university is in the process of discontinuing programs and of course, art is near the top of the less fiscally viable lists, if you want to run your school Kaplan style. I am swamped in work documenting/defending the art department, its alignment with the strategic plan and its value to the university and the people of central maine. Blech.

When I was engaged, mrs. rfw and I went through some similar stuff- though not as bad- clearly because we weren't yet married. I had not been honest or even aware of the depths of my debt. She took the ring off and after some wrangling/groveling, I had to promise never to lie about money again, and I haven't.

12 years later, on an art professor salary and some positive poker outliers, I am taking vacations to antigua, have eliminated most debt (have some super low interest loans that I pay monthly to keep improving the credit score) and have a ton saved. If an idiot like me can turn it around, I am sure that you can.

good luck

While you ladies were waiting for someone to come check your washer fluid, I was busy swapping out a starter on my old lady's car. Now enjoying an ice cold beer and the warm afterglow of a job well done.
If you've got some spare time you're welcome to come over and feel good about yourself by working on my cars
Doubt you want this. As usual, once I got everything buttoned back up I ended up with a couple of leftover parts.

Is this an euphemism for the fix-the car starter sex reward sex or I am still on Antiguan time? If it is, feel free to elaborate on the leftover parts.

If not, I don't need any other automotive details.

Explain this to me please. I have terrible allergies, watery itchy eyes, sinus problems etc. they only last 4-6 weeks through the spring but they're bad enough I want to kill someone. I spend most days feeling like I have sand in my eyes.

No trap, just different lingo I guess. To me "check it out" means you'll look into the movie and see what it is about or whatever and then maybe decide to see it. I was a little shocked that you maybe were living in a cave and had never heard of it. Nevermind. Carry on. tl:don'tread
 I know it's a movie about dreams within dreams or something. I don't think i'm really going to understand it, but I'm willing to give it a go one day. ALMOST done with Wires season 2. Can somebody hurry up and kill Ziggy for me?

There are several different types but I like the squeeze bottle type. Unlike Swedish Fish, they are sold at any pharmacy. It takes some getting used to but it gets all of the junk out of your sinuses. Highly recommend if you have allergies or get sinus infections often.

Pre-take off Champagne! :excited:
very nice
Man, right after take off were each given a personal pizza, Caesar salad, assorted nuts, fresh fruit and Pepperidge Farm cookies. Real plates, silverware and glasses too. My J&C was premixed and quite strong. Everyone got a pillow and blanket too. At LAX now. Really tired. FC is really nice. I'm jealous of K4. Have to fly priority seating to STL. I don't have to sit with the peasants in coach but it isn't FC. <_<

You should just hand over the finances to her, then you lose the temptation to hide losses and money.

:coffee: upper class on Virgin Atlantic. Drinking champagne in the club house while snacking on a cheeseburger.

That's great man....chronic pain/headaches have to be very tough to deal with.

GLGB.

Ask them if the machine goes to eleven.

SLB - my sons' headmaster at the private school (it was really a co-op daycare that liked to bill itself (and me) as a private school) recommended it to me after listening to me battle a sinus infection one afternoon while working in the classroom. I was skeptical at first, really hated it the first few times I tried it, but now? I never have to take allergy medication. I spent three hours in the hard with all kinds of dust, pollen, dirt grass flying in and out of my passages, came inside, showered, hit the neti pot and I'm golden, boy. Used to be sucking down benadryl and chasing it with pills. Now? I just take the benadryl for fun. ;)
How often do you use this thing? Daily? Weekly?

My boss is retiring today. I couldn't be happier for him, but no one can tell me who I report to on Monday.

:oldunsure:
My wife's boss and her boss' boss both left nearly 3 weeks ago (to come work for a company my company is launching. Good times in the Sacamano household over that one). So far they have not only been given zero indication as to who their new leader will be, be it interim or permanent, but they haven't even announced yet that her boss left. She only knows because they were fairly close and the boss sent her a personal e-mail. Such a trainwreck.

Heading out shortly to lunch and then the Players Championship followed by poker at a buddy's house. Have a driver each way.

Thoprawishes for my liver would be appreciated.

Soooooo my boss and I like to vent to each other about work stuff. This morning I sent him a scathing email about a co-worker, to the point where i stated i would like to choke said co-worker.

An hour later he still hasn't responded, which is odd. Probably because I just realized that I sent it to the co-worker by mistake.

Male or female coworker?

Yes, it matters.

Yeah it was like an hour before i realized it. My boss is trying to convince me it's not a big deal. He already alerted his boss.

I apologized via email and then in person. There was lip quivering "acceptance".

If I get fired they will find me at the bottom of this bridge. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:ValleyViewBridge.jpg

Have a nice life everyone.
