GM's thread about nothing (40 Viewers)

Brought the family to the Cards game last night to celebrate Cal's birthday. Other than the score, it was awesome. They didn't fight or say they were bored or ask to leave. As a matter of fact, Dyl seems to have his first love which was mine as well at his age. Baseball. It seems to be all he wants to do now and that, like Jesus, is alright with me.

I told Cal he could get all he could eat so he took me up on it. (Pic of Cal and me.) Man, this kid can eat. He wanted to start with cotton candy but I told him to eat something more nutritious, like a hot dog. Then he wanted to go get nachos. On his own. No worries, let him go. But then the cotton candy connection dried up. He spied them in the outfield and I was prepared to walk all the way around the stadium to get some. Hey a promise is a promise. When I notice a couple sneaking into the good seats and she had half a bags worth. Watch this I tell Cal. Go down a couple aisles her date/husband looked like WTF does this guy want and I offer her eight bucks for her stash. She says "are you serious" and I reply "you don't know how serious I am". I procure the cotton candy and everybody was happy. So much fun.
This is a great story. Too bad baseball is gay.

I'm sure CMT is showing a Monster Truck race that might be tailor made for you, hoss.

:lmao: Actually I'm watching "Mean Girls" right now (on in the background).

Tanner > good luck tonight!!
Thanks. We won again (3 in a row). The other teams really don't like us. There were some actual booing going on when the M.C. introduced us as the reigning 2-time champs. And when we went up to get our trophies most of the crowd decided that was a good time to pack up and leave. :lmao:
I couldn't tell on FB whether you had lost on the missed question... Sounds like it might have been the only one you got wrong. You set a high standard :lmao: next year, bring your own cooler so you don't have to worry about them running out of beer?

Missing the question about John Doe (it was during the music round and they played a song I had never heard and didn't recognize his voice) just hit me right in the pride. We/I missed plenty but not as many and the other teams.

I really wouldn't cared too much about them running out of beer (two kegs) but I had pre-bought drink tickets and still had enough for 3 more beers. Fortunately the restaurant/micro brew place is less than a mile from campus so they were able to bring over 2 kegs in about 15 mins.

Is there a studio audience for this event? Is drinking allowed in the "stands" during the competition?

Cat question:

We all know that purring is the sound of a happy cat. And when they whip their tail every few seconds, there's a cat that's fixin to get pretty angry about something. But what the hell does it mean when they do both at the same time? My current cat does that all the time. Never saw that before in other cats.

Pls help. Will answer yours.
means they're both mad?
Both what?
mad?
When did you get a tape worm?

No. It's held in one half of the basketball practice gym. All of the space it taken up by the tables for the teams.

OTTTTTTTTTTOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!11111

NHL playoffs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NBA

And then you get messages like this, that make you appreciate what you do -

Mr CC... I recently watched Twin Peaks by David Lynch and I must say after watching Blue Velvet in your class and because I learned what to appreciate in Lynch's work, I can say found the series for the most part truly amazing... Thanks:)
See that, Shuke? I'm creating a whole new generation of Lynchphiles. ETA: excuse the poor sentence structure. English is his second or third language, and yet he still wields it better than half the shark pool.

CC > Does everyone watch Blue Velvet in film/lit class? That was one of the class assignments I had at Southwest Texas State. We watched a bunch of Kubrick and Lynch and then some Speilberg where the professor railed the whole time about what a hack Speilberg has always been.

I am glad I was in flight and unable to see our Grizzlies.

I'm in Nicaragua to sell a house. TPW please please please appreciated until we close tomorrow. I need to offload a house. Any house.

Beats me. I've never taken a film class in my life.

My students watch it in my composition course. The point of the course is to learn how to write decent college level research papers. The tragedy, imo, is that composition is mostly taught by English PhDs who are far more interested in literature than writing, so comp students tend to get force fed literature when learning how to write. This isn't bad, except when/if you have 10+ science majors who need to learn how to write, but hate reading novels. So I like to break the mold by running a unit on fine artists that culminates in a research paper. While turning to fine arts doesn't seem like mold breaking, you'd be surprised how many science & computer students will end up digging one or two of the artists (plus it's good for them). Anyway, Lynch is the only film guy I cover, mostly because I know my psychoanalysis and feel comfortable dissecting his work (Lynch is highly influenced by it).

Blue Velvet works well because -

1. It's a great way to introduce Freud's Oedipus complex.

2. Frank Booth blows their little minds.

But this semester I showed Mulholland Drive instead. A few wrote their papers on it, with varying success. Might do it again.

Sorry to hear about your problems about making countless thousands in the luxury real estate market.

I know the feeling.

Wait, no I don't

I too would like to buy a new bike soon. I still have an old Trek 830 that's 20 years old. I'd like something more like a road bike so I don't feel like I'm working twice as hard just overcoming friction. Whatcha got under $1k?
At that price point your looking at an aluminum frame and Tiagra parts (brifters, derailleurs, etc). The tried and true is a CAAD 10 (it has the components one level up from Tiagra called 105s), but that's a little out of the price range. However, the bike frame will last forever and the more expensive components will last for a good 5 years. It'll also retain resale value.

At $1K, Cannondale and Specialized are generally more expensive as the "name" brands for what they deliver. Scott's Speedster 30 (I actually still use my 2008 frame for training) is $1K and still gets great reviews for what it delivers. More that anything though, make sure the bike fits and is comfortable.

Then why is he wearing a soccer shirt?
Is that Fernando Rodney?
What goes on at Big Mac Land?
Mark McGwire begs for your forgiveness.
:goodposting:

I was really hoping they would get rid of it once that cheating ******* was exposed. GM, to answer your question, lots of wackiness involving those foam things.

How could I forget one of my proudest, self serving, moments? Politeness and manners are heavily stressed by me on my children. It might just be me but the world seems to be getting much more vulgar and in a bad way. Anyhow, at his party yesterday, Cal read every card out loud and gave a genuine thank you to each kid. One kid, Blake, gave him a bunch of stickers which Cal thought it would be a good idea to share them with everybody. After he was done, the host dude commented to Mrs. SLB that he has never witnessed a kid as polite as Cal. He certainly had never seen a kid share his presents with the other kids at a party.

When Blake's mom came to pick him up, she was almost in tears watching him play with Cal. Turns out Blake has autism too, more severe than Cal. She told Mrs. SLB that because of Cal's friendship, Blake has been a much happier kid. Things have been turning around for him. Blake even hand made the card for Cal. I think it said "my best friend" on the front. Stupid allergies.
