GM's thread about nothing (29 Viewers)

Kev, is there a windows reinstall partition on the disk? That's as common as getting a disc. Even if not, buying a windows os is still cheaper than a new machine

So I go over to my mom's to help her set up the Kindle we got for her 7 MONTHS AGO.

It wasn't my idea to give it to her. Her tech skills make GM look like Charles Babbage.

Anyway the Kindle thing went pretty well. I showed her how to "check out" ebooks from the county library and how to buy books with her Amazon account.

Then she wanted me to show her how to use Facebook on the Kindle (oh, I showed her how to find wifi hot-spots too).

So I get Facebook set up and I notice the little notification icon . She's got 72 notifications.

She's been on Facebook for over 2 years and never clicked on that icon once. She had no idea what it did.
I guess she's got a lot of catching up to do on those cat pics you shared with her.
Speaking of that...my work here is done.

Homer - I'm ten minutes in to spring breakers and can say for sure it is a must see for those of you/us/them that like youngish yooloola.

I love her

This movie is sensational. It's like when you drink a fifth of rum while having the flu and have crazy fever dreams involving ###### rappers and college girls and drugs and gold teeth and whatnot. Yeah, like that.

This movie is awesome. ####### AWESOME> Not sure why it didn't get even more love than it did. It's half dark twisted thingy and half straigt ### gangster flick and half college movie, giving it 3 halves to play with.

And there is a TON OF ###.

I've also had about 15 beers so my head is working perfectly with the absurdity of this movie..

There's a reality show called "Summer Camp" on USA and another one called "Camp" on NBC. <_<

At my in laws lake house. We have ice and beer in all 3 fridges, not sure how old some of the beer is though. Luckily the in laws are not here.

I've already "used" the still photos...I'm kind of afraid to watch theovie.
I think you'll like it. I thought it was really good. It's like standing too close to the speaker at a rave in some parts, but that's part of the charm.
You mean it'll make my undercarriage vibrate?

For any WWII guys (ahem Tanner) theres a great PBS doc on Netflix about Stalingrad that I never saw before. "Secrets of the Dead: Deadliest Battle" is what it's called, and why I never bothered watching it before. But it's really fascinating to see what a friggin moron Stalin was when all this time I thought he was an absolute genius during that campaign.

BTW, I love posting about history while hammered at 7am. :-)

I just woke up from a dream in which bin laden kidnapped my dog, my pet monkey, and a child that I must presume was also mine. They left them all there when they killed him so I had to break into his compound to get them out. The thing is, in real life I only have the dog. I'm keeping the monkey, but I have to get back into the dream and make sure I didn't just take someone elses's kid.

wasn't his general strategy just "we have lots of people and i don't care if they die.. so.. we're going to win by attrition"?

Ahhh the Russian campaign. Watching the Germans fight the Russians is like watching the Packers play the Vikings. I'm not really sure which one I want to lose more.

In both cases I just root for high casualties.

Bacheloring it for the weekend. Have already watched 4 movies (spring breakers, cloud atlas, jack reacher, gangster squad). Kind of bored at the moment. Rockets presser on shortly then ill probably take a shower. Maybe.

Spring breakers was excellent. I watched it after about 15 beers which made it even better.

Jack reacher was a Tom cruise movie. Better than knight and Day, entertaining enough.

Gangster squad - meh. Pretty predictable and makes me hate Sean penn even more. He was awful.

Cloud atlas - I have no opinion. I have no idea what is going on. It's like they made 6 little movies and edited them all together in some way that was supposed to make me think they are all tied together. But mostly I don't know what's going on. So thanks for that, movie people.

Any opinions on side effects, broken city, number station, dead man down or anything else at red box?

Eating a sandwich and some goldfish (snack cracker, not pet). Chips Ahoy next for desert. Thawing out a chicken breast to grill later.

Death wish marathon on amc has some promise.
Bronson was one of those non-glossy bad ### heroes, like Clint and McQueen. Love him.

Also, a Death Wish marathon also seems like an appropriate label for your nutritional strategy this weekend.

Hakeem, Clyde, Yao, John Lucas, Calvin Murphy are all there. Bill worrell (play by play guy) seems to not be aware that he is on television.

I got a small church next door to my apartment building, and my window faces it. 1-2 homeless people like to crash on its doorstep some nights. They don't bother me or anyone else and they don't tend to hang there during the day so no problem there... until some homeless jackwad starts sorting bottles and cans in his shopping cart at 3 a.m.
