GM's thread about nothing (20 Viewers)

Bacheloring it for the weekend. Have already watched 4 movies (spring breakers, cloud atlas, jack reacher, gangster squad). Kind of bored at the moment. Rockets presser on shortly then ill probably take a shower. Maybe.
Why don't you come down to the oaks?

Not a lot going on. Probably a trip to the Asian market and make some kimchi.

Pork fajitas for dinner.

Maybe catch a movie.

Lots of booze and a spare room available.

I didn't make the Super Bowl Cornhole, but damn that sounds like a nice offer.

Still no further chicken deaths. I have mastered teh art of chicken raisery. However, the car I used for the death transport appears to now be haunted. Late at night when driving alone, I heard muted clucking and bock, bock, bocking. I am afraid I may be dealing with a poultrigeist.

I went and got fish yesterday for the aquaponic system from deaf Larry in Giddings. I got 30 google-eyes, 30 bluegill hybrids, and 30 tilapia.

They should be big enough to eat this fall. Only two were dead when I got home and I'm not sure Larry didn't slip me a couple of dead ones from the start.

I want to get a couple of miniature donkies. Evidently they are great guard animals and will protect the chickens from the foxes, dogs, coons (not racist), possums, etc., that are bloodlusting toward my hens. My wife is firmly against the idea, but she hates everything.

I watched my first Australian rules football match in ages last night when I couldn't sleep.

Damn that's a fun sport to watch. It seems like it combines so many of the best aspects of American football, hockey, soccer and rugby. Lots of fun.

Just wanted to announce my impending nuptials to whoever the host-lady is on DIY's "I Hate My Yard". My God, that woman is insanely gorgeous. Once I find out her name and she agrees to marry me, I'll let cosjobs know so we can have the ceremony at AO. I see no gaps in this plan.

Death wish marathon on amc has some promise.
Bronson was one of those non-glossy bad ### heroes, like Clint and McQueen. Love him.
First Death Wish was awesome. The sequels were terrible.

Keep an eye out for a young Jeff Goldblum as one of the hoods/rapists at the beginning of the first movie.
Very analogous to the Dirty Harry films.
True but I actually think Magnum Force is pretty good. Overlooked for the most part.

Do you use your car as a death train to the expense of your military operations?

No one's gonna sneak up on your place with mini-donkeys in place, my friend. They'll wake up people in Dallas.

I was just imagining how it must feel for the animals that are about to be put into Cos's car.

While reading this post, all of tanner's text in his original post moved off screen down to the right. Creeepy. I have never seen that happen before.

I'm guessing it's a bacterial infection from all of that animal feces you're handling.

Good thinking, my brother. Once I pay, she HAS to say "yes".

Doesn't she?

I'm currently weighing a drive to AO after my appointment at the apple store at 3. I won't be staying the night but might come down for some beverages and dinner. THe alternative is using my gas money on some beer up here, swimming and grilling by myself, and cursing PayPal for locking my account while everyone else plays poker on stars.

Is anyone here a John LeCarre fan? I've been on a bit of a spy kick recently, and I just picked up Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and have been impressed by the quality of the writing (still reading it).

I tried to watch that movie after a 12 pack. Needless to say I had no idea what was going on and gave up quickly.

Never read any of his stuff but the latest film version of Tinker, Tailor was pretty solid.

I've never watched the film, but I like his writing style.

The story is told in a murky way on purpose, so it's intentionally hard to follow, but I'm liking the little things about his writing, the descriptions of people, the observational asides he makes, etc. Good stuff.

I'd add that I'm better equipped to understand what's going on in this murky story by having read Between Silk and Cyanide and Spycatcher. If I had come in cold, without some built in knowledge of espionage and spycraft I'd not understand what was going on.

I chuckled the first time, but now you just seem to be pecking for compliments.

Computer herp update

Uninstalled everything and downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials. It discovered DOS/Alureon.J, a trojan. It errors out when trying to remove it, however.

The above sentence represents eight hours of work. I'm shopping for a new computer today.

I didn't want to end up with egg on my face from a bad yolk.

I'm standing in the apple store as we speak. Want me to grab you a MacBook Pro with retina? It's no problem, really...

Unsure, but it is in the Master Boot Record. Altering starup order in the BIOS may be part of the cure, if I ever get to that point.

 Unwilling to surrender to the Apple ecosystem, though admittedly without a logical reason.

colin - swype quit working on my phone and I don't feel like pecking all this out.

Movies I might recommend on Redbox now:

Come Out to Play - I don't really like this kind of movie, but if I did, I'd like this one.

Jack Reacher, Last Stand, Parker and Snitch - are decent actioners. Better than average for the genre, but that's not saying much. The stars are solid and comfortable in their roles.

Silver Linings is very good

The Impossible is the best of everything listed thus far

Les Miserables was decent. Hugh Jackman is pretty amazing

This is 40 is mediocre and overly long, but funny

Rust and Bone is very good, but not easy to watch

End of Watch was very good and under-rated imo

Seven Psychopaths was a lot of fun

Looper and Flight both worth a watch

Celeste and Jesse Forever is pretty good

A friend of mine is wondering on Facebook whether a woman ahead of him in line in the supermarket this morning at 6 a.m., buying 6 1.5L bottles of Gallo wine and a big package of toilet paper, was planning on doing wine enemas. The consensus so far is "yes".

Rented Silver Linings, Snitch, and the Master and then promptly turned Silver Linings back in :bag: because I wasn't paying attention to which movies I was returning. Meant to return the ones from last night. So I have two movies istead of three.

The master is good, but I doubt it will be much fun to watch alone and drunk

Someone explain Instagram to me. I thought it was just a place to store and edit your pics. Just went to it for first time in ages and after clicking around i see people requesting to follow me and options for me to follow people. Is it like twitter or Facebook but just with pics?

Should I just pm Shuke?

LeCarre is awesome. The entire Karla trilogy (TTSS. The Honorable Schoolboy and Smiley's People) is awesome. Also a really big fan of The Perfect Spy.
