GM's thread about nothing (22 Viewers)

Hi. Survived weekend. My wife didn't actually make it over on Saturday or Sunday, but things were good on Friday with her parents.

Also got big work project done on Friday. Have to take tomorrow off, I'm burnt out.

Glad to read that, GB Shuke.

So I have this really goofy female cousin that lives in Washington state. She's about 55 and just went through her 3rd divorce. Nice enough to be around but she has some issues. For the last 10 years or so she's had some ongoing fued with her slightly younger sister (who is cool as hell).

Basically since she doesn't speak or interact with her sister she has excluded herself and her daughters from all of our big family events/reunions. I dont' think I've seen her for about 8 years.

Found out the other day she and her girls are coming through town on their way to Arizona. It was decided that she wanted to get together with all of us Bako people for dinner. Find out last night that it is to be tonight...at 6:30...right in the middle of the season premier of "Breaking Bad".

Bimbo.
Just "tape" it for later. Commercials are for rubes anyway.
Thanks for the advice, Farnsworth.

Is it just me or are about half of the posters in the Breaking Bad thread dumber than ####?

The fact that Raidernation is "upper tier" in that thread speaks for itself.

My God, I'm anal. Got three new company-logo shirts on Friday. I evidently couldn't stand to have an unbalanced amount of company-vs-civilian shirts so I went out & bought 3 new polos. Now I'm pissed because I ran out of "good" hangers. FML.

eta: I am actually taking stuff to Goodwill tomorrow so I have enough hangers
I don't own a single polo shirt. Not one. I do own 3 t-shirts with book covers on them, 1 devoted to beer, 1 featured a Lego version of Hunter Thompson, 1 Andy Warhol, 1 with a line by a British comedian (Eddy Izzard's "Cake or Death"), and 1 with the NPR logo, along with several plain white and black.

So I'm on vacation. Sort of. I have Flaming B for the next three days, but I don't have to be anywhere or do anything work-related. Next week the family is going away so I'll be on true vacation.

What to do? (besides cocaine and hookers)

I'm going to work on an art project I've had rummaging in my head. It partly involves shooting a twelve gauge shotgun at a heavily painted canvas with a bag of cow's blood behind it, causing the blood to splatter all over the canvas (and also leaving a really big hole).

I know what you're thinking: "further proof that flysack is insane." Ok, you have me there, but hey, at least I'm not bathing images of Jesus in my own urine.

Say what you will, but my vacations are interesting.

It's old hat.

My mom has started incorporating Tanner Shtick into her daily routine. We were visiting my brother in Minneapolis and we went to the Arboretum, she kept asking my daughters if they wanted their pictures taken next to Bucky the Badger. After the third time we stopped correcting her.

half seems like a low estimate. that thread is awful to read.

I like watching tv shows. I hate reading about them on message boards afterwards.

On Saturday, I also managed to run my riding mower into the fence door trying to make too sharp of a turn. Well it bent the axle so now I'm going to be out $80 just to have somebody pick it up and look at it. Then later Mrs. SLB broke the vacuum cleaner. Just went out to the garage as the front tire on Cal's bike is twisted. Seems Mrs. SLB ran it over. Not surprisingly I guess, my stomach really hurts still. Didn't sleep at all last night and had stuff lined up first thing this morning. I think I may have drank some herpes Saturday too.

Taking my lady to the Allison Inn after wine tasting through the heart of wine country (as opposed, I guess, to the heart of lemonade country). First time we've been on an overnight sans kids and sans pregnancy in perhaps 2 years. Could use this.

Not sure what Kev's ideas are for this pick, but I'll go ahead and put our pick in spoilers below. Iffin this guy is picked, text me and I'll repick. Much love, GM

Ordered up an $18 bottle of beer last night. Felt like John Travolta in Pulp Fiction, aghast that a milkshake could cost $5. I just had to experience an $18 bottle of beer. And while it was very good and it was the large sized 22OZ variety, it was not something I'd ever seek out in a store or order up using my own money (was drinking and dining on the gift card from my boss).

Is this normal in the beer nerd circles? Seems egregious to me. I'm sure the mark up was huge at the hotel bar, but I'm guessing he sells his bottles for a lot of money at fine retailers too. My Link

I'm not a huge expert but when I price the more expensive "craft beers" it seems that the system is rather arbitrary.

Here in California we call that a "gate".

I bought a $30 bottle of beer at the cascade barrel house when I was down in Portland a couple weeks ago. The worst part? It's named "tangerine dream."

I'd just like to awkwardly remind you all that I am indeed straight.
