At the beginning of every school year I like to go through all of my student information files (electronic) individually. I do this so that I will know ahead of time if the kid has any sort of an issue.
It might be medical, psychological, etc. If there is an issue a little icon will pop up. There's a caduceus for medial issues. There's also a yellow triangle for something learning-wise. My favorite is that if there is any sort of a custody issue ('Timmy's father may only see him on the weekend!' etc) the icon is a black silhouette of a man. It looks like a target to me.
It seems like every third kid has some sort of medical alert. 80-90% are for asthma. There are also alerts for various allergies bee stings, nuts etc. There are also usually a bunch for migraines or just headaches in general. Of course there alerts for more serious things like diabeatus or hemophilia.
Today I came across one I'd never seen before.
"Kailey wears a retainer".
I've got to keep a close on eye on this kid.
