GM's thread about nothing (127 Viewers)

Has everybody paid yet? I'm too lazy to look up. Be on the honor system here.
No.

But I probably will.
Why are you back in Youngstown?

Also, went to the Jesuit/Lake Oswego HS Football game on Friday. Two of the whitest, richest schools in the state squaring off on a nice summer evening. The shorts have gotten much shorter since I was 17. All I could think of was "Thank god I don't have a daughter".

Oh, wait....
This year the school district put the hammer down when it comes to short-shorts. Bottom hem of the shorts cannot be higher than the tips of the fingers if a girl puts her hands down to her sides.

So far it is working very well (sorry, Homer). Of course there are some really sluttily dressed T-Rexs running around.

Let's not judge

So just to be clear...it would be nice to use the "sick cat" excuse to move back. Well, maybe not nice, as we might seem like crazy cat people, but at least easier.

There are lots of reasons not to stay, but the most urgent is the sick cat problem. If not for him, we'd probably stay another couple of months but would still get back. As it is, we'll come back end of September and station in Atlanta until we figure out a next move. Mr. krista has good connections there .that should score an interesting job, though his best connections would be in New Orleans. Other than the stress on the cats (yes, apparently we're crazy), I don't mind taking a bit of time to check things out and find a great location. Totally understand the negative thoughts on Savannah and could see that being an issue. We liked that it was beautiful and had great history, architecture and food.

At this point would just like a place with decent weather and a not-crazy COL. Mr. krista was heavily in favor of the Pacific NW, but I fear the COL and general dreariness (as opposed to Malaise). Open to DC, Austin, Denver and a few other spots but ATL seems a leading contender right now.
Fixed.

ETA: The Oakland hills are a really great value for the kid-free. Maybe that's a relative term, but if you're not hung up on having 3000 sq. ft., you can get a cool house with a bonkers view at a pretty reasonable price.
Love the Hills, but don't forget the fire insurance.

Why do I keep going in there? One of the best episodes yet (for those who watched,

The Fly
) and the majority of posters are complaining about it and calling it a filler episode. Are there really people out there who want everything to be action and intrigue and explosions without realizing that without character development you wouldn't care about the action that takes place? I see why Truck checked out of that thread and why Tanner ends up in fights in every TV show thread. Sometimes I think the posters here are pretty smart but when it comes to TV and movies there are a lot of dummies.

I was also a fan.

Right. It's not an action movie. There's a whole thing where people "root" for certain characters and against others, which is one way of looking at it, I suppose. But given that a lot of the "prestige" TV shows are now built around characters who aren't clear-cut "good guys" or "bad guys", it's surprising that people keep looking at Breaking Bad like it's Star Wars.

But then the troublesome bit is that if you're going to have "good guys" and "bad guys", the "good guy" has caught far less #### for his misdeeds in that thread than Skyler has for "being #####y."

Oh ok, you actually did want in depth Timmyesque character analysis.

Sorry, pass.

Never lived in Atlanta or New Orleans, but having visited each city dozens upon dozens times, New Orleans kicks the #### out of Atlanta.

Right, because timschochet has led the efforts across the entire internet to analyze Walter White.

The show is a character study. Now settle down.

Savannah seems small. I liked what I saw though.

Any place that let's you walk around outside with beers/drinks is a good place to be.
Damn, that is so true.

We liked it a lot, but I fear the smallness you mention, too. Seemed like a great scene but could get old quickly? The plus is that it's so close to Atlanta we could move there easily if it didn't work. I also like that we could live on an island (Tybee, Wilmington, others), not that we necessarily would.

It is not surprising, I"m sure, to hear that I am totally confused about what I want. Definitely thankful that I have the ability to #### around and try to figure it out, though. :/
Outside of the historic district, Savannah is pretty crappy. Now, the historic district is spectacular, but, as much as I love visiting there, I don't think I could live there.

I spent the majority of the long weekend drunk in the adirondacks with my cousin. He's 28 years old and very entertaining. If you didn't know him, you'd probably think he's mildly mentally challenged, but in a humorous way. He pretty much has a zero success rate with the ladies, but he makes for a good wingman even though he doesn't realize it. I almost ended hooking up with young lady that was way out of my league and mostly it was because she thought it was sweet that I took my "challenged" cousin out for a night on the town. She was out with a group of friends and apparently the male friends didn't like me hitting on her and one guy was totally trying to get me to throw a first punch at him. But after a couple of jokes and a round of shots I suddenly became best friends with these guys. The girl ended up leaving and I ended up hanging out her guy friends for another hour doing shots and entertaining them as I danced with an elderly woman.
Almost!

Three more positives for OAK:

1) The weather kicks the #### out of nearly every other place's weather. Hot weather is for #######s, as is snow.

2) Plenty of really good restaurants just on this side of the (brand new!) bridge alone, never mind SF. And a chef (I would imagine) would miss the worst of the commute if you drove in to SF, assuming you leave mid-afternoon.

3) If...IF, for whatever godforsaken reason you want to jump back in to werk, plenty of options there for what you do.
What do you know about the San Mateo Highlands these days? Way overpriced? Still a good reputation?

My little girl started kindergarten today. This is horrible.
Looking forward to scrolling right by the facebook pic.
:lmao: Holy crap.

Actually Frosty's daughter is scarily photogenic. I'm betting their old mailman was a handsome fellow.
You have no idea how many times I've heard the mailman joke.
Meter Reader? Pest Control Guy? Horny Dude Just Walking Down the Street?

The 17825634th that got away.

Looking over the roosters I count 2 PUP players, 10 players on IR, 8 waived players, and 1 player already on IR when drafted. I am assuming the waiver wire will open up tomorrow so we can all fill those voids on our team.

NO WAIVERS because TigerFan complained about it.

Too tedious.
I still say that if you lose 3 games in a row, you should be able to make one move.
I like it. But I'm not sure Yahoo's free service makes this process as easy as you describe. We could probably do it offline, but really, I'm ready to put this league on autopilot and run my other 2 leagues which have tedious trades and waivers and such.

Glad we can agree
