GM's thread about nothing (23 Viewers)

Did a little voiceover work for United Way Austin today. They told me that I was the best of the seven volunteers they brought in to record that day. So you can add that to the list of things that I'm good at but not good enough at to get someone to pay me to do it along with conference emcee.

Also found out that I really need to be working on an MBA (not necessarily finish, but work on it) if I want this VP job when the current guy retires. The thing is that I REALLY don't want to make the effort to pursue an MBA.

GM>we will probably have to sit Trent Richardson this weekend.
BILAL POWELL TIME!!!! :excited:
Not sure if you saw but ivory looked damn good. Which is good because Bush might be dead already.
Powell still our best option, because I though Jonathan Stewart would recover quickly. :bag:
Donald Brown time? :oldunsure:
Against a pissed-off Niners squad? Not crazy about his chances.

I'd like to do voice over work too. Teach me?

Miss had tests that show she is pregnant but her ultrasounds showed nothing. It seems it's the same thing that happened last time where she miscarried very early on but her body still reacts like she's pregnant.

Thanks to those for the positive thoughts.
Sorry to hear. I went through that sort of thing when the ex was going through fertility treatments. Lots of false alarms, including one after we'd told both families and gotten them all excited.

No shtick, you might find it interesting. And I'm guessing you could get it paid for by your company.

1. Read your script out loud several times before you record.

2. Don't #### up your lines.

3. Don't sound like an #######.

That will be $19.95. We accept PayPal and Best Buy coupons.

Damn, sorry man.

I'm sort of glad we aren't all that close with family. Basically, it's just us and the kids we have between us.
#### happens. Thank God I go for gallows humor. I can usually get the hangman to chuckle.

The worst one for us was when after we'd shelled out 30 grand for treatments to have JR, Angrywife got pregnant the old fashioned way. We waited until it was "safe" and told everyone and then she had a miscarriage. On the bright side, Yuke was $10K cheaper than his brother.

They will pay for it but it still interferes with my life goal of being as successful as possible without making any actual effort.

Sweet baby Santa Jebus. :jawdrop:
The only thing I have going for me is that I'm going to blow these kids' minds when we talk about how babies are made.

"You see, mommy's in stirrups in a sterile room with a bunch of medical professionals while daddy's in the bathroom with a plastic cup watching a video of a naughty real estate agent who is showing her father's best friend the bedroom in his new house..."

Then I'm going to show them the baby photos of themselves when they were an eight-cell mass. Should be a good time.

Fear not! You don't see the forest for the trees or whatever. Anyone getting an MBA after 30 isn't going to learn anything. But you will make great connections that will give you a chance to move from corporate ladder vp in training guy to coo of well funded startup on its way to IPO guy.

MBA at your age is about connections. You won't learn anything , but you won't regret the connections.

First time ever this didn't work.

I'm either boring or not trying hard enough.
Sorry GB, I drink a lot less nowadays especially on weekdays and one must be shammered to tolerate 3 hours of you opining on...whatever it is you opine on. Thopras you you and the miss, though. Maybe sometime this weekend ;) :banned:

Side note, wife and I just had the talk about her going off the pill soon. :oldunsure: :scared:

I've had this conversation. "Here you are as a blastocyst. Then here in 17 ultrasounds." My kid has a whole photo album from before she was born.

I'm not nearly so stressed about the move back as I was about the move here (a lot less work), but at T-30 hours I am getting a bit upset. Totally good with the decision to move back, but the stress of trying to pack up all this ####, three flights back and forth in 48 hours, and dealing with Nicaraguan and US customs with these cats has me pretty down. Seems petty in light of Imp's news, but good wishes are appreciated.

Doug> If I ever talked to people on the phone, you would be on the list. Hopefully that's some consolation.

Abe> I'd rather just straight buy my connections at this point without the trouble of going to school. That's the point behind being in the Young Leader Society. Also think I'm going to do Leadership Austin next year.

Tech question - Is there any way to put a stop to a Tweetbot thing? 8-10 times a day, a tweet gets posted with my company name in it. It says "Savings preserved despite Texas Mutual. AIA." The Twitter account in question is always a different random string of letters and always has between 0-50 followers and follows a similar number of people. The problem for me is that I'm the social media monitoring guy so every time this tweet gets posted, I get an alert on my phone. And I have to check it in case it's something real. It's been going on for a week. Any thoughts?

IN!

GB bentley, I actually think you could enjoy the MBA not for the connections but for the expansion of ways of looking at things, learning, etc. Business school always seemed like fun to me, unlike law school. Do it and enjoy it.

Sorry to hear the news, GBI/BSO/US/others I've forgotten. :(
I hope/assume that you oopsed my name there...just to fit in...that avi of yours, and this weight joke, how close?
I don't get this but am not trying very hard. ;) I had already corrected the initials before you posted.
I always assumed your avi was a pic of you and I've read some "fat Krista" jokes...they make me sad. Krista isn't jolly, Krista is funny.
Oh you know very well the avatar is me, 5-1/2 years ago. This reminds me, though, that I wanted to change it but swore to myself I wouldn't until hockey season was over, as I thought it might be bad luck for the Hawks if I did. I only have a couple of weeks to change it! Suggestions welcome.

Fish, we might need to talk about Eddie Royal
do it.
Brown hasn't been that awful though...

Suggestions welcome.

Hey guys. Isaiah Whitehead from the Bronx is one of the best basketball players in the class of 2014 and he's making his college decision tomorrow at 1:30pm Central time. He's narrowed it to Indiana, Minnesota, Seton Hall, St. John's, and Pitt. How about some thropawishes that he chooses Minnesota? Thanks.

Sorry Sweet J.

I remember that you offered a friendly ear during my divorce/custody issues. You need anything or just to chat, let me know.
:goodposting:

Sweet J is a good dude.

J, here's hoping you guys figure out a way to make it work, and she makes you happy.

:lmao: I just made a serious post to you and then immediately saw this.

ETA: I did write down that number, though.
That was Homer's number unless it started with 512. Don't give him my tasty Krista freebies.
It started with 512. :oldunsure:
Rock on, then.

So at the wedding I ran into one of my wife's cousins, who is in culinary school, and I asked him how to make my favorite dish, veal picatta. It's actually a lot easier than I thought. This works for both veal and chicken:

You take the veal or chicken and pound it until it's thin, then you put flour on it. Put some butter in a pan and fry the veal until it's lightly browned on both sides. Then you stick the veal in the oven and bake it at 400. In the pan that has butter and flour left in it, you add a generous amount of white wine, lemon juice, and capers, and simmer at a low heat. The more butter, the thicker the sauce. (You can use olive oil instead of butter if you want.) Once the veal or chicken is fully cooked, you pull it out of the oven, and pour the sauce over it. Simple!

Tried it the other night, with a green salad. Delicious.
no reason for the oven. do it all in the saute pan on the stovetop. The pounded veal (or chicken) has no reason to cook in an oven, if properly pounded.

I chased him all over the innernets until he told me. The answer made no sense, but at least I have some sort of closure.

How much for you to do my voice mail greeting? You've reached the voice mailbox of <guster>

This isn't actually <guster>, it's his friend from the Internet Bentley

Well, we did meet face to face this one weekend when a bunch of people from a magic football message board... never mind, that's not important.

<guster> isn't answering your call right now, probably out of apathy but possibly out of spite. Feel free to leave a message so he can ignore that too
