I'm in a confidence pick'em league with 40 or so folks. I've been running middle of the pack all season and had about zero chance of winning the big season-end prize before this week started.
Vitals: pick every game that week against the thread and assign "confidence" points starting from 1 (lowest confidence of that pick coming true) to the number of however many games are being played that particular week are being played. There are payouts for high score of each week (basically, you're entry fee returned) and a big payout for the season-aggregate winners.
I'm sure the gambling degenerates here know it but I am too lazy to follow up with the rules later for someone who doesn't.
So, this week has 13 games. Of the 12 played so far, I picked a grand total of 1 correctly. And that was my 7 point pick. I'm going to post the lowest point total in league history.
Going forward, I will post my picks here for lucrative fading purposes..

My wife and I were having a relatively lighthearted discussion about her headaches the other day. She was saying that sometimes lately her pain was "11 out of 10". I tried to explain to her that 10 is the max, you can't go above that. She said it was worse than that, though. So I said, "like Nigel Tufnel"? I got a blank stare. So I explained the whole bit to her. And she said, "but I'm serious, this is different. Mine are probably like a 12".

hey guys. I've been battling a ton of #### lately and not had much time to hang out much.
We had a big flood here last week and I found out today that the lady that cleans rooms here lost everything. She's probably about 35, married with a 2 & 5 year old. They had an apartment in the flood plain on Onion Creek and a wall of water rushed through it, four foot deep. They lost everything they had: clothes, furniture, etc., and both their cars were found destroyed about half a mile away.
They are now living with their in-laws - nine people in a 2/1 apartment.
I have a friend who owns a car lot and and he has a crappy old ####box van he just took in on a trade that he is going to sell me for the $600 he gave on trade-in. That will at least allow her husband to get to work Wednesday and maybe keep his job. We will pick her up/take her home to keep working here (with a $2/hr raise). We are also going to Kohl's tomorrow to buy them some clothes. I can probably hustle and find what furniture I cannot provide them, but they are going to need $3K to get another apartment. I'm broke and doing all I can but I cannot come close to helping the out on that.
So if any of you are feeling particularly benevolent, maybe you could send some donations this way to help out. I'll send out boxes of crap with at least one failed venture article of clothing included (WineBat and UHEM fans take note) for each donation of $100 or more.
Most of you have my phone and/or address to contact me, otherwise you can PM me here. I can even run credit cards if you want to do it that way. My phone is 5 one dozen 444 54hundred.
