GM's thread about nothing (43 Viewers)

Really, really, funny. I needed that.

My day started with an appointment where they gal let me wait for 40 minutes in the waiting room, then said she didn't have time to see me. This would turn out to be a minor inconvenience as far as the day is concerened.

After that, Mrs. SLB texts that this older gal she works with, that I've gotten drunk with many times, died.

About an hour later, she texts me that her boss's sister, I've also gotten drunk with her boss many times and was the subject of the dancing story at the wedding over the summer, has died. She's NOT old and wasn't sick. All we know for now.

Then I get a text that a long time good friend of her Dad's is missing. He always went by Bob, no idea his name was Clarence. I think he was at my FIL's side every single time I went to visit him. Just a great guy. He obviously doesn't have much time left but I hope he turns up safe. :(

I wish Clarence the best, but I have to ask why we're letting 89 year olds drive? What's next, giving Tanner back his license?

I'm an excellent driver

He was fine until very, very, recently. He also hung around my Aunt and drove all the old broads around. Mrs. SLB said she saw his daughter last week at my cousin's shop and she remarked how he was starting to get forgetful and was going to take his liscense. I remember when they took my FIL's license. There is nothing like taking something so precious from a hard core WWII hero mother ####er that has seen things you can't even imagine.

Parents coming over for dinner tonight. Wife and mother worked out a peace agreement over wine. Baby steps....

Also, my sister is completely insane. Her boyfriend also not exactly stable. Both unemployed. Both drinking like fish. Both depressed. Both going on vacation for the holidays.

On a scale of 1-10, how unglued will she become when she learns I've invited her ex-husband (who was my roommate and friend before they met) to Xmas Eve dinner?*

*He'll be with their boys while she's off vacationing. They used to be very close to my boys, but have been collateral damage during this year's fisticuffs. I didn't want them alone on Xmas Eve.....but my sister hates her ex and thinks I'm an evil person for palling around with him lately. Plus, screw her. She's been a gigantic thorn in my butt all my life and this year? She's exposed herself as being a selfish, feckless, hateful person who has no grip on reality.

Venting over.

Part 1 of my secret santa gift should be there on Monday. Just realized I forgot to put a gift note in it. So if someone receives something addressed to them unexpected from Amazon, it's from me :excited:

Part 2 (schticky party) will arrive after xmas...still putting the box together.

Also, got my SS gift the other day from Idiot boxer:

1. LSU snack tray

2. Saints "topper" - i guess like to put over your wine to identify who's is who

3. Saints #### ring

Thanks. Let's see GM's stupid numbering scheme for this one.
Blackshirt, green pants, front row is the sluttiest girl in the sorority. Book it
Or, you know....the girl holding the letter "P" in "Alpha". I would number her #5 here, but will leave it to the Numbering Nazi to show me how I'm wrong.
Also, the girl on the far right wearing the short shorts and boots? God I love that look.

#5 is probably the second sluttiest behind Not Pictured, who's boning the photographer's assistant in the pantry. Love her.

Glad it arrived.

I thought the topper was for an antennae.

Also, I think it's a wristband, but for you, I'm sure it works as a #### ring.

Headed straight from work to the Christmas party. Nothing like partying with a bunch of neurosurgeons who know they are on call. The rest of us will have to drink extra for them. TPW appreciated.

Bob, I'm beginning to be really scared that I know you, and have actually made physical contact with you as some point.

In all seriousness, so sorry GB.

Baseball question: does anyone else find it odd that perhaps the best second baseman of all time played for 8 teams (7 different) over a 16 year career and only once stayed anywhere for more than 3 consecutive seasons (a four year stint with Toronto)?

I'm more concerned with how much time pepper appears to be spending pouring over the obituary section of the paper.

Now that I think about it, I pulled an SLB and forgot to put a note in my SS gift saying who it is. I also forgot to add this about a donation in his name. Sorry GB.
I never put a note in stuff I send to FBGs. What are we, a sewing circle?
Are you going to be able to drive down to Cambridge for cocktails over the holidays?
Which day is this exactly? The 26th or 27th? I think you said something about the wedding you're going to being on Saturday, but I also think you said it was 27th which is Friday. I also think you mentioned it's some kind "girls gone wild"/swinger wedding? Is that true? And if it is true perhaps we could have triple threat wedding crashers GustThornZooks attend?
Pretty good chance I'll be able to make it. I'm trying to make plans with college buddies too and the 26th was one of the possible dates but I think the 28th or 29th is more likely right now
We arrive the evening of the 26th and depart the morning of the 31st.

There's some dinner the 27th, but will probably be done by 9-10

The wedding is the 28th. The evening should be free?

Other than that I've got nothing.

I'll probably have the cabby stop by a liquor store on the way to the hotel and get a few handles to last the weekend.

Mixed feelings on the wedding crashing. Sis is 62 and marrying her 58 yo gf.

We've had trouble getting along and we're getting old. Made this trip because of desire to make peace and I am the only one in the family that could possibly go and I want to be supportive of her.

The ladies and their friends all like to drink and have a good time, but I do not want to ignite a scene that would estrange her.

I think you could all make the wedding a smash or make my sister never see me or my parents again.

No pressure..

Gonna guess Roberto Alomar, though the math is a little MOPish and the reasoning behind his nomadic career is steeped in his assssholic behavior.

How do you know I didn't say his name?
already lost interest.
I think somebody has hit the bottle and in a surprising twist, it's not you.

Not particularly.
