GM's thread about nothing (20 Viewers)

Great news! They found Bob. He drove all the way to St. Joesph Missouri. Stopped in some shop to ask for directions. The clerk asked where and replied "I don't know". Thankfully he could remember his daughter's phone number.

Just heard my Uncle Fat died tonight. He's not an uncle by blood, he's just that close to the family. That's how I've always known him as long as I've lived. Oh and my GB facing major charges, his little sister died two days ago from cancer. She was my age. He's been off the map so I nobody has heard from him. He told me on the last fishing trip she wasn't doing well. I even called his old number a couple of weeks ago. Figured #### it. :lmao: I'm going to take my new lighter and smoke cigs and stuff and hang with you guys. Too buzzed to drive anywhere.

I wish Clarence the best, but I have to ask why we're letting 89 year olds drive? What's next, giving Tanner back his license?
He was fine until very, very, recently. He also hung around my Aunt and drove all the old broads around. Mrs. SLB said she saw his daughter last week at my cousin's shop and she remarked how he was starting to get forgetful and was going to take his liscense. I remember when they took my FIL's license. There is nothing like taking something so precious from a hard core WWII hero mother ####er that has seen things you can't even imagine.
We went through this with my ex-FIL. It seems so logical from the outside to take away the drivers license, but when you take that away you're taking away their independence and pride. It's a ##### of a process, and of course at the same time you're adding burdens to everyone else because if they need to go somewhere someone needs to take them.
It's something I'll never forget. He always considered me a friend where my parents consider Mrs. SLB more like a daughter. Anyhow, he was so mad at his kids. It was like being 16 and your buddies mom took his car keys for smoking weed and having empties in the back seat. It was really weird and sad.

The wife came through surgery pretty good. Good and bad news.

The good is that he's fairly certain he fixed the stuff that was causing her pain for the past year or so. Her right groin was a mess, hernia, major amounts of scar tissue, her lost Fallopian tube was inside the hernia, he fixed all that.

They biopsied her uterus because she has an enlarged uterus which is a possible sign of uterine cancer, and her liver shows the beginning stages of NASH disease. Which is a non-alcoholic version of cirrhosis if I understood him correctly.

A freaking long day.
GL to Mrs. Pack.

keep her away from SLB.

Christ.....best of luck to the Pack's.
Glll to you Pack and to Mrs. Pack as well. Hope things start to turn around for you both.

Also, Bob, I'm sorry for your losses, those these words seem like they are ringing hollow since I say them so damn much. It's like you and your friends are in a real life Final Destination.

I'm off of work until the 30th (possibly the 2nd, haven't decided). Boom.

I'm glad she's come through the day ok, and that you can get some rest, GB. I hope she recovers well and the new discovery about her uterus turns out well for her and you.
Thanks to all of you, much appreciated!

Company is screwing me. The corporate entity that is technically my employer changed on 10/31. In November a chunk of awarded stock vested. The company holding the awards did not withhold SS as I was above the max taxable limit for the year. However, because the virtual employment change, they should have. They now want to withhold what amounts to about 50% of my monthly take home to make up for the error.

This is especially frustrating since this withholding will be returned to me when I file. I have the money in stocks but I'll need to leave my position before I'm ready to pay for it. I've countered and told them they can withhold it at the end of Jan paycheck and the end of Feb paycheck. I know they won't do it because they want it cleaned up by the end of Jan for tax reporting.

1st World problems, but still...
That sucks man. I hope it all works out GB.

Highly (like freebasing high) recommend the documentary on Richard Pryor being shown on Showtime

Richard Pryor: Omit All Logic.

Whoa.
I've watched it a couple of times. 10/10 stars.
It really is fantastic. Even though I knew most of the story, I still I think I watched the last 30 minutes of it slackjawed
:goodposting: I would have loved to hang with him a couple of days. W.C. Field too. It's not like I'm going to be hanging with Bill Murray, who is still alive, anytime soon. At least he was until I typed that. You know what I mean though.

Please don't. I like Bill Murray.

Election is on one of the HBOs right now but it's about over. Perhaps its available ondemand or on HBOgo for those of you unfortunate miscreants who haven't seen it.

:lmao: I know right

I was just thinking about the "Fat" nickname. My Grandpa hung around all of his war/VFW buddies his whole life and they all had nicknames for each other. That's how they always addressed each other too. My Grandpa's nickname was Mouse because he was cheap and always rat holing his money. Then I just realized, I didn't know what my FIL's nickname was. It's not like I was hanging with those guys all the time. Fat just happened to my Grandpa's BFF (the served on the same ship) so he and his family were always at family events.

So I asked Mrs. SLB. She kind of bowed her head, looked at me and said

The Cat :lmao: :lmao:

My dad's dad was still driving at 89. Luckily up for us, it was a very small town, and everyone just kinda learned to look out for the old red Chevy pickup truck coming randomly in the other direction. His nickname at the domino hall was Benny because his friends weren't very creative. My dad was ready to take his license, but like Bob said, it's hard to tell a guy that stormed the beaches of Normandy that he can't drive his pickup to the domino hall and back. He died last December.

He also reminded me a lot of Abe sometimes. Mostly because his old red truck had a hole in the side of the gas tank, and gasoline started pouring out the side if it reached a certain level. So he never bought more than 4 or 5 gallons at a time.

This made me :lmao: & :) . Love you buddy.

Heard a heartbeat today. :pickle:
congrats. seeing my daughter's heartbeat on the ultrasound was one of the best moments of my life.
Thanks. :)

Insurance only lets us do 1 or 2 ultrasounds unless there's a problem, but luckily the wife's aunt is an ultrasound tech for high risk pregnancies, so we are getting a black market one this weekend when we are out that way for Xmas.
we did IVF and the ex had complications. 17 ultrasounds, plus microscopic pics of the embryo. I have a full photo album of pics before she was born.

she's in trouble when she asks where babies come from.

I used to think that but "we had you made in a lab" is funnier.

Baseball question: does anyone else find it odd that perhaps the best second baseman of all time played for 8 teams (7 different) over a 16 year career and only once stayed anywhere for more than 3 consecutive seasons (a four year stint with Toronto)?
by all means don't say his name.
Gonna guess Roberto Alomar, though the math is a little MOPish and the reasoning behind his nomadic career is steeped in his assssholic behavior.
And he's pretty ####### far from the best 2B of all time. HOFer? Yes. GOAT? No.

And GM is right, he's a #####.

You guys are going to look pretty ####### stupid when gas prices plummet and I'm the only one with a tank empty enough to take advantage. :coffee:

Really? Who is better?

You'd think that my dumb ### would take respiratory problems fairly serious. Not I, because I either fancy myself either a he-man or I'm a scared baby-chute - or I'm lazy (most likely). Anyway, after hacking various lovely shades of brown garbage up for a week (I know from coughing - this wasn't THAT), I went to the doctor. She put me on something called Z Pac (?), along with instructions to take Mucinex. Christ, I can't DRINK enough water - any of you guys/gals ever been on this Z Pac stuff?
its a high dose series of antibiotics.

When you're finished take some probiotics, yogurt, kimchi, etc. to rebuild your gut flora.

The dryness is from the mucinex. It works by drying out your mucus.
No, the dryness started before I got the mucinex. The Z Pac crap is horse-pill-sized (only 6 of them and 38 ####### dollars at that). They told me to take 2 of the 6 the first night. I woke up like 6 hours after falling out with a mouth that would make 10 Grit sandpaper jealous.

I have a city water bill here - there's a minimum that I've only passed once (when I just moved in & had a crapload of landscaping done that required watering). I suspect this may be the 2nd time I ring the bell.

I will take your advice on coming-down, though. Thanks, my friend.
Hope it works for you. I got on a Z-Pac when I was pregnant and got so sick after coshole. It didn't even touch what I was on. I am apparently in the very small percentage of people for whom the Z-Pac doesn't work. A plain ole 10 day Amoxicillan did the trick for me.
Yeah, the #### I get eats Z-Pacs like candy.

Throps to Pack and Bob and congrat to Leeroy.

Three things I know about SLB:

1. He knows a lot of people. I assume sales is part of this.

2. He's close with all of them. Who wouldn't want to hang with the SLBs?

3. They all die. All of them.

Most of them are family or close friends/friendds of the family, actually.

The only person here who saw Hornsby play was tanner, and until he weighs in Alomar is the right answer, even if he does have aids.

Sitting in my youngest boys room waiting for him to go to sleep because the ####er can't fall asleep on his own. He is laying in his bed whispering and playing with his stuffed animals. Best and worst time of the night.
