I'm listening to billy Joel really loud. Reading the zappos book for the third time. Drinking bud light from a can at my in laws after a night of seafood. Everyone else is asleep.

I hope this is what heaven is like.

What's a zappos book?

I'm guessing this.

Zappos is one of those companies that runs pretty much antithetical to how a normal company runs. I get a little nauseous when CEOs start touting themselves as having some fresh approach to business (yes, look at you). Just another way to cash in, I guess. Problem is, the more successful a company gets, the more traditionally corporate they become.

Problem is, the more successful a company gets, the more traditionally corporate they become.

Orbiting the Giant Hairball is a good read along these same lines. Haven't read the Zappos book, but they recently announced that they are going to a holocratic organizational structure, so I wonder how that will change what is talked about in the book :ODnerd:

Just finished packing for Vegas and watching The Lincoln Lawyer here. Belly full of Knob Creek. Wondering if UH survived the day.

Taking the guys to the new Children's Museum next Saturday morning. You + daughter should come along. I'll buy.

We'll see what happens. Read a great article on them a week or two ago when they announced they were getting rid of titles and managers and establishing self-governing "circles". I'm on my phone so too hard to search/link, but I'm sure people could search "zappos executives" and read about it. For now, at least, they continue to eschew usual corporate mentality.

At any rate he and I had a blast. Lots of playing and lots of laughs. For the past month or so I've got him putting his arms above his head when I say "Touchdown!" Today, we were playing with some blocks with Game of Thrones on TV and the Seahawks/Saints game behind us on my laptop. He turned his head back to my laptop as Lynch was running to the end zone and he looked at me and put his hands up. Top 5 moment.

Enjoying a few libations before bed. Looking forward to feeding him bacon in the morning.

that's an awesome place to watch. the only issue is that guster and Vegas don't mix very well. I only have two speeds, on or off and Vegas chews me up and spits me out before a night has really begun

So me and the boy got a 24 hour respite from mommy. She headed off to a bachelorette party in the Dells.

She called "Birth to Three" (a social service for kids that may or may not have developmental issues) earlier this week without even consulting me so we've had a few arguments about him but that's for another time, and probably not for public consumption. But I just had to get it off my chest. Not cool.

At any rate he and I had a blast. Lots of playing and lots of laughs. For the past month or so I've got him putting his arms above his head when I say "Touchdown!" Today, we were playing with some blocks with Game of Thrones on TV and the Seahawks/Saints game behind us on my laptop. He turned his head back to my laptop as Lynch was running to the end zone and he looked at me and put his hands up. Top 5 moment.

My daughter (2.5 yrs old) is in a similar program, for her speech delay. In my opinion, it's helped minimally. The biggest thing that helped getting her speaking was enrolling her in a preschool and getting her to socialize with kids of the same age, who were on schedule with their speech.

People tend to freak out over this stuff, but that's not to say that some kids aren't delayed, and if it's enough of a delay then it will start affecting their ability to perform to grade level in other areas once they get into school. My niece was simply not talking much until well after three years old, and she's still a bit behind in her kindergarten class.

Yeah, I get that. I'm all for any type of service that will help him. It's more about how she called and set this up without talking to me about it.

What are the arguments about? Are you subconsciously (or consciously) afraid that seeking help is some type of admission that your son is "not normal" or that you've screwed up in some way? Probably natural. I had same concerns that my wife was overreacting, but we got early intervention help with both of our children, and I thought it was great. PM me if you want.
