This is why I don't post here as much Bob. No one commented on my posting of the Mitch Hedberg link 3 hours before K4 did.

I'm like a third world citizen in this thread. Better go get my Kim Jong Un haircut.
You want I'll start putting people on ignore?

As I see some people posted, it's all in the delivery. Comedy is serious business like that.

Hey guys. Recent update?

I'm at home for the next several hours awaiting my new mattress to be delivered. They do the cable-guy style timing where it's anywhere from 1-3pm, which usually means 3:05 pm. I should say "newer" mattress since this will be the third one I've bought since the new gf decided mine was too old. The first time, we looked at Bob's Discount and she found one she liked, but it was like $1000. The sales guy had written the name of it down on his card, so one day with time to kill I looked through the "pit" where they have rejects. There was one in there for half price. I bought it and hauled it home myself, thinking it was a nice surprise.

I guess mattresses aren't a nice surprise though. I guess you're supposed to let your gf try it out even when it's the same one she picked out. Anyway, the second one was a high end job from Serta after I insisted that we needed one with a return policy. I guess it's not nice to insist upon a return policy in that situation, even though you got the exact mattress your gf picked out. That one was $1295.

I guess it's too firm, so "we" exchanged it for a softer model that I'm waiting to be delivered. It only costs a $125 restocking fee, so I guess I got that going for me.
I just....I can't believe that.....I mean how many..........You should tell her.......So you are.....

I'll just shut up.

Anyone familiar with the Kansas City area? Mr. YSR is getting deployed again Thursday (30-60 days) to Lees Summit, MO - it looks to be right outside Kansas City. It's probably a 12 hour drive for me and the bebe - rendering it next to ridiculous to make the trip - so this next 1-2 months is going to be rough. I saw that there is a handful of casinos in the area, but I'm wondering if there's anything else that he should look forward to?

Also, anyone want to come to Knoxville and help me be a single mom who is still trying to work enough hours to keep her job/benefits? .
That's where several of my GB's live. We've been there many times and plan on for the 4th of July again this year. Their house is where everyone congragates and I know without a doubt Romo would be welcomed with open arms. A lot of their friends are your age so he would be comfortable. Plus they like to play poker and other games. Shoot me a PM or text.
 Thanks, as always, GB.
Some of our best friends. They're 6 years older than us but we've been very close for (JFC has it been this long) 25+ years now. The chick is from Chicago and she somehow attracts transients the way it is and loves it. Every time we go to visit them there's some new friend there. Here are the two of us in this GMTAN Classic Pic®. She doesn't drink but half a dozen times a year anymore though. Sadly. Although she'll usually get drunk with me when we're in town. MWS on FB.

Around 1am this morning I was awaken to Mrs. SLB sitting up in bed punching me in the chest. Really going at it. I grab her by the arms and throw her down but she's still fighting. My eyes finally adjusted and I could see hers were closed. I kept repeating "wake up" and she finally stopped trying to hit me.

Then around 3am a thunderstorm hit. I love thunderstorms. I woke up around 3:30 because it felt like I was being watched and there's Cal standing next to Mrs. SLB just staring at her. It was seriously creepy with the lightening and stuff. I didn't even realize it was him at first and after getting punched in the chest half a dozen times, I was a little on edge. He finally nudged Mrs. SLB and asked to sleep with her because he was scared. My heart was pounding and I said a few choice words I regret. :bag:

Kinda tired right now.

I'd always thought Paranormal Activity was fictional, but this really explains a lot, Bob.

ANNOUNCE!!!!

I will be running a Master's Contest Thingee. Cost to join is $20. It's the same format that JTC used to run back in the halcyon days of yore. Details to follow, but it promises to be fun.
IN.
Thank you, Uni. You're non-grumpy, enthusiastic reply is greeted with sincere thanks, unlike the response of a curmudgeonly old civic's teacher who confiscates jelly dildos from his students.
Is this a frosty-sized pool or a big one?
I'm hoping we get around 20-30 folks. My dad, FIL, BILs and some co-workers are going to play. I'll roll the invite out here and to a few of the other leagues I run. Figure $20 is the sweet spot to get people interested. We'll tier the golfers into 4 or 5 tiers and you'll assemble your 'roster' from the tiers. Pretty simple. Lotta fun. Usually comes down to the wire. I'm a casual golf fan at best, but I love the Masters and really enjoy this contest.
Worlds Colliding
Bro, they've been colliding for years now.
How's the ol' man's book selling?

I think he's up to like 12 or something. He's working on a new one. I expect sales to double, so long as Cosjobs isn't one of the reviewers.

Oh no, did cos shred him?

just noticed cos left me a voicemail on Sunday.

cos>sorry for not getting back to you or listening to your voicemail yet. Please pick whichever one of these you believe the most:

I've been:

__ Busy

__ Drunk

__ Unable to retrieve voicemails

what can I do with linkedin? I have 100 or so connections. Is there a point?
For someone like me? No.

I would assume you could use it to post (they have posts, right?) something like:

HALP. MIGHT NEED A J-O-B SOON. HOOK A BROTHER UP.
New rumor is that I'm being offered a partnership in July.

Or the firm could be blowing up next Saturday. Was going to be this Saturday, but it got delayed.

I've got a cocktail/networking event tonight and a firm credit card. WOOHOO.

Now when you use a chick for sex and she breaks down, you can call the Auto Club to come get her!
I'll just stick to leaving them in a ditch.
I just had a vision of a robot prostitute being flung from a car that doesn't even slow down, Super Dave Osborne style. and it cartwheels and lands in a ditch on the side of the road.

Also, there's seed on the robot's face.

We can be friends on another medium!
This is a good question. I have a bunch of connections. Mostly friends. What am I supposed to do?I've noticed recently though that people I've had meetings with have either requested me or viewed my profile. I may need to put a better current blurb.
It's a good way for recruiters to find you. It's a good way to find decision makers at prospect conpanies. I use it a ton.

It's like we're soul mates.

Fish - it seems you like you are always about to break up or about to get married; about to get fired or about to get promoted.

More like pole mates.

Can we turn those three options into a single sentence?

Congrats on the real estate you're inheriting. In Hiroshima. In 1945.

I use it to research people before any business meeting. Also helped me out of a possible awkward situation a month ago. There were two agents that I wanted to bring as a breakfast event. Usually that's not a problem. But this time I learned that Agent B was a partner in Agent A's firm for eight years before leaving for a competitor three years ago. No way I would have known that without LinkedIn.

The other operating theory is that you need to be connecting and communicating with people when you have a good gig rather than waiting until you are in need and being seen as just a taker.

They guy I saw speak at lunch yesterday actually talked about this a bit.

Thought I'd share a few pics I found online from the funeral today of Lt. Walsh of Boston Fire. FF Michael Kennedy's funeral is tomorrow. I'll be there.

Chills. Those are beautiful though sad. Is there any more universally respected profession than firefighting? Love those guys.

Another story on how the guys helped find his wedding ring, something his wife wanted.

Did I keep a straight face when I typed that?
