GM's thread about nothing (66 Viewers)

That there's a specific thread set up for non-book-readers makes it different, IMO. Pretty much a #### move. A normal show, I say it's fair game as soon as the episode airs.
Agree 100%.

The thing about the show is that it really isn't about what happens but how it happens. As far as the story-lines go it's a pretty average show. Way too long-winded and melodramatic. In many ways it is worse than "Downton".

But the acting, action, scenery, costumes, dialog etc are fantastic. Not to mention some pretty good medieval tittays.
Since you were there the first time around I will trust your judgement.
Bravo

announce:

Mr. krista obsessing over hosting a "snout to tail" pig event for, among others, Drifter, 'ninja and wives. Menu developing.

ETA: I think Drifterwife isn't a meat-eater so alternate menu also being developed.
wtf
Really? Like this, for instance. I've been to several of these, where they use every part of the pig for a large multi-course meal.
Really.

And I doubt they use every part of the pig.
I've been to dinners where they used the tail, the ears, the snout...even used the blood in ice cream. It was insanely good.

I've been to every state. But not about 20 of them. But everyone of them.

Sorry you haven't experienced it. The sort of thing that makes it hard for me to go back to vegetarianism.

 And the answer is "NO".

Any of you travelers enrolled in the tsa pre-check? How hard is that to do?
I didn't enroll but just got it automatically. I don't know why?
Now that you mention it I think the same thing happened to my brother.
My daughter automatically gets it, but it don't
Are you guys sure? Some airports will allow random passengers into the pre-check lane based on a randomizer thing that looks like an ipad. But I doubt they're just giving these away for free.

Wiener dogs are evil.

Also, I'm done with the Game of Thrones thread. I hate everybody in there. The only decent TV show threads are the ones where you have 10-20 posts after the show airs and everyone moves on. The Justified and Hannibal threads are good examples. Great shows that don't need every idiot with a keyboard to expound at length about every minute detail.

And yes, wiener dogs are still evil. Like Joffrey-evil.

Want me to just turn the True Detective thread into something else?

You did masterful work there, my friend.

And while I checked out the thread often, any post that began with "I think" got skipped without a second thought. There were just soooooo many of those posts...harmless as they were, it was annoying.

The thing with the GoT thread is that there are actually people that know what happens. I'm just gonna talk to myself about it for 15 minutes every Sunday night.

In other parts of the world, it's more a concept of using as much as the animal as possible. Head cheese, shank, tongue, tripe, etc..

the concept of a meal that entails everything, including the entrails, is more of a play on words, piggy backing on the concept.

Flysack dropping mega spoils in non book Thrones thread. There goes the neighborhood.
I'm just going to put this out there...and not defending flysack in any way but...

If someone is really concerned with spoilers they should just avoid any threads, anywhere, discussing the show.
Generally, yes. There's 2 threads here though and 1 explicitly states and has asked numerous times to not hav people drop spoilers or hints from the perspective of having read the books. The link posted was bad but not terrible, however, Flysack's post was over the line for them. Just not cool.

Homer, feel free to PM me after Thrones. I have a few non-reader friends who I talk with about the show. I basically just let them spew on and predict and do not comment either way so as not to lead them on into any direction. I help them remember details from seasons past if they have questions or if they want background info from the books, but only if they ask. The Internet and our book thread are too dangerous to delve into if you're unclear on something or have questions.

I still haven't watched season two or read book two. Won't even open those threads.
You should do both of those things. And yes, I should really watch The Wire.
My mom was about to finish Breaking Bad last week, so I sent her the full series of The Wire to watch next. When she's done, I'm happy to circulate to others (Guster, too?).
Tre hooked me up, but thanks for thinking of me  The Wire is currently #1 on my top 17 shows of all time list

From the files of "The best defense is a good offense", a police officer used a taser on the wrong student yesterday here at the local high school. The kid was helping break up a fight and ended up on the ground in cuffs after catching a zillion volts. This on the heels of a 2013 incident where a kid was tazed while walking away from a policeman and only just came out of a coma. That student's parents are hopeful he will "be able to have some functional ability on the level of an adult....eventually."

Tanner: Be safe out there. Head on a swivel.

Hey Professor Boyle,

Is Mad Men splitting the last season into two parts a la Breaking Bad?

If so, why?

They realize they're not Breaking Bad, yeah?
Yes.

Because the pipeline is empty and they want $$$.

They will soon. MM is a stellar show but if it isn't Must See TV for you by now, splitting up the final season isn't going to do it. IT dimly isn't a "cliffhanger" type of show.

I enjoyed the show early on, but it's grown a bit long in the tooth for me. The story lines seem more and more contrived and some of the dialog has been downright painful. That said, I'll still DVR it and watch it eventually

So I just got an email accepting a proposal my boss and I put together on a special project to help the head of my function and the CEO of my company... and that the head of my function has already found the first team for us to work with.

I also have the entire set and am willing to have them sent to someone in here... if I can ever get them back from T Bell.... :kicksrock:

That there's a specific thread set up for non-book-readers makes it different, IMO. Pretty much a #### move. A normal show, I say it's fair game as soon as the episode airs.
:goodposting:

Regardless of who we're talking about here, I think it's pretty ####ty for a book reader to come into a thread where there has been a reasonable request that people not drop book hints/provide backstory that might lead to spoilers. I didn't see what flysack posted thanks to the ignore function, but I feel like it sucks that I can't go in there anymore.

I also clicked on Eviloutsider's link, but since I'm a pretty regular Imgur browser I had already seen that one.

Quite common outside the US
And in some places in the U.S. it was even a Top Chef challenge this year.

yep.. i started that thread because when questions arose and stuff I wanted points of view from other non book readers. I don't need people "helping". What aggravates me the most is " the but it was in the show " about some small detail you know to look for because you did read. Yes there are some that get way too defensive about no previews etc but if you read the books you already know. With that knowledge things seem "obvious" when they are not always. It's not a tv show we are all witnessing for the first time. Anyway as it is I can't go in my own thread now. People just can't help themselves

Yeah, some people just suck and want everyone else to be miserable. Like when Sansa kills her sister Arya.
