Got there a few minutes early yesterday. I'm chatting with a Steinway rep who's a friend of a friend. From conversations last year he knows I dropped $1k on a weighted key Casio (small loft, no room for a baby grand). He's trying to upsell: "we've got 325 pianos, at every price point." Oh, yeah? How much for that black one my daughters climbing on? "$250,000" HEY! Get the #### off the piano! Now! Go wait in the lobby until your teacher gets here.

This Kronenbourg 1664 stuff was everywhere in London so figured I'd try it in Paris. It was nice. Had a pint of Leffe later on with dinner. It was excellent and still cost about 7.50 euro. Some places charge 5 euro for a freaking Pepsi over here. With the exchange rate, that's $7 for a Pepsi. Wtf.

Used to get this in enormous cans years ago (made an oil can of Foster's look like a V8) but the distributor had trouble getting them so we forgot about them for awhile. Now I see it in 6pk bottles all the time. I like it, but it was more fun opening up a Hi-C sized can of beer than drinking it out of normal bottles.

 
Also, I think, this means somebody is reading through the 2-year old posts in here. I like to believe they started from the beginning, and should get caught up by 2016. I see you sports_fan, I see you.

 
That reminds me of that scene in Lost, from the episode Lighthouse, where, as Wikipedia reminds us, "Following the events of the season premiere, "LA X", Jack Shephard arrives late to pick up his son, David (Dylan Minnette), from school. Returning home, Jack is asked by his mother (Veronica Hamel) to visit her house and help her find his father's will, leaving David alone. While there, they discuss David, who was quite upset when his grandfather died, but never showed it to Jack. She suggests that perhaps David is "terrified" of Jack, just as Jack was afraid of his father as a child. Finally, they find the will, but Jack's mother is surprised to see that Claire Littleton (Emilie de Ravin) is included in it. Jack returns home to find that David has snuck out. Jack goes to David's mother's house, where he learns that David is at an important piano recital. Jack goes to the school, where David performs a stunning interpretation of Chopin's Fantaisie-Impromptu on the piano. Jack also runs into Dogen (Hiroyuki Sanada), another parent at the event, who praises David's skill and believes he has a gift. Afterward, David admits that he didn't tell Jack about the recital for fear of disappointing him. Jack explains his complicated relationship with his father and reassures his son that he can never be a disappointment to him."

You know, because that whole ####### episode didn't mean a mother ####### thing.

In NJ for a 4 day workout session thing on our business model. We had an outing tonight for all the people involved.

Heard one of my favorite songs, bowled a 132, and we had a buffet consisting of wings, ribs, onion rings, tater tots, nachos, and fried cheese sticks. Top 5 trip to a bowling alley ever.

 
Boss came to town. I gave my two weeks by phone but we talked face to face today. Was a good discussion and I think it will work out for everyone involved. He didn't ask me to stay, but did say he felt like if he had done a better job supporting my work over the last year I wouldn't have been eager to leave. Was sad but necessary and clears the air for the rest of the week when he will be on the office working with me.

I knocked off a red Solo cup of water in one pull not five minutes ago. My mouth is now completely parched. F'n diabetes is annoying.

Our living room?

The teacher arranged for a recital here. 18 kids, 12 first-timers. Pretty cool experience for the kiddos.

All that is wrong with NYC, encapsulated: this would always be great venue for a recital, but what makes it special is this is their last year at 57th & 6th. Closing after 90 years across from Carnegie Hall; the leasehold was sold for $50M so a developer can convert it to...yep, luxury condos. FU Disneycity.

Why is a veritable cultural institution that's been a force in the classical music scene for the last 170 years suddenly bottom line driven? Right...sold the company last year to KKR last year for like a half billion.

So wrong on so many levels...

Dude I have a $1,000 Casio keyboard (but it has weighted keys!). It's kinda sorta like an upright but takes up less room. Did I mention it came with a bench?

We were in a showroom of ridonkulously priced grands/baby grands. The sales cycle on their inventory is like 2+ years. 10 if they're pitching me.
