Romo was supposed to leave to come home tomorrow. He just got sent to Denver for 2 more weeks instead. I'm full-term in 2.5 weeks. Neat industry.
Jesus. My boss told me I wasn't allowed to travel anymore after it took 5.5 hours to drive home to Philly from Fredericksburg, va last week. I was already told no flights at the beginning of the month.

JFC. Is CA really going to spend $76 million ($50 mil in federal funds) on a giant trapeze net to put under the Golden Gate Bridge so people can't jump?

Weird. This hairstylist (who looks like a young Meg Ryan) is going to Emerald Downs on Sunday with her boyfriend, who is moving here from Portland tomorrow.

Well I'm a few weeks behind your wife, and there aren't any indications that anything is wrong or that Pennsatucky will come early. But yeah, he's 20 driving hours away. I'll be fine - I have friends I could call in case of emergency. I'm just more tired than anything. And I was really hoping I wouldn't have to mow the yards this weekend. :wall:

At that point, think instead of what it is about the house that you like the most. If it's the yard, for example, picture yourself with a beer out there, watching the kids run around and not kill each other.
I thought you were trying to make him feel better.
I'm pretty sure that we are writing into the sale contract that JR conveys to the new owners of our existing house.

Bob - I've done nothing more than shotgun beers with the lady United Way staffers. And middle of the afternoon karaoke at a tailgate after said shot gunning. Apparently the key to being liked is to drink a lot with people. Who knew?

Government is truly the solution to all our problems.

If you define "all our problems" as excess cash and access to credit.

After we get in the car, I say "hey who wants some new tennis shoes?!". They both say they do so I told them that would be the next stop. Then I told them that I didn't see any reason why their mother needed to know about that whole incident. I think I bought their silence, Dylan's cool, we'll see about Cal....
:lmao: So awesome.

Also, he rented this couple's basement apartment while in Colorado Springs for the last 5 weeks. We found it on Craigslist. I'm looking for a similar type deal in Denver. We're pretty much playing the murder lottery, right?
Ugh, that has to be so hard. I know you guys have family and stuff, but if there's anything I can do from afar to make things easier for you (order pizza delivery for you, have another drink tonight in your homer, etc), let me know

Dropped my daughter and her friends off at Summerfest last night. I pulled into a parking lot and asked if I could just pull forward (about 2 blocks) and just drop them off. The woman was nice about it, but said 'no, we can't let people do that, you will have to turn around and go somewhere else"

I said no problem and started to turn around but had to wait for other cars pulling in, so I told them to just jump put and walk from there.

The security guard starts yelling "YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!!!! YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!!!!!!!!" Screaming over and over, yet not getting off his scooter.

They jump out anyway as I still had to wait for cars driving by me.

As I pass by the Security Guard, he says "I hope they have a ####ty time", not loud, but it caught me off guard and I stopped to ask what he said. He looked straight ahead and didn't say a word, then it finally hit me what he had said.... As he glanced back at me, I nodded my head and said, "Thanks Barney Fife, I'm sure they won't". The ticket lady broke out in a little grin and I drove off.

What a doosh
I was really hoping this story was going to end with "so them I smashed his face into my car repeatedly".
Had a vacation day today and didn't want to spend the night in jail.

Buying a house:

Remind yourselves that for generations families had small houses, kids shared bedrooms, there were no home offices or play rooms or entertainment rooms. Also look at listings in crappy areas and see what small houses they are and what they are missing. Americans have some of the most elaborate middle class housing desires in the world.

Then try to find everything you want. But remind yourself that what you want is probably not an absolute necessity.
What about a wet bar?

If you can find some neighborhood kid with PayPal to do it for you, I'll pay for it.

I. Was standing in the rain wAiting...

Best round of mini golf I evah played was in the pouring monsoon rain in Houston while absolutely smashed. Those afternoon rain showers are a trip!!

And my peach tree is producing the most delicious peaches!! It's amazing, damn thing isn't even 6 feet tall and I'm going to get 30 or so racket ball sized peaches off it.
Patiently waiting for Chapter II...

I am definitely going to have some drinks tonight in her homer

Young Meg Ryan, like all hairstylists before her, had ideas of what she wanted to do with my hair. I'm not precious about my hair so am generally amenable to what these people suggest. She was describing some colored rinse she wanted to put on, and I told her whatever she thought would look good is fine with me.

Yep, I'm a ginger.

Ignoramus, you get first shot at mercilessly mocking me.

Very, very kind of you (and Guster :oldunsure: ), but I'm fine. I was just whining. I asked the doctor last week about things like mowing, carrying my daughter up and down stairs, etc. and he assured me that none if it will put me in early labor. I actually kind of enjoy the looks I get when I mow our front yard. I put on a pregnancy tank top and just watch the people drive by and stare. I must look like complete white trash. I should get an unlit cigarette and empty beer can for when I do it tomorrow or Sunday.

Seattle peeps: I will be going to El Camino in Freemont this evening around 8ish. All drinks on me and from there???
We're supposed to be at a soiree in West Seattle beginning at 7ish, but between my Mt St Helens nose and my absence of soul, I might bail as I'm not sure I want to be mingling with decent people. Pond would be good for me.

Fremont very close to us so good possibility we'll make it. Will text.

I have always loved this look - I think its held up well over the years too.

Put my house in CO on the market yesterday, two showings today, got a full offer off one with a pretty fast close. Question is do I let it ride through the weekend to see if I can spark a bidding war or jump on this one?

Are they paying cash or do they have a financing contingency?

It's a contingent offer but their close is July 9th. They are behind because they've lost a couple bidding ears on other offers. Mrs. Drifter used to be in the mortgage business and our realtor is a good friend. The mortgage broker is solid and the other contingent sale is past inspection and appraisal so it seems solid

They have a sale contingency? Ugh. No way would I accept that in Seattle, but the market in Denver might not be as on fire as the market here.

I think you should accept the contingent offer from the family you love and the realtor who had a great relationship with your realtor. This, of course, has nothing to do with someone accepting our offer in the same situation as recently as yesterday.

In any case, if it's a sale contingency, then showings should continue, and if you receive another offer they get a period of time (48 hours? I don't know what's standard) to remove the contingency or you can accept the other offer. As to accepting one with a sale contingency, unless it's a depressed market or the house is a difficult sale for some reason, I wouldn't do it.

Sounds like you're leaning toward accepting, though? I would normally not tell you to trust your realtor, but if it's a friend then I'd put more value on what he/she recommends, I guess.

Did they give you a little bottle with your soul in it to wear on a chain?

http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2009/08/how-to-make-a-pizookie-or-a-pizza-cookie-recipe.html

It was a long time before I realized that "pizookie" was a hybrid term for pizza-cookie. The zoooo-kie part was too distracting to actually sit down and think through the semantics. Plus, it really has little to do with pizza, besides the fact that it was conceived by the BJ's Chicago Pizza and Brewery chain, which has locations all over the West Coast and Southwest, as well as Texas, Florida, and a few Midwestern states.
can we talk about pakes in here?

shuke> take it easy

I like the idea of making it contingent on us being able to continue to show through the weekend and giving them first right of refusal on a better offer. The realtor was one of the 20 people (8 of them family) at our wedding in the Caribbean so we do trust her
