GM's thread about nothing (26 Viewers)

Hey Bob, did you get my text from Sunday (I think)?

I'm feeling kind of neglected here. ;)
Nope but I was really wasted on Sunday so maybe.

I haven't been around to post in a while but have been following along. Have had some of my own crap to deal with lately.

It looks like in about a week i am going to be without a job. I spent 13 years with my previous company and knew the time was coming to an end so i had an exit plan. Landed on my feet right away. Did not full see this one coming. So, I have no exit plan and have not really begun looking. I have a prospect back home in North Carolina that i am flying back next week to do on site interviews at. Other than that i am looking at being without benefits at the end of next week. I have never had to look into any of this COBRA stuff. All i know is that it is expensive as balls. Not looking forward to that. I have kind of been feeling down on myself lately and need to get out of a funk to start looking hard for a new job. My wife works at a small non profit and they have no benefits through their organization. So, she is starting to look as well. Some fun times ahead for us.

Just needed to vent some. Thanks for listening.
Sorry to hear GB. I hope things work out for you quickly.

Whatever you do, don't decline the offer of COBRA. You don't have to say yes, but if you say no you can't undo it and later accept it. Just let the offer expire. In the meantime, as someone else said, see if the ACA exchanges could be of any benefit to you. Keep in mind that if you get an individual plan via ACA exchange, you'll be starting with a brand new deductible from 0, and that deductible will reset at the end of the calendar year - and you most likely won't be able to get the coverage effective until 8/1 (so you'll only have a 5 month deductible there). Good luck.

Hang in there. I do know that Cobra is nothing to mess around with - there is a pretty tight timeline to accept it or you lose insurance. No matter how expensive you don't want insurance to lapse. Good luck, hopefully you will end up with something better immediately or with a better career future.
I don't think the lapse thing is an issue anymore, is it?
Very much so. He's got 60 days from the loss of coverage to get something via ACA exchange. He's also got 60 days from the COBRA offer to accept to reject it. If both of those 60 day windows expire, he'll have to go till the end of the year uninsured (unless another "qualifying event" occurs for him).

I routinely enjoy Reubens. Better than a Reuben?
Given the choice, I'll take a patty melt every time. And reubens are good ####

Anyone want to meet me at the Plainfield Fest tonight? I'll be in the beer tent.
I'll be in Riverside tonight. Heading to Chicagoland with my in-laws tomorrow :yeeeeehaaw:
I know a guy named Chuck from Riverside.
I'll ask every Chuck that I meet if they know Mr Roboto
Only the Chucks that are 6'6" and 300 lbs.
Arent they all?

Always good when a fresh face jumps in here and sheds some expert knowledge. Stick around.

Does that require reading the thread from the start? Not sure I'm up for that.

I love marble rye. Patty melt on marble rye is impure heaven. Which I prefer.
What exactly is a patty melt?
See, now we're going to have issues. And I want to like you
I've never had one. :bag:
Then you haven't lived, GB. You haven't lived
I routinely enjoy Reubens. Better than a Reuben?
No. But then again not much is.

I love Reuben's too. I also had a BLT at Beerhole even though they weren't on the menu. Mrs. SLB started to get all over me for being drunk and ordering something that wasn't on the menu but wala! BLT!

This is true. Custom framing is expensive. I've had decent results by buying the matte and frame separately, though. Go to hobby lobby or michaels and see if they have the right size matte. Talk to the old lady behind the counter and see what she suggests
I swear to christ I've never heard these two words used together before in all my life until the last month or so and every time I hear it, I get stabby.
Crabby-stabby?

Only if you want to read endless pages of what types of food people like and dislike, stories of successful and unsuccessful womanizing, debates over what brand of {insert item here - most recently mattresses} to buy, tales about drinking heavily mixed with empty promises to never drink again and view countless jpegs/gifs of cats and cats dressed as other animals.

If only sombody provided summaries of these things.

Best patty melt I've ever had was around 2:00 in the morning at the Monteagle, TN Waffle House. I had been out and walked in with a handful of crumpled dollar bills and change and asked the nearest waitress what kind of food I could get for the amount in my cupped two hands. She took pity on me and told me to sit and order whatever I needed.

I went back the next day and paid for my meal and tipped her very generously.

It's stories like this that drive this thread forward and into the history books.

My favorite for a long time was from Baker's Square. Just loved them there. It has been a very long time.
