Much closer to me when you finally start making naanThoughts on Poulsbo and Bremerton?
Bremerton? If you like living with loggers and shipyard workers, I guess.
Sounds awesome. Like season 2 of the Wires.
:hifive: There are worse things than hanging with the Sobotkas.

Late to the party, but Sir Mix A Lot does a righteous rap song about girls from the Bremerton area, referring to them lovingly as "Bremaloes". As in "That girl is a Bremalo". Considering his penchant for junk in the trunk (as evidenced by his seminal song "Baby has Back"), if he's calling out women for resembling bison, I'm guessing they must really miss the mark.
:lmao:

I would go with Owen Owen. You may think that's ridiculous to have the same name twice, well take it up with Boutrous-Boutrous Ghali, Bak Bak, or Yo-Yo Ma.

Or Flavor Flav, or Jose Jose.

why is everyone afraid of k4? anyone else in this thread moves 6 times in this short a span and it's 2 pages of questioning whether the guy's wife is cheating on him with a fella that has ball cancer and 15 fingers
oh man now you did it
Did what? Made yet another pitiful attempt at putting me down? SHOCKING.
Is this Furley vs K4 beef real?
As far as I can tell, he's had issues with me for quite a while. I only started responding to his jabs recently, though.

k4> I thought I replied, but can't find it. Drifter's right about Bremerton. It's a pit. You might like Bainbridge Island. Poulsbo seems like it would get old fast. It's a gimmick town.

You still need to check out my area. Take the ferry so you don't have to go through Tacoma.
I think location-wise your 'hood would be great. What's it like? Is there a downtown and any ethnicity to it, or does it just feel white big-box-store suburban? The latter is wouldn't be a good fit.

Bainbridge is in the running. Poulsbo I like mostly for location and the fact they have some decent restaurants, but I agree on the gimmick.

Also, since we all did such a bang-up job naming Leeroy's kid, can y'all name mine? We're at a complete loss. Last name is Owen so I think a one-syllable name would work best (or maybe a three-syllable?).
Romo is Clive Owen?
Swoon.

My 16-year-old kid is flying back right now from 6 weeks in Morocco. We talked to him 3 or 4 times while he was there - really tried not to think about him too much while he was gone, because we knew he was having a great time and didn't want to dwell on his absence.

But now that he's almost back, it's really hitting me how much I missed him. It's going to be so great to see him.

Based on Friday afternoon traffic on the two Beltways and 70 miles I have to traverse on the way to Dulles Airport, if I leave Baltimore when his plane is 1,200 miles away, we should arrive at about the same time.

Kind of crazy that he woke up this morning in Africa and will go to sleep tonight in his bed at home.

I thought Fish said the best burger place in his hood was Dairy Queen. Seems like food options might be limited down that way.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong. Maybe that's the only fast food type burger option.

Momma: Who the HELL are you?

Larry: I'm Owen's friend.

Momma: Owen doesn't have a friend!

Larry: That's because he's shy.

Momma: No he's not. He's fat and he's stupid!

Dave Barry reviews 50 Shades of Grey

As the book begins, Anastasia has somehow managed to complete four years of college, during which time she has had—despite being so physically attractive—no romantic involvement of any kind with anybody. In fact, she’s still a virgin. Also, she does not own a computer nor does she know how to operate one. She has no e-mail account, and seems to be only dimly aware of how the Internet works. At one point she says, quote: “Holy cow! I’m on Google!”

That’s right, Anastasia uses the expression “Holy Cow!” Also, when she gets upset (which is often) she says: “Crap!” When she gets reallyupset, she says: “Double crap!”

In short, Anastasia is a totally believable and realistic depiction of a normal twenty-one-year-old female American college student as she might be imagined by a middle-aged female British author who has lived her entire life in a cave on another planet.

That way all the southern Baptists will think you're good church-going folks, while you know you named him after your weekly wine consumption.

Seattle is awesome. I love almost everything about it, and there's no doubt that we want to stay in Western Washington. The housing market, however, is insane, which can be both good and bad. In our case it was bad because we bought a place we really liked but didn't love, but was our fourth try at landing a place, and it was good in that we bought a place that has gone insane in value in the short time we've had it, so getting out is easy.

Reasons to get out now:

1. The market won't stay this way forever. It could go up even more; it could level off; it could go down. I'm no expert and couldn't predict which. Taking the money and running now locks in a hefty profit in an incredibly short time. The places we would be buying are not experiencing the same market, so we wouldn't be "losing" on that end.

2. Things we want that this house doesn't have:

-A bit more interior space. We'd like more storage, an actual dining room, the ability to get a dog, various things that another 400-600 sq ft would accommodate.

-A bit more exterior space. Space for pizzanaan ovens, getting away from having close neighbors (our next-door neighbors just put a half-pipe in their yard--a freaking half-pipe!), etc.

-A view of water. This is mostly for me, but I get this peaceful feeling around water. Realized throughout my life I've almost always lived where I could see water, and this is a key item for me. We looked at and tried unsuccessfully to buy houses here with that view, and I should have insisted on it.

-Easier access either to the Olympics or the Cascades. We're spending so much time in both and putting a couple thousand miles a month on our car. The Olympics make the most sense because of my need for water, too, but ideally am looking for something that gives me some access to both, which is the reason we've focused on some of the areas I've mentioned. This might not be possible and we might have to go all Olympics. In any case would like to be closer to at least one.

We are clearly not going to stay where we are long-term, so again I don't want to waste time, BUT I don't actually think we'll move anywhere until the spring at least. I just don't feel like moving again yet, and more importantly I want to be sure we are getting everything we want before we do it again. I want to spend time in various areas and get a good sense for what we think. The "looking at houses" thing came up because as we try to gather information and understand various areas, we saw a house that checked all these boxes AND HAD A DUMBWAITER (which is oddly something Mr. krista has always wanted), so we thought we'd just take a look in case. Then that became "Well, since we're going out there anyway, why don't we look at these other few, too". Probably going to cancel all but two and just see them to get a sense of what's out there. If one of them is perfect on all the things I've described...I don't know what we'll do. We'll see.

Olympics are in Brazil in 2016. Move further South. HTH

Ethnicity? LOL.

Gig Harbor is small, wealthy, and about as non-diverse as a community could get. It's got a cool downtown and a lot of waterfront. There are some smaller restaurants that are great. Until recently, there wasn't much here in the way of chain type places..most stores and restaurants were unique, or maybe had a couple local locations. We have the standard Costco/Target/Home depot area, but it's set outside the main area of town.

There's an island mentality here...Tacoma is literally 5 minutes away across the bridge, but unless you work on the other side of the bridge, most people don't unless they have to. Same goes the other way..people don't come here from Tacoma just because (they probably can't afford the $5 toll).

5th best small town in America

don't know why, but I can't get that link to work with anything but #6. just go back one.
