GM's thread about nothing (61 Viewers)

Wife just finished the second to last episode of Breaking Bad and is on to the finale. Man I got chills from the music in the final scene of that one. So good.

Trying to get her to do Wires next.

I've got a wedding in Waukesha Wisconsin today. Took a day off work for an early afternoon wedding with no booze. 2 hr drive each way. Stoooooooooopid.
No booze? In Wisconsin?Where ya going to be, there has to be a bar close by that you can run to for a few
To be fair both bride and groom are recovering alcoholics. That's where they met (AA).
What could possibly go wrong?
Some guy could help a bridesmaid get her car out of a ditch. Then the bridesmaid could polish the guy's knob as a "thank you". The guy's wife could be watching the whole time.

One of them could relapse, making it really hard on the other one

everybody- I'm pretty sure "knob" in this case means "penis".

but I'm not sure why he'd need somebody to put polish on his penis. And what kind of polish? will there be a waxy buildup?

That reminds me of a 'movie' I 'saw' the other day. :oldunsure:

Speaking of polish, my son was watching a movie last night where the woman (Sigourney Weaver wearing ill-advised tight jeans) uses fingernail polish with rattlesnake venom, which she applied before scratch-slapping an poorly cast John Voight across the face, whereupon he overacted in 'this movie's just a paycheck' fashion by writing around on the floor. The movie was horrendous and if it wasn't clear to me before, it's very clear to me now that Shyla Laboof makes Keanu Reeves look like Marlon Brando.

Movie was based off a book Cooper read and loved, but even he thought the movie was dogshhitt.

Fact: a spider roll is the best sushi roll.
I used to think you were cool.
JESUS PEOPLE COULD YOU JUST GET WITH THE PROGRAM?!? I'M TRYING TO MAKE THORN MAD. WHY DO I HAVE TO SPELL IT ALL OUT FOR YOU PEOPLE?
You don't have to yell. I'm right here.
Oh, there you are. Sorry, didn't see you.

Can't help with your crab question, by the way. Don't really see blue crab out this way so much, what with all the delicious fresh dungeness and the like.
That's probably why I just asked about crab in general and only got specific when someone asked. What do you pay for a pound of dungeness meat?

On the coast, you can buy a full crab (cooked) for around $20. Sometimes if the season is hopping, you can get them for less. But you have to do all the work when you get home, which is fine by me. A full crab is about 2 pounds.

"Holes" I bought it on PPV a few years ago and was really disappointed.

We don't ever buy just the meat; we buy the whole crabs (though usually someone just gives us some). For the whole crabs about $8-9/pound. For frozen King crabs $30/pound and snow crab legs about $15/pound. No idea on just the meat, though--considering how much shell v meat there is on a dungeness, I'm thinking it would be $30+/pound?

OK, looked this up for you; keep in mind this is a touristy spot so more expensive, but they're showing dungeness meat only at $45/pound. Our fish place doesn't have a website.

Yeah, crabs that I cook and clean myself are super cheap... just checking on meat prices. I'm paying about $18 a pound for lump crab meat right now.

My dad talked to his doctor today. 100% cancer free. One point for the good guys.

Hey, what does crab meat cost near you guys per pound? Trying to gauge.
You could probably get some crab for free from Zooks.

With dishwasher talk a few days back it got me to thinking and I could really use a decent set of knives/steak knives.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good set of knives? I don't need chef quality here, and I have children/teens, so I would love to get a set less than 400-500 bucks that are decent. Assist?

:thanks:
I just bought some of these. We have had some Henckels for years and they are still sharp but somehow we've lost 3 of the 8 we originally bought. HTF does that happen? :oldunsure:
Start hiding knives?
Stop hiding knives when you are drunk or high. I probably could have just said "Stop hiding knives"

####### awesome. So glad to hear this.

Speeches delivered. The audience laughed in all the right places. Nobody had questions. Pretty sure we are changing hearts and minds here.
Do you write your speeches out ahead of time or just have talking points and then wing the specific delivery?
How do you do it?I'm a big proponent of knowing your subject well enough that you can wing it with very few prompts. Too many things can go wrong with a written script.
I'm definitely a wing it guy and I agree you have to know your stuff backwards and forwards to be able to do it. For me that's not usually a problem as I'm almost always speaking to people about thing directly in my area. My most common larger audiences, are new employees undergoing orientation, field operations leadership (have that one in a few hours) or my suppliers.
Gotcha. I really never have to talk about anything that's outside my area of expertise. Right now I'm generally talking to external audiences about "the brand," proposed legislation (which is what I did in College Station yesterday) or about philanthropy.

I always start off with something related to the audience and typically something self deprecating. You can almost never go wrong making a group feel better about itself. In College Station, I talked about how bad the Aggies beat up on Texas when I was in school, when I talk to our IT group I mention the fact that I got kicked out of the computer science program, etc.

Gratz frostydad!

Fictitious ways bentley ingratiates himself to an audience:

When talking to Breaking Bad fans, he mentions the meth lab he ran in college.

I just read that Scott Mitchell is on that reality show where fat people lose weight. Fat Brother, or Biggest Survivor or whatever, apparently he was up to over 360lbs! He could be his own left guard at that size.

That's about what blue crab goes for here too. Backfin will be a little higher and claw a little lower.

Of course, we ship in more from your neck of the woods these days than we bring out of the Bay.

"Never a day have I felt so free, as the day I freed myself from the devil alcohol!" continued Bently, drawing thunderous applause while speaking yesterday at the fourth annual Woman's Christian Temperance Union Gala and Horse Auction.

I punched myself in the face the other night. Actually true.

1) Have arm fall asleep

2) Wake up flailing around

3) Roll over and swing arm that you don't really have control over towards your face

4) :moneybag: :topcat:

Don't worry, I'm OK.
