GM's thread about nothing (24 Viewers)

Finally gave notice at current job (think I was supposed to do it around 18 pages ago) after a lengthy background check at new job. It went much better than I initially expected. I know people aren't happy I am leaving, but they understand. Not a real confrontation guy so this is something I have been dreading. So expect the worst, but hope for the best. 15-20 commute plus a couple days working from home and a significant raise with promotion was really too much to pass up.
Sounds great- GLats!

Dylan had a baseball game tonight and we went despite the lightening. I was surprised (####### wasn't) that the umps never got a call from the cocksucking mother####er running the show to call the game. Again. I waited for half an inning thinking someone would call or come to their senses but no. So I told Dylan to grab his stuff, it wasn't safe. Told the coach, my GB, and a couple other parents sitting by us. GB tells the umps nobody on his team is playing. Other team's coaches are furious because they couldn't see what the big deal was.

Guess I'll be calling City Hall tomorrow. I hate people.
Over here, if there is even a lightning flash on the horizon, everything stops until 30 minutes after the last flash, regardless. Usually they cancel the whole game rather than even wait it out. Thought that was SOP everywhere.
You would think so. It has been thunder storming since last night. We should be there still waiting this out.

Pretty sure the entire STL area has demonstrated their apathy toward life.

It's actually pretty simple. I don't remember being blown away by the recipe or anything but they're really good. I think the secret ingredient is love.

I totally understand this, and you should call.

Outdoors sporting event, dangerous weather on the horizon and having met Bob before is certainly a recipe for disaster.

He has been my Jesus-and-baseball-lovin' stepmother's favorite player since meeting him about 25 years ago. He was very cool and super-nice to us.

First and last game I saw at County Stadium in Milwaukee was against the Royals. Actually true.

I probably asked this already...

Eminence is one of you, right? Playing the "entitled, uppity defensive dumb young white guy" schtick?

How'd you meet him?

Taking Cooper in the Middle to the Ducks game tonight. Poor dude is always getting it bad from both ends. Big brother belittles him, bosses him around, dismisses him, ignores him. Little sister for some reason chooses him to take out her frustrations at being a 2 year old, always yelling at him, hitting him when he's trying to be nice to her. And of course, with the way life works, he's the middle child in every way. Everybody dotes on little Hazel and praises Kellen for excelling in school.

And yet Cooper just wakes up every day smiling, does everything he is supposed to, nice to everybody, easy going, lets most things roll off his back (though one day, he is going to obliterate his brother and I might just turn a blind eye). Perfectly content to spend all day outside playing sports or just curling up on the couch to watch sports or the Simpsons. Treats his sister like a princess even when she's mean to him and is constantly being asked over to friends' houses on the strength of good manners and low maintenance.

So I'm taking him out of school early today (emailed his teacher Monday for approval to make sure he didn't have a test or an activity), road tripping with him down to Eugene and going to the Ducks/Arizona game. I rented Rocky II from the library and he'll watch that while we drive down. He saw Rocky this month and can't wait to see the rest of the series (I refuse to show him V, though). Little man is pumped up for the night and so am I. He deserves a little special treatment.

tl;dr proud dad, excited for the night, Go Ducks.

Hope Cooper doesn't like tightly-contested defensive battles, the total's up to 84. :lmao:

Good job, Pop.

he was at my restaurant
I didn't know you were a restaurant guy...you're no Abe or Bentley when it comes to talking about your job.

One of the local sports radio guys is a Kansas transplant and huge Royals fan. He loves George Brett. Said the guy can spin a yarn like no other.
he was holding court. him and some front office guys in a private room. story after story. very amusing to say the least
