First a motorcycle, then a boat....what odds can I get on a horse next?
Do you realize how unsafe it is fishing from the shore? There are snakes. I'm trying to be safe here.
Poisonous snakes are reason #345 on the list of why I moved away from Texas. Scare me to death, especially the moccasins.
Snakes don't wear moccasins.

Only the noisey ones.

I was at an estate sale today and they had a 1941 14' wooden chris craft for sale. Just a plain boat. No motor or cockpit or anything fancy. Looked like it would be a cool craft for fishing the creek behind my house, but unsure about portaging it. Cannot find anything on it on the internet. Anyone have any ideas? They want 2500 which is about what a good aluminum jon boat would run. Thought i might offer 1500 tomorrow. Is quite pretty.
cos, how wide and deep is the creek?
right now about 30 ft across and 4 to 6 ft deep. flucuates with the season. Dry or a trickle 4-6 months a year.
that boat looks great- but am I wrong in thinking a wood dinghy like that might not be best in water that risks scraping bottom (like a creek)?also- wood boats= maintenance. my dad had a wood sail boat- lots of work (granted- on salt water).
That's my biggest concern and why i inquired in here. Don't know much about wood boats and rocky portages seem risky
Yeah, that's why I was asking. That boat draws more than I'd be comfortable with in a creek like that. I don't think you'd get much use out of it, to be honest.
So I'm thinking is not a chris craft, but i do peg it for 1940s. Any idea What is it worth, ball park? I have them down to 1750, but shooting for 1350. Seems like it should be worth that. It would look cool in the back yard as an object du art and if i got a little use out of it so much the better.

Not sure, cos. Growing up where I did, who the builder was determines cost on boats like this: "Ray Phipps built this in 1942- $12,000". If it's massed-produced, I have no idea.

Agree that it would look cool as a yard ornament, though. Even though I live in the mountains now, my joint is mainly decorated in Mid-Century Chesapeake.

Survived another night with Fish. Probably because we took it easy, grabbed some Chai and called it an early night. Either that or we ended up getting obliterated and closing the bar (technically, Fish didn't actually close the bar as he got kicked out 15 minutes before they closed).

Find out today whether or not our bid was accepted by the sellers. Can't sleep, been a hectic few days. Fearful Hazel will have another seizure; though unlikely, still keeping me up.
I had to chime in too about your nerves with your poor daughter having a febrile seizure. I am 100000% with you there...that was bar none the scariest moment, 10 minutes, hour, day of my freaking life. Good news is she'll be fine and when its all behind you the doctors are reassuring that its not that big a deal and there is no harm done, but holy crap, its awful in the moment.

In our case my family and I were traveling back home and had a short layover in Salt Lake City that turned into a long layover due to a canceled flight. So we made the best of it and took the train into town to walk around, get something to eat (drink) and kill time. We had been carting my 18 month old daughter in her stroller all afternoon, she had just got done taking a snooze in it, and were waiting for the train to take us back to the airport right at the stop right by the main downtown mall. My wife looks down and says "Uh, does she look weird to you?". The look she had on her face is one that is burnt forever into my brain: she was staring weirdly off out of the corner of her eyes, shoulders slumped at a weird angle, and her lips were freaking blue. I immediately pick her up and start patting her on the back as I think she's choking. She's like a ragdoll in my arms. She's not coming too and my wife now starts screaming (about the worst soul-crunching scream you can imagine) for help. It then hits me: I'm watching my daughter die in front of me from something....choking, aneurysm, undiscovered heart ailment: I'm watching her die. Oh yeah, my 7 year old and 4 year old sons are screaming her name too and breaking down. My wife grabs her, everyone else on the train platform is now just looking at us, I sprint like a freak back into the mall and start yelling for a nurse, doctor, anything. Lady quickly comes out with me and someone else on the train platform had a water and they poured it on my daughter. She comes to, crying, and I hold her and realize for the first time she is burning up. The paramedics show up a minute or two later. 35 minutes later and some ibuprofen she is no worse for wear, but it took me about an hour to calm her brothers down from what they'd experienced. Ugh.

I had heard of a febrile seizure, but she nor any of my older kids had ever had one. She had shown zero signs of even getting anything...she had been running around a play area and slurping ice cream before she started napping. I had never seen one in person. We obviously missed our flight....our bags had flown on without us and I just bought us clothes as we had to spend the night in a hotel. She slept between my wife and I and I never slept one second overnight. Just stared at her. Horrible moment that I need a drink now from just remembering.

Thanks for letting me relate a little, GM. Febrile seizure brothers! :hifive: :sadbanana:

tl;dr: Febrile seizures, like, suck and stuff yo.

That was a little weird.
How did you end up getting kicked out? I'm surprised I didn't. I was pretty much a supreme ######## ####### to the karaoke guy.
It was strange. I went to close my tab and the bartender said she didn't have my card. I told her she did, and she'd been putting drinks on my tab all night. She called for her manager, and he brought security. They took me downstairs, made my wait while they found my card, and when they finally found it and brought my check they kicked me out.

Showing went well. Current tenant was there. New tenants loved the place and it looks like we have an agreement.

Oh yeah, new tenants are in a rock band and are lesbians.
