Just got a text from a friend regarding my GB who has apparently started trying to drink himself to death. He got put on leave from his job and now isn't returning anyone's calls. He does have a live in gf so at least he's not completely alone, but I am stuck as to how to reach out in a successful way.

:(
Good news update: he admitted he got off of anti-anxiety meds, wants to get back on, and has an appointment with his psychologist whom he hasn't seen in a few years.

A few pages back I mentioned my company was profiled by Reuters news service and as the only sales guy who handles leads I was a bit nervous.

Woz? Jesus...
Still waiting at nays, good buddy.
It's Nye's, and you killed it you sonofa#####.
I killed it? I'm the one who showed up.
I think he means

this.
Yeah i know they closed it and what he means. I am just giving him crap b/c several years ago we were going to meet up there (I think with another poster too maybe). There was some miscommunication and I showed up but he had cancelled or something but I didn't get the notice in time. No big deal, but I like to bug him about it whenever I can.
Wait. You showed up? Why would you have showed up to an event that was never planned?

My first day with the new company is Monday. I took Monday off.
Atta boy. Set the expectations low.
I thought to myself, what would George Costanza do?

My first day with the new company is Monday. I took Monday off. I don't work the day after Superbowl.
Related.

Whoa. I just got that same email.
Me too. I guess you guys have given me e-mail herpes.

There are grown adults on my facebook feed right now arguing by saying things like

"our team ALLEGEDLY took some air out of the ball, your team has murderers!"

"what Hernandez doesn't count? how soon you forget!"

"we cut him immediately, we didn't give him contracts and a statue!"

The use of personal pronouns is what really makes it for me, it think.

I never *got* the whole sports fandom taken to the point of internalizing or self-identifying with the team/athlete.

you getting good health benefits with the Patriots, pally?

Are you FB friends with that NE Revival dude? Because this would fit the thread he/she started in the SP in the last day or so.

Good local chain here (Duke's) is having a Superbowl, buy $100 in beverages and get $100 in free food match up to $500. Seems dangerous both as a consumer as well as if you're the restaurant. I'm wondering if they plan to be liberal in cutting people off if they "appear" drunk around about the $85 mark.

Oh and one of the dishes is a half rack of ribs, a couple skewers of Alaskan Weathervane scallops (awesome) and gulf shrimp. I could put a lot of those back.

You guys wouldn't believe it by all the #### I've posted here over the years but I don't talk much about serious stuff. Mrs. SLB has nagged me for years that I keep everything inside and need to reach out to people more. So last week I got a lot of stuff off my chest about selling the company. Today some of this information that nobody else would know made its way back to me.

In the future if I need to get something off my chest I'm calling one of you guys. Probably Tanner.

I think it means he told his wife stuff in confidence, and then it got back to him. So, she can't be trusted. Or something.
