GM's thread about nothing (16 Viewers)

I'm going to be in San Angelo for an overnight work trip. Dinner tonight and meeting tomorrow. Hard to find anything good about this trip.

I had blood work done Saturday. Good news is that my cholesterol is almost normal. Other good news is my AST was normal. Bad news is my ALT at 73 was not. I might be done drinking altogether.

What is ALT? Sorry, dude.
Liver enzyme. This is a moderate elevation, considering the high end of the range is in the 50s. It can get over 1000, but those people are in serious trouble. At any rate, Zooks shouldn't book a flight just yet.

I have a number of business ideas I would love to fund if I could find the right people to operate them: Drug/alcohol rehab, mushroom farming, distillery, etc. What I would like to do is find talented qualified people to bring in as minority partners to run the operation I design and bankroll. How would I go about finding such people? Even if it was to just hire them as employees, I cannot seem to find a way to locate who I'm looking for. You'd think with the internet and everything it would be easier.
Honestly, LinkedIn is where 90% of recruiting happens these days.

About to have a brief, but very awkward conversation regarding a past event here shortly. Maybe some you remember in April and May that I was dealing with something very bad which indirectly happened to me. Today is an attempt at resolution or at least the beginning of it for me and one of the parties involved. I hope this goes well.

Not really sure what this means but good luck.

I should take more than just February off probably. :(

I'm about to go do this thing with a person and/or people and it may or may not be interesting/awkward/special/uncomfortable.

You might want to delete some of the personal details from this before it gets google cached, GB. I'm sure nobody in here would do anything, but the rest of the forum/innerwebs...

I hear you. I just opened up the mini-fridge that I share with two other teachers. One of them left a half-peeled (unwrapped) hard boiled egg just sitting on one of the shelves. The smell almost made me puke. I'm torn between sending an email or just start throwing punches.

Are you serious? I didn't think anyone really used LinkedIn. In any event, I'm headed there now!

Speaking of which:

The NY AD just went and tested a bunch of supplement. Let's just say I won't be buying anything in a bottle anytime soon.

Just saw this.

Had to buy the wife NKOTB tickets last night
You gonna unravle the mystery here or do we have to guess?
What's the mystery? That NKOTB stands for New Kids on the Block or why he had to buy tickets to such an event?
I didn't know what the abbreviation was for. Is it 1988 all over again? Why not type that out...I would have never guessed that, though I'm sure I could have copy/pasted into teh googles.

The USSR hasn't been around for a while but I still recognize the abbreviation.

You've got the right stuff.

Completely serious. Haven't seen a posted job anywhere that was not also on LinkedIn and it is every recruiter's first stop for filling their pipelines.

linkedin, like many other job-listings, doesn't understand the difference between an "architect" and a "systems' architect".

Best thing you can do is find one posting that matches what you do and then use their "people who applied for this also applied for this" recommendations.

Yup, USSR and NKOTB are precisely the same thing.
