GM's thread about nothing (46 Viewers)

Have any of you hippies gone to Sasquatch? I love music festivals; Mr. krista loves them notsomuch. Future Islands are playing this year, though, which might give me a fighting chance of getting him to go.
I've always wanted to go, location looks amazing. A lot of great bands on the lineup this year.
the gorge is a great venue.
Yup. But, do your homework and know what to bring.

I did NOT do that when I saw Phish in 1997. However, I made up for it by taking a ton of LSD, which came in real handy when the show ended and we realized we had no idea where our car was parked. Slept on the ground and piled up a bunch of that lovely volcanic ash soil into a mound for a pillow. Was offered a lick of some dude's wife's arm for my extra ticket. Always been curious what would have happened if I chose that fork in the road of life.
Knowing where your car/rv/tent is is pretty critical. If you don't have a big flag to fly, having one of those "where the f did I park" apps is pretty handy, if you can remember to set a marker when you arrive.

Speaking of veal, I was talking to a buddy recently who lives in the uber trendy hipster/hippie area of Sellwood and he was trying like hell to find veal. Searched high and low at all the upscale markets and struck out. I'm sure it's somewhere to be found, but it's not an easy get here in Portland. I've never cooked it and haven't had it in years, but have to admit, I'm intrigued.
Good veal at an Italian restaurant is SO great. (Veal Milanese, Veal Piccatta bottom right corner) I usually don't order it though because they in order to get that greatness, they have to torture cows. Unless I'm drunk then I'm all like "the cow is already dead, what I'm going to do about it, I'm drunk".

I've been taking Hazel to school this week as my wife has to leave early for work. Today was her big Show & Tell day, so I figured I ought to at least attempt to do her hair. I am not very good at this and probably broke 5 little rubber bands in the process this morning. But I think it held up well. Her school just emailed me a picture of her showing the class her item from home, which is nothing more than the first aid kit that I found in the trunk of my car. That's what she chose to take to school. And judging from this photo, she was VERY excited to show it off.

:lmao:
You should really take some hair classes with two more girls on the way.

NOW YOU'RE TALKIN!!!!

I've got 20 gallons of homebrewed beer (+/- a few bottles "tasted" to "make sure they're not infected") in my house and in various forms of fermentation/carbonating. I've done this in the last month. I'm brewing another 5 gallons Saturday.

I looked at that Sasquatch lineup. For every band that I like, or kinda like, or am curious about, there are two whom I'd like to see crammed into a rocket and fired directly into the sun. I'll bet you'd get to see a lot of hippie boobs, though.

hmmm... just checked it out- looks like the FFA best 50 albums of 2014 are solidly represented. I see a lot more that I like than dislike.

to be honest, I don't know Manatee Commune, but just looking at the name combined with the picture makes me want to burn it all down.

How pissed is your wife that every other parent that saw that picture now is glad to know that they're not the worst parents in the class?

I choo-choo-choose you.
Gianmarco's thread, where people proclaim to have never watched a Simpsons episode, has me stabby.
I haven't watched one in this decade

That's fair. I can probably count on one hand the number I've watched over the last 5 years. They've run out of material. Happens to the best of them. But there was a good long stretch where that was classic television.

Oh, I think GM is a great dad, but if that picture and caption came to me, anytime my wife gave me a hard time about my parenting, I'd be like "yeah, but at least our kid doesn't go to school looking like she just escaped from the Three Bears House with their travel medical kit."

Right - also I guess one's definition of 'decade' may vary

Last time (since I asked first in the middle of the night last week): if anyone would like my Facebook page I would appreciate it. The articles are actually a little funny and interesting.

What are you using for rolls and cheese? These are critical decisions.

You want a nice roll. A crusty roll from a bakery, a mini baguetts or at the very least something from teh Safeway baker. Don't buy a mass produced, soft roll.

Second, I prefer provolone. I drape the slices over the top of the meatballs and the bread so as to completely seal the meatballs and sauce inside. Stick them under the broiler the bubble and brown the cheese. If the cheese is not over the bread (ie tucked into it), you'll burn the top of the bread under the broiler.
Yet another reason why I want to be Drifter when I grow up

Read this like 8x and I'm still Shuked. Can you explain the cheese over the bread thing

Just please don't tell SLB. I think he likes that show and might never drink with me again if he knew.

 open face. Both sides with cheese on it under the broiler - then putting the top with the melted cheese on top of the meatballs that also now have melted cheese on them.

Absolutely abused by a judicial officer acting really oddly today for some reason; opposing counsel got the same treatment. Good times. Oh, maybe I should take this to the LAWYER THREAD.
