I simply must have my dirty blond Kiper in all its glory for Vegashole. Imagine krista's disappointment if I did not. There will be a substantial haircut soon, possibly this weekend. I'll sweep up the clippings for you gratis.

Not particularly. We're pretty much only domestic. It may affect some of our customers and then filter down to us minimally but we've never really felt any impact from these disputes. Seems like they have one every year or two.

Need to vent for a minute...So, some of you may remember that I moved my family back to my home state from Missouri. We have gotten settled in and things have been going well. The other day my youngest son, 8 years old, is waking up for school. My wife was having a colonoscopy so i was the one in charge of the whole morning. Anyway, my 8 year old wakes up and breaks into tears when I tell him that it is Wednesday and it is a schol day. After a little bit of tallking i finally get out of him why he is so upset. Evidently a 4th grade on the bus had told him the other day that he was going to kill him, that he hated my son, just shut up and then he tried to hit him.

Ugh - I drove my 2 sons into school. Weighed in my mind what to do. I wanted to go all MOP here but decided to take a more rational stance. I dropped a note to my sons teacher and let her know what had occured and wanted to know if she could help out. Maybe make sure that he sat with my older son on the bus and that the bus driver was aware of the situation just to keep them apart if they could. HIs teacher sent us a note back that she had forwarded my note to the Assistant Pricinpal. Got a call form the Assistant Principal and things are being handled.

My vent is that i really hate kids sometimes. I don't get why a kids would ever say to another that they were going to kill them. It just makes no sense to me. I have no idea what is going to happen to the kid. School said they could not give us the outcome of the discussion they were going to have with the kid. Worst part is that neither of my boys knew the kids name. So, my youngest had to go onthe bus with the asst. principal to identify the kid. All I can hope is that it doesn't make him some kind of target on the bus.

That is a tough one. Its crazy how cruel kids can be - demonic at times. You want to tell him to take the biggest jab possible with the base of his hand and shove that bully's nose into the back of his evil brain pan. But you also know that isn't probably right either ...but you still want to

I have a candy jar with what has to be 25 pounds of assorted change. Actually actually true.

Speaking of food... Anyone have a good recipe for crab cakes? Gonna do filets and crab cakes for the gf on Valentine's Day

I'm a day behind. If no one else answers by the time i catch up, i will.

Buy two tubs of claw crab meat, one of lump and one of jumbo lump.

Dump the claw tubs into a bowl and pick out all the pieces of shell. Then do it again because you missed some.

Fine dice a couple of bell peppers (use different colors) and an onion and a head of garlic. Saute until soft, then set aside to cool. I usually add some fresh roasted corn as well, I like the sweetness it adds, but that's optional.

When cooled, add to the bowl of claw crab meat and mix with a couple of beaten eggs, some mayonaise, dijon mustard, salt and bread crumbs (or cooked rice if you want to avoid wheat.) A lot of people add seasonings here, but because crab has such delicate flavor, I prefer to only use salt. Old Bay is tempting, but can really overpower and crab tastes far better than Old Bay.

Clean the lump crab meat and gently fold into the mix.

Clean the jumbo lump very carefully, keeping the big pieces as intact as possible and very gently fold them into the mix keeping them as big and unbroken as possible.

Make into patties/cakes (not paddiecakes)

Fry in clarified butter. Sometimes, I'll dredge them in some panko first for extra crispiness, but not required.

Make lots. They freeze really well and will last a couple months at 0 degrees

Notes- Claw meat has more flavor, but the jumbo lump is what people see as the flavor. It also costs 3x as much.

The final product should be at least 70-80% crab

A really good simple sauce- One cup mayo, 2 T Cajun Chef or other bottled hot sauce, juice of one lime.
