Got hacked. Weird stuff happening. (1 Viewer)

I got a few emails from Walmart that some random items were ordered and were going to be shipped.  I had two different credit cards in my account history and both were used.  I contacted Walmart, had the items canceled and my account deleted.  My credit cards are on hold and I will cancel them in the morning.

Why would someone order these and have them shipped to my address?

And now it seems someone is using my email address associated with that account and signing me up on hundreds and I mean hundreds of random website message boards, with random usernames and passwords.  What is their reason for this other than being the super cool hackers they are?

This seems to be a fairly sophisticated algorithm.  Signing me up on hundreds of sites within minutes.

Some of these sites are pretty funny.  But I'm not posting the names here.  This guy probably has some web crawler thing looking for info on me.

Dude, I got hacked here in 2012. Weird stuff was going on with me, too. Do not lose your marbles. Take all the normal advice people give you and move on. This is no laughing matter, and I've been there. Seriously. Keep calm and keep your head. The authorities will be of little to no help. Cancel your stuff. Someone has targeted you for some weird reason, and they want to mess with you.

Seems to have stopped.  My only guess is that he wanted to flood my inbox with emails so I wouldn't notice the order emails from Walmart.  But why would he order like 15 of the same thing and have it shipped to me?

You seem to think I'm taking this more seriously than I actually am.  Lose my marbles?  Move on?  The authorities?  What are you talking about, bro?

Oh, okay. You're being cool about it. That's all that needs to be said. I had people opening up Microsoft Word and posting weirdly personal messages and they had gotten administrative rights to my computer. It freaked me out back then. Cool. Just making sure you're all good.

Maybe they call and re-route them in-transit? Or track them and steal them off your porch?

Just wait until the magazines start showing up.

(Is the Columbia Record Club still in business?  I need to know.)

THE ORDER IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE!!!!!1!~

Had that happen to a few accounts at work last year.  No credit card charges for anyone, but literally signed up for hundreds of newsletters.

New thing we are seeing now are fake accounts made to look like they are coming from school administrators with things like “are you available?” in the body. If someone responds, they follow up by saying they are offsite at a meeting and need you buy an iTunes card and send them the PIN number. Not very sophisticated, but they did get some of our users to bite on the first part of the scam.

I get the buying stuff on your card. The shipping it to you is weird but maybe they screwed up.

The signing you up at message boards is just mean.

They are just using my email address.  Like if I had yours I could sign you up for 400 different message boards.  I don't need your password for that.
Right, but the compromised WalMart account, plus the email accounts, would be enough to make me change it for safety. if they do have it,  they could bury some “forgot password” requests for a while slew of sites in there along with the bogus orders.

OK I'll change it.

Did you follow the white rabbit?

I did that to the guy once. I had a gf and she dumped me for this guy she worked with. I got his work email address and signed him up for every porn site I could find. Dozens and dozens of them. Did the same with personals on Craigslist. It was therapeutic.

It's something like they complete the orders and then do reviews using those order numbers so anyone looking at the positive review will see it tied back to an actual transaction, and their company moves up the rankings with a bunch of good reviews.  You could have kept all those car parts, bro.

sorry shuke ...I get a bit paranoid about that kind of stuff, if they can get into that, they can get into my stock accounts.

nuke these bastards.
