Gov. Andrew Cuomo (2 Viewers)

Nowhere have I said she should necessarily still be a Congresswoman. Just that she could have dug in and leaned on the lack of anything binding like others would have. But she didn't.

I think this horse has been beaten enough for a Cuomo thread.

The reason she resigned is that people were digging even deeper in to her inappropriate relationships, and congress was going to have to start an investigation in to her.  She didn't resign due to revenge porn or any other such thing.  She resigned to stop the bleeding.  She sure had a lot of skeletons in her closet for someone who had only been in office such a short time.

Katie Hill violated US House personnel ethics rules. She should've resigned. And this nonsense that Republicans don't every resign is not true. I can think of a few of the top of my head.

Blake Farenthold. Tim Murphy. Trent Franks. Patrick Meehan. I'm sure there's more. Democrats hold no moral high ground on resignations.
Well, Farenthold also used public funds to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit.  So more than just an accusation there.  And been a lobbyist since then...of course.

Murphy was due to an extramarital affair and apparently pressuring the woman to have an abortion (after he had been quite strongly anti-abortion in his political life).  Details of harassment and other things came out only after his resignation.

Franks yeah, similar to these stories, only posting details because it is sort of odd what he also did...pressuring 2 of his aides to be surrogates for he and his wife.

Meehan first just said he would not run for re-election, but then did finally resign the spring before that...he again used public funds to pay off sexual harassment suits.  So harassment alone does not seem to be what caused his resignation.

Before people start claiming I am making excuses...yes, there are a few republicans who have been forced out.  A few of those are different than just a few accusations though when you are talking about the use of public funds to pay people off being what had them resign.  The main point has always been about more high profile things...that usually high profile people aren't forced out.  Moral high ground...nope, I agree there, no party has it.  But certainly the lecturing coming from the right currently on Cuomo is hypocritical at best if those same people supported and defended others (like Trump).

Governor Cuomo just issued a tepid, highly unsatisfactory apology. He needs to resign.

I would like to point out something here: it’s my understanding that all of the reporting regarding the sexual harassment charges have come from the New York Times, just as the Hillary email story came directly from the New York Times.

I fully realize that the majority of conservatives will simply ignore this fact and continue to believe the false notion that the mainstream media lies on behalf of liberals, but it would be nice if just a few took notice of this and perhaps reconsidered their convictions on this matter.
This is quite astounding.  To think that reporting on a story that goes against the liberal agenda automatically makes you NOT liberal is comical.

That's like saying if Fox news does a story that paints a republican in a poor light or exposes possible illegal activity that they are now not conservative.

He looks pretty cooked to me, and you can see by local coverage here that he has plenty of enemies on both sides of the aisle.

Where does Kamala stand on this?

Has she spoken about this at all?

She didn’t have any trouble calling out Kavanaugh

Do a poll. Plenty of Democrats on this board and beyond have been calling for his resignation since before this latest accusation. Once again, you are just playing make believe like a 6 year old only child. Dems have a history of stepping aside for much less than this. See Franken and Katie Hill, for starters. You know who would not think of it for a second? Any member of the GOP. They'd triple down, circle the wagons, and go into full smear against these women.
I disagree and I've seen few calling for Cuomo's head.

Democrats were quiet on Tara Reade, and they're quiet on Lee and Bennett and they'll stay quiet

You know it, I know it, everyone can see it

the last few pages of this thread read like:

"Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? I tell you, I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frowned upon, you know, ‘cause I've worked in a lot of offices and I tell you people do that all the time."

So she’s not allowed to have an opinion now?

Or there’s nothing in it politically for her now?
Do you think there is a difference between as a Senator on the Judicial committee commenting on allegations about a Justice nominee...to the VP commenting on a Governor (which is a state issue that she has no bearing over)?

I'm not really sure the gubernatorial line of succession, but if Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul takes over....it's just another career politician "elite" running the show.  Rinse repeat.  She'd be the first governor in nearly 100 years to not be from the downstate area, though.

Not my point. You wrote that she was quick to comment about Kavanaugh. That was her job to do so. This isn’t.
Actually I want to expand on this. Since Governor Cuomo may have committed criminal behavior, it would be inappropriate for the Vice President to comment at this point.

What about the actual President?  or the Speaker of the House?  Is it appropriate for them to comment?

Just when tim finally stumbles into the correct position on Cuomo, he latches onto another wildly incorrect position on Harris.

It is totally okay for the VP to call on a governor to resign in response to resignation-worthy behavior.  I don't think Harris has any particular obligation to do so, but it certainly wouldn't be out of line.

IMO it is. Not that they listen to me but I’ve always thought so.
But they have.  And Kamala has never been someone to do what's "appropriate" as opposed to what is politically expedient for her.  Let's not pretend she suddenly found ethics.

I don’t agree. It’s Ok for you or me to say he should resign. It’s not OK for her to do it.

I don’t agree with you about her ethics. She’s done a few things in the past I don’t agree with but overall I don’t regard her as unethical.

Give him a few days he will usually follow along after initially taking a ridiculous position

Odd...on one hand we have people complaining about Harris not saying anything.

On the other, we have Devin Nunes claiming Harris is behind a secret plot to eliminate Cuomo so she can run unopposed in 2024.

YouTube Link to Fox Interview...and the host agrees with him.

Yeah, its a youtube link as the stories discussing this are on some sites I don't trust well...but here you have his own words.
why now though....wouldnt you wait until closer to 24? Politics seems to have short memories and IMO its just too far away from the elections to pul la stunt like that, esp within your own party

And when and if information comes out about Harris that causes me to reconsider and change my mind, I will.
Let's test this.  Is it unethical to try to keep an innocent man behind bars?  And him being innocent isn't an opinion.  She knew it and tried to keep him in prison, not for being guilty, but for being too late in presenting proof that he was innocent.  And this after he had already served more than 10 years in prison:

Are you claiming that Harris kept these men in jail for political reasons?

Cuomo: Eat the whole sausage

A video showing Gov. Andrew Cuomo challenging a female journalist to “eat the whole sausage” in front of him at the 2016 New York State Fair has resurfaced on social media — amid allegations the governor sexually harassed former staffers.

No lets not. Please accept my assurance that I am very much aware of Kamala Harris' history as a prosecutor, district attorney, and senator, and that awareness includes accusations that have been made against her. And that I stand by what I wrote: I believe that overall she is a woman of integrity and generally high ethics. You'll just have to take my word that I mean what I've written.

So you don't think trying to keep someone in prison who you know is innocent is unethical?  Okay, now I know where you're coming from.

I could never be a politician. I couldn't imagine every word I said , 24/7 being scrutinized and put under a microscope for everyone to interpret though their own cloudy lens.

Any we wonder why the best people for the job wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot pole

I feel like Shuke can hit me with some #MeToo stuff dating back to our EAT-OFF challenges.
