Can I hire my wife for this entry? She's not a football guy, but she rocks at computer graphics. Great way to make a living. :yes: Or would that be considered using a ringer?

Joe, David, other FBG staff,If you'd like, feel free to "beat me up" and criticize these pics "to no end". I imagine this critiscism might be beneficial to everyone involved. If you're too busy, I understand. If not, lemme have it. I'll take one for the team.

 
I'm wondering if we are supposed to design fron and back. I'm sorta hoping we can get a little copy if we are designing the back. I'm not exactly sure what you want the back to say, but I can just put junk in there, or make something up if needed. Hoping to send my two ideas tonight.

Not too bad, my only comment from a design perspective is that your covers are too busy, with too much stuff crammed into it. You're not selling a magazine off a packed shelf, the book will only be availible on-line here for now. If you cleaned things up a little bit and made things a little more simple, I think you would have a solid contender. :thumbup:
 
Any SHARKS that are Sopranos fans will like this one !!! LOL

Keep in mind these are all at reduced resolution. The colors are way off and will look much better on the finnished product.

Mad Viking - I agree with PAO - they look great but you could tone it down a bit imo. This will be printed in full color as well - so may want to think about introducing other colors.

As long as you guys are sharing ideas,

here's what I submitted.

I was going for a "Enter The Matrix" feel, but I'm not a graphic artist.

Thoughts?

 
footballman:Like the first, esp those silly little football sorta guys with arms. 2nd has some logos like Wilson and center bottom logo that I'm not sure we're supposed to use.viking:wow you're real good at this. Last one, I'm guessing is the one folks are saying is too busy. The first looks sharp, has a sorta sheen look that looks like a mag or book cover to me. Seconds my fave. Impressive workcactus:I've always liked field like backgrounds. Dunno why just one of those things I guess. Not sure if that qualifies as "too busy" too, regardless I like it. Well you 3, I'm guessing mine are too simple and some of yours are supposedly too busy so....we've gotta land something in between. Agree? hmmm

sucker for fields, really like that one. Actually would like one if you could send me one. I dunno about the top right "football stats" then in the main block you say it again like an inch under. Maybe Footballguys across the top?I dunno, I'd work with that field somehow, that stood out to me as something to build on. Just keep plugging away footballman. Most graphic designers make a zillion pics til they wind up with one they like. This is good about this one, this is good about that one. Remember what's good and go from there.Viking's my fave, you're my darkhorse thus far. Of course we'll see what Joe and David think but....keep plugging away

ooh ooh ooh like that one. Make that helmet crisper, sharper...little fuzzy. This is a good one! Touch it up a bit, got my attention right away!To all, just offerring my opinion trying to help. Of course my opinion is not valued in this contest one bit, it's Joe's David's and whomever else's. Seems like for every comment from other folks there's one for me. I figure if I don't comment on one I'm leaving someone out, if I comment on everyone it might be misconstrued as me being pretentious or some such. I'm just trying to help, constructive criticism. Hope you guys understand and this is taken the right way. If not, please forgive me.

All, I just wanted to point out that some of you have photos that came off the internet I think.I'm pretty sure that's illegal, and you wouldn't want to get Joe and David into trouble. If you took the pictures yourself, I know that is completely legal, but unless you buy the rights to pictures (via stock companies or the owner), I'm pretty sure you can't use them without consent with something that is being sold (this book will be for sale I'm pretty sure). I took a few copyright classes in art school, and that was the way it was. I sorta doubt it has changed.Just thinking out loud here.

That is a good thing to point out that you cannot just go ripping of Copyrighted images and graphics. However, if you were referring to the photos used in my two cover designs (see below)...well, those are stock photgraphy images that I own the unlimited usage rights to use. Totally legal and above board here.

Indeed if you have purchased stock photography, then you are legal to use it as far as I know But I wasn't sure that's what everyone was doing.Nobody in particular, but wanted to get that out in the open in case anyone was doing so.I'm sure the last thing FBG needs is a lawsuit or something stupid, even if it's unlikely they would catch us.

Posting a link is fine too. Great efforts everybody. As for the back cover, we are just going to make it a solid color this year.

I am going to spend today with my mom. Joe and I will narrow the field vie email back and forth tonight and post the results Monday morning. Big thanks to everyone who competed. We easily have 10-15 outstanding entries that deserve to win. Unfortunately, we have just one book.

:thumbup: I'm going to go out on a limb and predict the top three in no particular order !!This one is a professional job !!Without a doubt the one I think will win.My favorite of the covers I did.I hate to lose but of the covers that were posted I think there a at least five that could sent me to a flaming defeat.It all depends on what the footballguys were looking for !!Again GOOD LUCK to everyone.This was really fun and it killed a week of the Fantasy Football offseason !!! :thumbup:

Quite a few of these look pretty good. Of course we haven't seen all of those that were emailed either. Guess it'll depend on what style Joe and David are looking for on a stat book.

 
The winners gonna have some pretty awesome bragging rights to the guys in their league if any of em show up to their draft with the book!!!Any idea on what it'll cost yet???
