***Green Bay at Baltimore*** (+9) O/U 45 Lamar Jackson-OUT! (1 Viewer)

Realistically, if you tie the game there what are the chances the Packers can't get a FG out of 42 seconds though? That's a lot of time for Rodgers to operate.

Ding ding. Number one reason you can't go for two. If you get you just force GB to be aggressive with plenty of clock left. You don't get you lose. Only  guarantee that could come from that outcome is a loss.

The second reason was who you got at backup QB. Sure he played a solid game, but no part of the game was he in such a big moment like that.

Horrendous decision and the announces were absolutely awful not to mention this stuff.

i personally like the call.    there's a decent chance you don't even make it to OT giving Rodgers 45 secs and a TO to get just a fg.  Then to think you're gonna beat them in OT if you happen to get there.  Don't like those odds.

I guess that between converting the 2 and the chance for the onside kick, harbaugh figures he has a greater than 50% to win the game.

people act like tying it up there somehow means that they will win.

id like you see all of the numbers that go into that decision, though.

In a vacuum, I don't hate the call to go for two. But you just dominated the last eight minutes of the game. Add to that that the play you called was a roll out that takes away half of the field and lets the defense cover the only two guys you threw to all game, and the whole thing was suspect.

Not to mention they should have gone for two when they were down eight.

I also don’t mind going for two but don’t understand the play call.  Seems like the best bet would be some kind of an option or roll out where you keep Huntley’s  legs in it.

oh well, he is helping lift me to a likely playoff win today, just as I planned for at the beginning you the year

not sure if they even have calculations where you're missing that many starters

If my team just dominated the last part of regulation and have the best kicker in the NFL, I’m not going for 2 with my backup QB on a called roll out throwing to the receiver that everyone east of the Mississippi knows it’s going to.

No, man. Not until he does that for a year or so. But that was Jackson-esque. Hopefully we see more guys that play the game this way get looked at by professional organizations.

Confused by this...that is exactly what they are looking for of late...old school pocket-passers like Mac Jones are the ones teams are tepid about.

They're not willing to construct an offense around them like Baltimore is. Lawrence, Wilson, and Jones all went in the first. So did Lance and Fields, but GMs are still looking for arms and arm strength more than athletes. I get what you're saying, and teams are more open, but the pendulum hasn't swung to where they're really seeking these guys out. It's more that immobility is a negative for guys like Jones rather than constructing an offense around these guys' talents. At least best I can suss out.

I didn't mind them going for 2, but hated the play call. I hate that roll out play where you immediately cut off half of the field from yourself and then throw it to the one guy you knew they'd be all over.

I think they absolutely are seeking them out...but they need to trust their arm as well...they want both arms and legs because while Lamar is the real deal it is a pass-first league and a QB that runs too much is always gonna be a threat to get injured.

Situations like this are why I hated the changes to the PAT a couple years ago. I would love to see a team line up like they're going to kick and tie the game and then run a fake to take the lead. The long PAT has taken away that element of surprise from this play.

If the two-pointer works, Rodgers still has 42 seconds and a timeout knowing they need a Field Goal.  That is why I would have kicked the Extra Point.

This guy went undrafted and couldn't even make the combine. That's evidence that what you're saying isn't true, at least in his case, a case I suspect reflects a lot of quarterbacks like him. Some tweets pointing this out:

Chris B. Brown

@smartfootball

·1h.   Huntley was a multi-year starter, led Utah to an 11-3 record in his senior season, threw for 3,000+, 73% completion percentage and 10.3 yards per attempt, sixth in passer rating. Weird he didn’t get a combine invite/went undrafted

Justis Mosqueda

@JuMosq

· 4h

The fact that he wasn't invited to the combine his draft year is still insane. He was All-Pac 12 over Justin Herbert his last year at Utah. Hardly someone who "slipped through the cracks." West coast scouts saw him, said they didn't see it and were wrong. twitter.com/FBallGameplan/…

Just terrible. You also eliminate his legs because there’s no way he’s turning the corner with everyone full sprint towards the sideline

I just saw a replay of the 2pt conversion attempt. Hollywood Brown was wide open coming from the slot on the left hand side.

I realize Andrews was the 1st (and probably 2nd read) but had Huntley had an option to look some place else Brown was wide open

That's one reason I didn't like the roll out.

Should have kicked the PAT anyway. Oh well.

Going for the lead was absolutely the right move.

If they play to tie, GB has a ton of time and a TO to move ~40 yards to win the game.  If they play to win, GB has a ton of time and a TO to move ~40 yards to win the game.  In one scenario Baltimore wins with a missed FG, in the other scenario they still have to outscore Green Bay to win.

Go for the lead and let the rest of the chips fall where they may, playing to tie is essentially playing to lose against that team.
