Greenbay RB position (1 Viewer)

I also thought Ripkowski looked good with his limited carries last week.  If they ever have a week where they have a big 2nd half lead you'd think they wouldn't want to hand it to montgomery over and over. Going to have 1st and goal from inside the five at some point too, seems like Ripkowsi the best chance to get the ball should they run it there. He was running with power and protecting the ball, finishing runs. Starks has looked awful this year, Jackson has showed nothing. He's not going to put up massive numbers but if you have deep league bye issues there are worse dart throws than Ripkowski. Could see 30-40 and a td, maybe more yards if the game script allows.

Yes. This is what I'm getting at. Sure, starks might see the lion's share of the carries with 12-14 carries but he may only get 20 yards on those. Ripkowski is the most likely to find the end zone based off of how he has been running and I think 30 yards or so is a fair expectation with Starks out there. If Starks loses favor you could see them leaning more on Ripkowski

For sure Starks out this week, no?  Seems like they're just getting him ready for next week.

Won't know until Saturday I'm guessing. No word yet. I will try to jump on here Friday night/Saturday morning with any info I can dig up.

He returned to practice today in a limited role. The guy has spent the last ~1 month recovering from surgery I'd be surprised if he suited up, but at this point GB needs bodies. He could play with the idea that he's an emergency back...

Ty Montgomery (illness) practiced again on Thursday.

Beat writer Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal said Montgomery practiced "extensively," so perhaps he'll be listed as a full participant. All signs point to Montgomery returning Sunday against the Colts. Look for him to be the Packers' lead ball carrier. Nov 3 - 1:46 PM

listed as limited. Man that 4pm start screws me again in a league, Got not option if he don't play. so I have to start a 1pm player

Yahoo still obstinately won't make Monty an RB. Anyone think there's a shot they make the change before game time if GB lists him as an RB?

So, I stopped looking for anything on Jackson, given Ripkowski tripled his snap count and Jackson only saw 4 carries.  Obviously they liked Jackson more than Knile since they cut him...

Happened to search for any Jackson news on Twitter, and found the following from McCarthy's presser on Wednesday:

Green Bay PackersVerified account @packers Nov 2

McCarthy on RB Don Jackson: He'll get more opportunities this week. He's on a good path. I like the way Don goes about it.
I'm not saying Ripkowski doesn't play a larger role... I actually agree with @Dr. Brew on Ripkowski... but maybe we shouldn't completely punt on Jackson yet either.

From Rotoworld:

Ty Montgomery (illness) is not listed on the Packers' final injury report for Week 9.
Montgomery was a surprise inactive last week due to a kidney-related illness but is all systems go for Sunday's home game against the Colts. He's expected to be the Packers' primary ball carrier and should see plenty of targets as well. Montgomery is in play as a WR2/RB2 this week.

Also:

James Starks (knee) has been ruled OUT for Week 9.
Starks is believed to be targeting a Week 10 return. Nov 4 - 4:30 PM

Speaking about Ty Montgomery Thursday, Packers RBs coach Ben Sirmans said "he pretty much spends most of his time with me in my meeting room."
It's just the latest sign Montgomery is doing more than dabbling at running back. He's switching positions, filling an enormous need and taking the lead in the Packers' undermanned backfield. Tentatively expected back from his illness this week, Montgomery has both RB2 and WR2 appeal.
