Greg Jones Done for the Year (1 Viewer)

"Hello, Cowher? Del Rio here. What about that Duce?" :) Jags will be signing another back shortly. Stay tuned.
Wishful thinking from a former Greg Jones owner, perhaps?
Always optimistic. However, if the Jags decide to go the season with what they have, I think Fred will injured by mid-season. Jones would have spelled him quite a bit. Toefield? c'mon. get serious. 3rd down back. Drew is not ready for prime time. Which means they will run Fred into the ground. Can he take 25-30 carries a game? I doubt that.Staley is a guess, but whoever they acquire, they need someone to spell Fred 10-15 carries a game or risk losing him early in the season.

While I'm waiting for Sportsline to come back up let me ask you guys this:

Would you rather have Drew or Samkon Gado as your RB#6?

Is Drew really the guy? 22 carries and 3.3 ypc so far in pre-season. Looks like Quentin Griffin to me. Too small. Griffin only had a couple games over 100 yards. One in '03 and another in '04. The other backs took up the rest as I predict will happen here. Toefield will be in the mix a lot.
not too small, just short.
Agreed. Drew might have the most massive legs I've ever seen on a RB. I thought he ran real hard this past weekend with a lot more power than he gets credit for. I have little doubt that he could be an every down back in this league.

had a guy in one of my dynasty leagues trade Roy Williams for G. Jones, K. Robinson and Wilford about a week ago :bag:

Yes, and Duce Staley is the guy for the job? He isn't exactly the youngest/healthiest/best guy available. Heck, if I were Jax, I'd go with what I've got. Why waste picks/prospects on brokendown Duce Staley???

As a owner of both Greg Jones and Fred Taylor in one league this makes things easier on me. G. Jones is a beast but can't escape the knee injuries. Taylor just has been bumped up to a late RB 2 position for my other draft this weekend. He has a lot to prove this year and they will use him as the primary back. Prior to this injury I thought one of the backs were going to another team or I guess cut I gess not now though. He is pretty much guarenteed to get me 80 rushing yards a game the TD and goaling opps should go up

Maybe. Or maybe someone else like Dayne, for instance.

Duce Staley sucks.

I picked up Drew, before another owner got news of the injury to Jones and got him first.

Here's hoping he's the #2 at some point. I also offered the Taylor owner C. Brown (he has Henry)

My bad. Knee jerk on dumping him. Fortunately, I put him back on the dynasty roster. Fred will be what, 46 next year? :D Since he was injured in the pre-season, I think he'll be full strength by next year's camp.
Jones in a PPR league doesn't have that much value anyway (never was sold on Jones, what's his YPC?). Even if Jones is the starter in 2007 (not likely), Pearman might just have as much value or more than Jones because of his receptions in a PPR league like ours.

3.8 for 2005. Respectable for a backup. He also had 10 catches. (Fred was 4.1 w/13 catches).2007? Jones was very close to edging him out this season, add in another year of Fred wear & tear, I think he'll have a pretty good shot at it. Better than Pearman.

Speaking of Travis Henry, maybe he might be a good fit with the Jags. I can't recall for sure, but I thought there were rumors last year about the Jags being interested in him. Another possibility is Artose Pinner, who won't make the Lions. I would think the Jag will want a short yardage type back.

Running back Greg Jones of the Jaguars will be sidelined for the season with a torn ACL for the second time in the last five years.

He suffered the injury Saturday night against Tampa Bay, and the Jaguars first reported it was a sprained MCL and he might be back for the season opener. But an MRI revealed it was actually a torn ACL on his left knee that will require surgery.

He suffered a similar injury on his right knee in his junior year at Florida State on his right knee so when he returns next year he'll be playing with two reconstructed knees.

Jones was just starting to regain the form he had last year before he suffered the injury. His first two years with the Jaguars, he had been a fullback and short yardage runner, but he seemed on the way to becoming a breakaway threat again this year.

With Jones out, Derrick Wimbush will likely become the fullback with Fred Taylor remaining their lead runner. Jones had been expected to share time with Taylor this year.

The Jaguars also released receivers Troy Edwards and Felton Huggins and kicker Seth Marler. Edwards re-signed with the Jaguars in May from Detroit and Marler was re-signed by the team in training camp after starting kicker Josh Scobee went down with an injury.

So it's official now... What does everyone expect out of F. Taylor now? Reports are he is in GREAT shape this year. Could he put up 1200-1400 with 6-9 TD's and be a really nice RB #2 for your fantasy team?

I'd say more like 4-5 TDs. I still think he doesn't score all that much.

I agree. taylor has never shown an ability to get into the endzone like other RB1s. Think 4-5 is about what to expect. I'd bump Marcedes and Jones's tds by about two each, with one more for Wilford.

I hate drafting early.
Yes, to avoid these types of situations, I believe all drafts should be held the night before the season starts. If you play in multiple leagues, you may have to cut back on some. Better yet, why don't we have all drafts after the 1st game of the season, so that situations like Javon Walker don't happen to us. :sarcasm:

Drew is very fast, and has powerful legs for a 200 pounder, but there is way in hell the guy ever becomes a back who receives 20-25 carries a game. He has one cut ability, which is great for college backs with his speed, but not enough for him to avoid the punishing hits that will be laid upon him by men twice his size. Toefield is the guy.
