Gruden nailed it. (1 Viewer)

The entire crew was very lame. Steve Young and Tom Jackson were shouting over each other. Berman had his throat slash gesture on air. His neck was purple, he was pissed. Looked like a doochebg.

Only guy worth watching was Gruden. Not nearly enough Mortensen of Shefter. I liked the Erin Andrews/McCoy bimbo reporters that added some interest.

Hope tommorow's show is better.

I think he was calling Kiper a dumb ssa, was it just me or did it look like Gruden was about to give Kiper a beat down.

wow...i didn;t even flip to espn cause I cant stand berman in this format anymore and I used to like the guy.....I was cool with NFL network all night

Didn't tune in to ESPN at all tonight, but I might just check in tomorrow for a wee bit. If it's that big of a train wreck it might be fun to see.

The best Gruden moment was when Kiper started criticizing Tebow - immediately after Gruden raved about him - and Gruden started shuffling through papers on the desk as if to say "whatever Mel, are you still talking? Blah blah blah"

i like steve young a lot but *hate* what gruden does. young might be #####y but gruden hasn't met a player that he doesn't think is amazing, talented and/or dynamic.

When Tebow got picked, ESPN uesd most of the minutes leading up to, and after the pick on expanded coverage with Jeremy Schapp.

They were seconds away from Arizona's pick, and it was an afterthought. I'd be pissed if I was a Cardinals fan.

I kept hearing out of Berman's mouth...."such and such team is going to pick, or we think..." and the pick was already traded and he didn't know. He kept using his "rumblin, stumblin" persona. It is old and dried up. He needs to put to pasture....Like Madden, his time has passed. Kind of when you have to nudge a senior citizen to give up their drivers license.

Both Kiper an Mcdooche are outta touch, and don't try to guage the teams needs. They are supposed to be insightful, but they are clueless....wrapped up in thier own egos, if they think that player is great, they don't adjust their draft board.

It raises serious credibility issues when Kipers top 7 player (Clausen) is still on the board in the 2nd round. His schtick is also getting tiring.

Mayock owns them bi@C#es

It was after the Tebow pick. I believe at the 29-30
I was getting pretty hammered but I think you are right. Looking at Orton, Quinn and the extra picks they had just acquired, then DEN steps up for Tebow who provides good insurance as a #3QB as a 1st round pick. Yep, I think you got it.

There was definitely a lot of weird tension between the ESPN guys. I think Steve Young's an idiot so the way I saw the tension was frustration all directed at Steve Young pulling dumb comments out of his ### while pick after pick trying to talk over everyone else. It was annoying to watch.

I

Suzy Kolber looked REALLY good.
Yes
Are you freaking kidding me? She looks like one of those troll dolls on acid.
:goodposting: That blondie was ok though. The one who wasn't Erin Andrews, who looks to have gone somewhat downhill.
If its jenn brown, she is smoking, not sure what channel she was doing, but she had guest spots on inside the nfl, I think she is a spinner

You won't know if Kiper is right or wrong about Clausen for a few years. If he develops into a Drew Brees, then I'd say he was right and the NFL GMs/scouts are wrong.

young is the worst draft announcer on the 2 networks showing the draft . nfl network is way better . espn would be great if it was all gruden and kipper .

That was what made it so entertaining for me. It was obvious, just like it used to be on the ESPN Sunday pre-game show, that Steve Young is not well liked. Gruden was laughing at him with Kiper and Tom Jackson continued to pout. How could you not love that train wreck?

Steve Young on Kevn Kolb.. "he's either going to do it or he's not going to do it." You don't say Steve? Thanks for that wonderful insight. The whole channel should be shutdown. With NFL and MLB networks, the entire channel is useless. Basketball is a waste of time and they don't cover hockey, so just shut it down and free up another channel on my guide.

Same here love seeing Faulk, Irvin and Deion....plus the normal crew at NFLN. I do miss Schefter though...he is damm good. But NFLN is my place for all my NFL viewing for pregame, postgame and draft coverage. I only watch Monday Night Countdown these days for my ESPN football fix.Come on man!!!!

The ESPN coverage was a train wreck last night. The only reason I watched it was because it was being televised over here and I didn't have to stream over the internet. It's NFL Network the rest of the way for me, no doubt! It was fun watching Kiper get flustered as Clausen kept falling. :lmao:

I have almost the exact opposite opinion. I hated the NFLN coverage and couldn't stand any of them. As for ESPN, I only need Chuckie, Mel and Mort. The rest can just go away in a corner somewhere and try to talk over each other the entire time.

There were some weird goings on last night, but in some of their defenses:

1. I believe when Berman was upset and giving the cut signal it was when the veterans were being honored on stage and the mics were still on. At least in that one instance, I think he was just trying to kill the sound for that moment. At other times though, yes, clearly, guys were talking over each other a lot and it was annoying.

2. TJ was aving Mic problems and I think that killed the flow of the talk/responses. Young was pretty terrible at times and I don't think it was planned for him to talk as much.

3. This was a bad stumble on both networks' parts, IMO, all the cut scenes showing players on the phones and going to the insiders to report picks before the Commish did..bad "I'll scoop YOU" tactics..that was a turnoff to me.

4. I don't understand people criticzing the guys as hard as they do when, for example, Kiper says Claussen is the 7th best player but he slides in the drive. All Kiper is saying is that he's that talented. He, himself, says, these guys will fall if team needs don't match. can't blame a guy for that. Overall, all these guys know a lot...just gets lost in the presentation sometimes.

5. If you really want to get some good draft coverage, flip on your Sirius radio and listen to Brandt, Kirwin, Ryan, Schien, and those guys. Between them all, they know everything about everybody and they do a great job snagging the guys for interviews right after they are picked, etc.

I remember when Berman first appeared on ESPN in 1979. It was so exciting to have an all sports network. Unheard of at the time. I've always liked Berman, even though I don't like how he steals some of John Facenda's and Howard Cosell's stuff, but he had his moments. I think it's time for him to ride off into the sunset. He's overstayed his welcome to the national public IMO.

Can you explain this? I was on NFLN all night but this sounds like a pretty big mistake.
i just believe that the cameras and mikes were on but the gang was unaware. berman's gesture was to kill the mikes. they even had the floor and table lights off initially, iirc. they were just unprepared. it's a long, live broadcast and mistakes like this happen.

Oh. I thought this was a Keyshawn Johnson like throat slashing.
