Gruden resigning (1 Viewer)

Oh I seriously doubt they let it get that far. I mean. I really hope so, but feeling pretty good about my prediction here.
Your predictions aren't mutually exclusive, though.  The very opposite, I'd suggest.  The NFL will pay Gruden a bunch of money to keep the rest of the emails secret, AND the public will continue to think Gruden is a homophobic, mysogynistic jerk.
I think you guys are both wrong.

I think Gruden will get the Judge Smails special ("nothing and you'll like it") and the NFL will continue to operate like an organized crime outfit without sanction. The NFL is too smart and too powerful to expose themselves to a potential settlement.

Good point and great analogy. But remember, Judge Smails lost because someone with nothing to lose blew the whole thing up.

He should have demanded a recount.  Then stormed the clubhouse when it was shown over and over and over and over that Danny and Ty won.
But did they really win? How long can a ball stand still before a stroke is considered complete? Random earthquakes from explosions suddenly come through well after the stroke to nudge the ball in.

Who knows?  Kaepernick took the NFLs hush money and went away.   Gruden might do the same.

Since less than 2% of all civil lawsuits go to trial, its a safe bet to predict a settlement on day one of any lawsuit filed anywhere in the US for any reason. That said, from what I've seen, I think the defendants in this lawsuit might have a decent chance at getting the lawsuit dismissed outright. My prediction is:

1.  The NFL/Goodell will try to get the dispute moved to arbitration, which is a confidential non-public process.  This isn't really a prediction of mine as such - its pretty much certain and has been reported by Florio.

2.  Gruden will oppose any effort to get the dispute moved to a non-public forum.  If the NFL wins, they'll bury him in legal fees for a year or so in arbitration until everyone's forgotten about this, then negotiate a cash settlement.

3.  If Gruden wins and the case stays in Nevada state court (or even if it is removed to Federal Court), the NFL will first seek to have it dismissed for a variety of reasons.  If the NFL loses and the case proceeds, they will bury him in legal fees for a year or so until everyone's forgotten about this, then negotiate a cash settlement.
