Hey, I've been using propecia for several years and I have not lost hair, but I also have not gained.

I also use Nioxin System 2.

I think I'd like to try 5% Minoxidil. Anyone know where I could get it at a decent price?

I don't have a membership @ Cosco, BJs or Sam's Club.

I don’t know anything about the medications that you have mentioned, but I can tell you (solely from my personal experience) that I put a bit of taurine and a bit of collagen powder in my ice blended protein shakes and I have a nice full head of hair. Obviously, everybody’s health is different so I won’t blindly just tell you to try these things—but you might want to look into seeing if they might be worth a try for you.

I started taking finasteride by prescription about 5 years ago as a way of managing my PSA levels. Aside from keeping the PSA in check, it stopped my hair loss, which was a nice bonus.

So had the appt, dermatologist ran through the options and recommended propecia. Have you (or anyone else who wants to chime in) had any side effects? Dermatologist said could be sexual side effects, but also that the odds are pretty low. Tbh, my hair loss at this point isn't terrible but is starting to get noticeable and everything I've heard is that you don't want to wait until it gets too bad. But the side effects make me a little nervous.

ETA: also if the propecia seems to be working why are you looking to try Minoxidil?

I'll defer to the experts who have tried both but my understanding is Minoxidil just grows hair back while Propecia stops the hair loss.

Ok, this is my last attempt to explain this to you. You can get a prescription on Hims without actually going to a doctor. Answer a bunch of questions and you get a script. Some states require a video chat with a doc but many like mine didn't. There's a reason these sites are so popular. Telehealth is a real thing.

After reading the article it becomes clear. The article, as blurbed and in context, leads one to believe that there was no prescription because there was no consult. The questionnaire is the consult. Got it. It's reviewed by a licensed clinician and a prescription is written. I have no problem with that. Side effects should be up front, but that's a consumer disclosure issue rather than condemning the whole practice.

By the way, the guy at the link? Mark Millich? He's got almost all of his hair. That's what my hair looks like and I'm not chasing finasteride because of a natural widow's peak at fifty-one. That's ludicrous. When my hair starts to thin at seventy-five, then I'll consider it, but I'll be too old to care by then and my mind will be on different issues.

Propecia is preventing more hairloss. I'm hoping the minoxidil will grow some back.

I'm going bald, not too badly and I started taking those Hims pills which include the finasteride and minoxil (sp).

There's an initial shedding phase, but that's how you know it's working. The hair on my crown has gotten much thicker, but is still thin, definitely better than it was before. Hairdresser even said she saw baby hairs growing in.


The hair up front, I guess it doesn't save that but I feel as if my hair in general is so much healthier than it was before, that it seems thicker. I don't think there's more hair up front than there was before, but the hair that is there seems healthier.


I don't think I'd ever get hair transplants, but I know I'd be in a much worse place than I am now had I not started taking these pills through Hims. It was only like $200 for a 6 month supply. Seems like the least you could do if you actually wanted to attempt to slow down mpb.
