If you here about the status of Hakeem Nicks, please post only news in here.

Lineup decisions and conjecture, please go to the Assistant Coach forum and an unpinned thread respectively

According to beat writer Ralph Vacchiano, Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (ankle) and RE Osi Umenyiora (knee) are both traveling with the team to Indianapolis.

Both are listed as questionable, though this is a good sign that they will try to play Sunday against the Colts. Stay tuned for more updates.

Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (ankle) expects to play Sunday against the Colts.

Nicks was limited at practice Friday, though he was not held back by his ankle. Said Nicks, "Early in the week it was bothering me when I'd go to the right a little bit," Nicks said. "But now I'm going every direction fine." If you picked up Mario Manningham as insurance for Nicks, don't cut him just yet.

looks good to go

This is from 9/17 but figured it was worth putting here

Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks says he expects to play against Colts

Zach Berman/The Star-Ledger

Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks expects to play in Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts after he was in pads for today's practice, although his participation was limited. Nicks did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday while he recovered from an ankle injury, but he does not anticipate an issue before Sunday.

“In my eyes, I expect to play,” Nicks said. “Unless they tell me otherwise when game time gets here, but I felt good today.”

Nicks said his ankle hurt when he cut to his right earlier in the week, but he no longer has any limitations. Coughlin said Nicks is a game-time decision.

“We’ll see how he is in the morning after he’s done a little bit,” Coughlin said.

Nicks + Umenyiora are questionable. Nicks did some work during team drills today, Coughlin said. #nyg

Nicks expects to play. Also says he's havin no issues cutting/changing direction. The ankle "responded pretty good." #nyg

Well then you heard wrong. RT @AmpedFantasy: heard nicks was only jogging... #nyg

Osi is on the field in game pants. He appears to be a go as well. #nyg

On Mike's twitter page : -- Nicks is working with the second team in pre-game warm-ups. Mario Manningham is with the first team. There are no changes on the defensive side.

Translation - If you must have 10 points, I'd go Manningham, but if you have your W in the bag or need to go for broke (20+) I'd go Nicks.

glad i listen to the first post saying nicks was in the starting lineup. can't believe no one not even the announcer talked about the fact that nicks was not going to start and might not even play.

I know. Why even read? This is so unbelievably maddening. Every single source I read all week said bnot only playing but starting and now every single team I have will lose because every word written about this was a flat-out lie. :boxing:

I'm not sure how anyone can be upset by someone reporting what's been said. He barely practiced, was listed as questionable, the Giants have a viable replacement for a game in Manningham, and it's a late game. Why on Earth would you have started him unless your WR cupboard was completely bare otherwise? I benched him in five leagues. Even if he started and had a big game, the chance of a goose egg made it poor lineup management unless you had Manningham, a Colts receiver, or one of the MNF options as an alternative.

as you stated above, my choice for wr was going to be nicks or manningham.waited till the last minute only to not get the right player in the lineup. hopefully i get lucky and nicks gets a td catch but with so many reporters and announcers i can't believe they either got this wrong or didn't report anything at all

You do know that he is playing, right?

I am so glad that I picked up Manningham for a "just in case" Nicks was out guy. Right now I am losing by 5 points with Nicks in my lineup and Manningham on my bench.
