Handcuff Ranks Down the Stretch (1 Viewer)

Right now I believe Coleman, Rawls, Ajayi and K. Williams to be upper tier options due to talent meeting opportunity in the event the starter went down.

I was wondering the same thing ... if I've got a couple roster spots to stash some handcuffs, how would I rank who to carry into the playoff season?

These guys immediately come to mind for me -seems like they would step right in and provide great upside (some already have):
Lynch (Rawls)

Forte (Langford)

McCoy (K Williams)

Miller (Ajayi)

Freeman (Coleman)

Stud RBs or great situations but not sure if they have a clear #1 backup or if they're worth a roster spot. What say ye?
Peterson (asiata, mckinnon)

Ivory (ridley, powel)

McFadden (turbin, rod smith)

Who else?

I really like Javorius Allen a lot. Forsett hasn't looked good and I have a feeling he's gonna go down here sooner or later.

Most of the players mentioned here are already on a roster and most have been all season.

I've been collecting backups to older RB's who are being asked to carry a bigger load then their age would usually support.

So Bradshaw and Jordan Todman are guys I own a lot because I can't see two 32 year old RB's who are going to get relied on heavily holding up the entire season.

Rawls would somewhat fit into this group with Lynch not as old as those two but already batting through and injury and the kind where I'd guess if the time comes they are officially eliminated they might shut him down. But I'm not in a league where Rawls has been available in a long time.

Personally I own Coleman, Ajayi, Turbin, K Williams & Ellington. And Matt Jones who obviously isn't a true handcuff. And none of these guys RBS that are ahead of them in the pecking order.

After losing Foster and trading away Blount for Rivers early in the season, it's been a case of hoovering up as many as can be fitted onto the bench. As someone else said, I've also not been able to get anywhere the Wests, Deangelos etc of this world on the wire.

The suggestion of Allen is a decent one as well.

How about for people who don't have RB1 but have a spare spot on the bench?

White?

K. Williams

Coleman

Rawls

Ajayi

Allen

I thought I saw something about Allen's snap percentage rising recently, or maybe Forsett's decreasing, maybe both. Or not. Check before acting, but if Forsett is running out of gas Allen could emerge even without a Forsett injury. I don't even own Forsett but Allen is near the top of my list to acquire next week...second only to a handcuff for my RB1.

Allen's snaps have essentially doubled in the last two weeks. He was consistently seeing about 15% of the snaps but that has jumped up to 25-30%. He also has looked quite good on his touches IMO, he's definitely improved as the season has progressed. That being said, there are two reasons why I'm not particularly high on him as a handcuff.

Trestman cannot establish the run game right now. Over the last three weeks they are bottom 5 in rushing attempts per game. The fact that BAL isn't very good is definitely contributing to it but you can tell Trestman has generally shied away from the run recently.

BAL's playoff schedule is likely the worst in the league for RBs. Weeks 14-16 they face SEA (31st), KC (28th) and PIT (29th). Even if Forsett were to go down, I'd be very hesitant to lean on a rookie in a poor situation going against top flight rush defenses.

We were comparing Forsett to Hyde were we not? I said if you had owned both from the start you would be praising Forsett in comparison.

I don't think you can ignore the health of the RB as a consideration. Using that I can't imagine anyone more likely to have a health issue costing them time than:

Lynch/Rawls

McFadden/Turbin

Btw Starks already won this contest. But it could be won again, Lacy is now a handcuff, so add:

Starks/Lacy

The past week or two I've been hoovering up quality handcuffs since the WW has been bare by the time I can pick someone up. I have the ones with asterisks.

*Ajayi

*Rawls

*Allen

Langford

K. Williams

Lacy/Starks

Bradshaw

Hillman/CJ Anderson

Turbin or Rod Smith

Thinking Langford, Williams, Lacy/Starks, and Hillman/CJ have been gone for a while. Hoping one of the three that I have will pay dividends during the playoffs...

Not sure if youd call him a handcuff exactly but where does james white fit here? Does he have as much potential as rawls or some of these other names

In terms of guys that would put up high RB1 numbers my top guys are:

Ajax (highest talent and good situation)

Bradshaw (talent and situation but has mileage)

K Williams (highest odds of replacing his starter but also highest odds of being knocked out in his first week back due to concussion).

Are you kidding bro? You haven't heard of Adrian Jackson. ####### AJAX!

Seriously though, he's probably referring to Ajayi.

I was thinking Austin Jackson.

Robert Turbin...McFadden supposedly has a sore groin. Rain in Muami today and a short turn around with a game on Turkey Day could mean that Turbin sees the field.

Has anyone seen Allen or Todman play? I'm curious if they pass the eyeball test.
Not enough recent carries from Todman to form any picture, I'm afraid.

What I've seen of Allen, he looks servicable...comparable to Forsett as a runner, but neither are getting many opportunities or much to work with...and Flacco runs a lot of goalline plays himself...effectively, so unlikely to change.

Man... Didn't pick Allen up but how good can he be with flacco out now?

Ware is.now in the conversation too.

Allen was the only guy I didn't nab that was available in my leagues from this list.feeling good with turbO turbin, Tevin and Rawls tho. Great list guys.
