"Hannibal" the TV show (1 Viewer)

Show lost me.. loved the first season, and most of last year.... but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't stay awake watching the first 3 episodes of this season.. just seemed to be an over indulgence of .. oh look at the images and sound effects I can do.. not to mention the continuation of last seasons.. is he awake or dreaming this?

:bye:
While I still love this show, something about the sounds/images, especially this season, definitely puts me in some hypnotic mode that I can barely keep my eyes open.

Agree, I really liked 1st season but these first few episodes have been awful. These stupid slow mo images and creepy music please stop!! May give it one more episode them I'm out.

Great watching the intro start for like 2 seconds and then change to some crappy Boyd Huppert feelgood news show instead. Does this mean that season 3 will go right to DvD and NBC won't extort us into having to watch it on TV for 9 months before they release it? I prefer binge watching anyway.

Most likely pickup now is from Amazon, which has the rights to the first three seasons. It's unlikely Netflix would pick it up if they didn't also get seasons 1-3 as part of the deal to make a season 4.

Bryan Fuller is not signed for a 4th season, he has a show on Starz about to start up. So he's not part of the picture, or, doesn't have to be.

Also, the production company does not have the rights to make the "Silence of the Lambs" storyline that season 4 would encompass. They only have the rights to the characters through "Red Dragon", which is this season. So any pickup would probably have to involve paying for those rights as well. Presumably, however, Thomas Harris won't be able to ask as much for SotL now that a big-name network isn't involved. If he was holding out hoping that NBC would bring the money truck to his door, that plan is shot.
He had (hopefully has) every intention to do a season 4 and did not need SotL to do it.

So if you get the rights, there is an existing season 4 plan, and then you would ideally shift into that story.

Yes. Right now, we wouldn’t need Silence of the Lambs for season 4 and the direction that we’re heading.
There's a chance... http://www.avclub.com/article/much-its-characters-hannibal-wont-die-nbc-be-damne-221613

I deleted the last two episodes from the DVR without even watching them. The show just got too weird and I lost interest.

Mason Verger reminds me of Jim Carrey in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
"Sufer" (hard to form the phonetic stop consonant, plosive P sound with no lips).

It was also hard for Mason to pick up chicks after the "accident", and this continued even when trying the EHarmony.com dating site.

When asked on a questionnaire some of his favorite things:

1) Drinking tears

2) Man-eating pigs

3) Cutting off his face

Moved to Saturdays beginning this week, but whatever as long as it airs.
lol NBC hates this show more than Verger hates Hannibal
Can't blame them with the dismal ratings it was getting. Don't want to waste Thursday space on that.

So they wrapped the Hannibal part, and are getting into the Red Dragon material (the Thomas Harris novel was first made as Manhunter, highly recommended, before later being remade, after Silence of the Lambs, under the original title).

*SPOILER*

I think the part about Verger wanting to cut off Hannibal's face to use himself, but than he wakes up with the face butcher's face instead, along with the part about the pig surrogate mother were lifted straight from a Gilligan's Island episode.

Sucks that this show got cancelled pretty much right out of the gate after barely getting renewed.

Is there any word of it being picked up on a different network?

Its criminal that this show has been cancelled yet again.

What do I have to do to get it reinstated? Seriously, so frustrating.

Too bad this got canned, critics love it for good reason. Public doesn't like it because it's dark and convoluted, and it's kind of funny that NBC finally has a great show and they could never find an audience for it.

People that gave up after the first three (admittedly) subpar episodes did themselves a disservice. The Red Dragon arc has been fantastic.

Good/bad:

Dr. Chilton won't be needing lip balm any more.

Though he will now have a lot of trouble pronouncing words that start with letters like B, M and P, as well as F and V.

Now we need closed caption for him and Hannibal. ;)

One of the most visually stunning shows I've ever watched.

It was astonishing that a network (especially that network) took on such a peculiar show in the first place. Every episode had at least one "I can't believe this is on TV" moments that made me smirk with delight.

They went for the fences with this one and struck out in the ratings. Time to give the masses more pablum instead.

Yeah maybe they can develop a Army CID show to complete with CBS and all their NCIS arcs. That's a kind of show people would watch.

Yeah, and put some midgets in it, or maybe a down on his luck cop with nothing left to lose.

Pretty great final episode. Though I'd have liked them to have removed the final shot with Bedelia once they knew they weren't picked up.
