Loved the episode when he is having dinner with The head of the Loony Farm and Lecter says "It's nice to have old friends for dinner".. Didn't seem he wasn't talking about the two at the dinner table... Then the flash back to him killing Fishborne's trainee made you think they were eating her
The "head of the Loony Farm" is the guy from "Silence of the Lambs" he said that line about, too.
ah, makes sense.. I have a hard enough time remembering names of people I meet, remembering names from movies are a complete :whoosh:

This is really the only show I care about on network TV (OK, maybe I care about Arrow too, but not as strongly). I'm disgusted by Hannibal's recipes, but the show is just too good-looking and the acting of the leads too solid that Fuller has made me dread another potentially inevitable premature cancellation.

Hettienne Park (the forensic analyst) and Lara Jean Chorostecki (the tabloid journalist) are also nice on the eyes.

Good episode this week. I wasn't thrilled with the "serial killer automatically recognizes kindred spirit" angle, but then I remembered that it kind of worked that way in the books too, so it's all good.

It moved the story along, which is a good sign.

Nobody bumped the thread after the show aired, which is not a good sign.

Anyone else notice he finished the steel string-wielding serial killer off with the statue of the stag?

Yeah, he went for the statue and I thought to myself, stag over the head.

The cello killer seemed to move pretty quick, like when Hannibal told him they would come looking for him at his shop, he said "good" I'll kill them. It just seemed a little rushed to fit in one episode.

Always good to see Gillian Anderson too.

Just renewed for another season. 13 more episodes next year.
Sweet... I'm really enjoying this show.

Weird casting on it though at times. The Balls of Furry guy, Scott whateverson from Kids in the Hall. Okay though.

I agree with the marble mouth accent being difficult to understand at times... especially if I'm only listening and not watching the screen.

Seriously. I have to turn on closed-captions sometimes. A lot of TV sound design sucks, and this show is one of the worst offenders. It's a common problem in our industry... by the time of the final sound mix everyone's seen an episode at least a dozen times, so, you know what they're saying already so it's harder to put yourself in the place of someone with fresh ears who hasn't read the script and spot the trouble areas.

Phenomenal episode. When he handed over that drawing of the clock that was so unsettling. This was easily my favorite episode so far.

Interesting timing with the face blindness...with Brad Pitt admitting he has that problem.
Didn't Pitt say he thinks he has this problem. If you think you have that problem you don't. He probably just read about it somewhere and thought it sounded cool.

Yeah, I got chills when he handed over the drawing. Also at the end when Hannibal is "working" on the doctor as casual as can be then hands over the scissors.

Anyone else think the story-line of Graham and Hannibal being complicit in a homicide is a bit too soon? Thinking about pulling the rip-cord on this one. Graham didn't want to know the details? How did the kid die? Who's knife was it? I know it's a TV show by why go there at this point?

Suspending disbelief is being fine with the violin-teacher getting the jump on the two cops despite them knowing he's a suspect. Bad writing is Graham just covering up the death/murder of the kid. Graham doesn't check out the kid's history and see if he has a violent one? The girl is suspect in the prior murders wouldn't Graham want to know more? Weak.

I think they've already established that Will has certain blind spots, like Hannibal. And he needs this girl to be worth the price he paid in shooting her father. I have more problem with the violin guy than I do with Will making a poor decision concerning the girl.

And the kid she killed had his dna on the lips of the copycat shrike kill found in the hunting cabin, and he'd threatened her a couple days earlier.Everyone believed that kid was a murderer, and was stalking her at the time.

Not a TV watcher by any means, but into this show. Big time.

Except for the INCESSANT use of metaphor/symbolism. I know it's supposed to be a mind-#### drama, but it gets a little overdone

Just watched episode 4, which was also episode 5. <_< Found the actual episode 4 online (with Korean subtitles). :) Only a few more to catch up on.

Awesome finale, awesome season. As long as they have an end game, I'm all in. Such a quality show.

Dumb question but do you have to watch these shows in order? or can I jump in on any episode & start watching.. My on demand is brutal & I can only see the last 3 or 4 episodes..

Was looking for something to watch but not sure if it would be worth it since I missed the 1st 8 episodes..

All of them are here.

Once you click on a particular episode, you may have to do a little trial and error to see which stream host works best for you.

late to this, but the other, more encompassing new season thread by sarnoff piqued my interest and led here... thanx...

i think i read red dragon before i even knew who thomas haris was (before silence of the lambs movie blew up)... also may have seen manhunter before silence of the lambs (with williams peterson as will graham, directed by michael mann, he made a similar miami vice episode, and anthony hopkins was great, but i always thought brian cox made a more sinister lecter, being not so over the top - "just zip down that rolodex").... fan of the novel and movie franchise, i did like first two movies best, but gary oldman was hilarious in hannibal... :)

also like lecter in this version, first as le schiffre in casino royale, daniel craig bond reboot... also in Nicolas Winding Refn's pre-Drive (and Only God Forgives) viking-era epic, valhalla rising...

i think i'll like this since the thread has given consensus thumbs up to the writing...

below sounds like show creator's intention for multi-season (seven, ambitious?) story arc, with planned for seasons 4-5-6 revisting three of the four movies in the franchise...

"Fuller plans for the show to run for seven seasons: the first three consisting of original material, the fourth covering Red Dragon, the fifth The Silence of the Lambs, the sixth Hannibal, and the seventh an original storyline resolving Hannibal's ending."

first season avail netflix, disc only currently, not streaming...

workig through season, watched first episode of disc two...

it is amazing how they can keep on working in references from novels and movies with just line or two of dialogue or exposition per show... they could keep that up for years...

i wasn't sure if i was going to continue, but the episode in which laurence fishburne discovers a secret his wife is keeping from him (hopefully not a spoiler), had excellent dialogue, and sold me on completing season one and continuing to follow the series...

i actually haven't seen him a lot since the matrix trilogy... i think he was on CSI for a while, but i haven't watched that in years, and not since he was on it...

a comparison came to mind... maybe for the first few episodes i was sort of sleep wacthing at times, and not really appreciating his performance... than i noticed the gravitas he brings to the role (it wouldn't be the same with shecky green, for instance)...

when i went back and watched the first few episodes of miami vice, and they had the capatain that i think had been in chico and the man, i forgot james edward olmos hadn't always been the captain... and the episodes just weren't as good... they missed the gravitas he brought to the role, at some point in season one...

anyways, what olmos was in miami vice, fishburne is like that in this series, for me...

Great show. Well done and I hope it will last the full 7 seasons, but fear this is an acquired taste and the audience of a network series. They won't stick around to follow how in depth the show really is.

I would like to see it continue and MGM agree to allow Fuller to use Staring and Buffalo Bill, or the Silence of the Lams seasons will be a huge disappointment.

This worries me as well. I'd have much higher hopes (and expectations) if this was on AMC, FX, or HBO

If anyone at NBC has half a brain, they'd get this on Netflix and Amazon ASAP. People aren't going to jump in cold for season two, and if they do they probably won't stick around without seeing the story so far.

Learn some lessons from Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead.

mikkelson is a great lecter...

as noted above he was the villain in the bond reboot vehicle, casino royale...

also in viking movie valhalla rising (streaming on netflix), by the director of drive and only god forgives...

i wasn't sure about the actor playing will graham (liked william peterson a lot in manhunter, don't remember ed norton's version well from manhunter remake red dragon - original title of novel that started off the lecter series, before silence of the lambs)... but starting to get used to him...

one of the lab techs looks familiar, i think he was the from canadian comedy series (originally shown in US late '80s to early '90s), kids in the hall...

Valhalla Rising was one weird movie. Not sure if I liked it or not.

Mikkelson also played Sir Tristan (awesomely IMO) in the Clive Owen/Keira Knightly King Arthur (2004 I think), he also was Perseus's mentor in the 2010 Clash of the Titans. He's been in a ton of Danish stuff too - had a critically acclaimed one called The Hunt in 2012 where he played an innocent but alleged child molester.

Guy's a good actor.
