Hard Knocks 2012 - Miami Dolphins (1 Viewer)

Hottest wife has to be Tannehill's at this point, but all the quarterbacks have pretty smokin wives. Go figure.
The hottest one (IMO) is the brunette girlfriend of that rookie TE. ("You look hot as youshhhhh"... that one). And I'm starting to think I overrated Lauren Tannehill. There's something off about her. Droopy eyes maybe.

Don't get me wrong, I'd crawl through five miles of sewage and broken glass just to touch her hair, but she's not a "10".

:lmao: and agreed.
I wish HBO would bleep the profanity so i could watch this show with my 8 yr old son who is a huge dolphins fan.
Other than coaches instinctively losing their mind and letting F-bombs fly, 95% of the profanity is gratuitous.
It's football. They're adults. It's HBO.Not sure what the issue with profanity is...

The issue is millions of kids who are current or potential NFL fans being unable to watch the program., as HM pointed out.

It's a show designed to be a genuine behind the scenes look at NFL training camp. This includes profanity. The show was not made with kids as the intended audience and it's on HBO. Just because kids like football doesnt mean every show related to football was made for them to watch.

I know this is just me, but I've never actually understood what the big deal about swearing is anyway (along with nudity for that matter). Of the things that kids can potentially watch on TV I think murder, violence and reality TV is far worse than if they know a few dirty words. And let's not get into the fact that kids have seen the really weird stuff on the internet before the 3rd grade.

Your kids should be in bed by 10pm anyway.

2 years ago, when the Jets were on Hard Knocks, I noticed that they bleeped out the cursing whenever they replayed the episodes during the day, but they did not bleep it whenever it was on during prime time. I'm not sure if they are still doing that or not, but you might want to try to record an episode that is rerun in the middle of the day and say if it is bleeped or not? It looks like its on Thursday afternoon, might want to try recording that episode. Although, if a guy yells out Mother BLEEPer! I'm pretty sure most kids are gonna know what he said anyway.

They do. I accidentally missed and forgot to DVR the first episode last week. There was a replay on at 7 PM the next day and the cursing was bleeped. And yes, there is something slightly weird about Tannehil's wife. Obviously hot, but I think its that she's got HUGE teeth.

Yeah, forgot about her. Good call.

One of my favorite quotes of all time from these boards. Mixed well with my morning coffee to put me in the right state of mind to start my day.

So this is the most boring Hard Knocks I ever remember. The WRs cant gain separation. One WR is always open yet nobody throws him the ball. They like doing funny stuff to their hair. The coach has no sense of humor. The biggest loudmouth was just cut. The TEs cant block. One of the QBs in the 3 headed battle got hurt. Wow what a boring and terrible team. Yet Ill still watch lol

Seriously, what's up Philbin's ###? His reasoning for cutting him was that was his third strike based on a tweet and cursing in front of the media. He seems like a robot and was so nervous in that office with chad.

He would have been crucified if he didnt cut him, and he is being crucified for cutting him. No-win situation for coach. Fact is, Chad isnt good enough anymore to justify being even a little bit distracting, and he is too old to be a part of a rebuild anyway. He was apparently warned after the tweeting incident, he was warned in front of all of us after the press conference, and then he went out and brought unnecessary negative attention to a (now) high profile team. The negatives outweighed the positives. Cutting him was the right move, and props to coach for doing it himself rather than letting a subordinate do the dirty work (which I understand is the norm). And by the way, I am an Ocho fan. Always felt he was unfairly clustered in with the other diva receivers who were negative distractions in the locker room. I defended Chad a few days before the arrest in another forum. I retracted that defense. You dont hit a woman. Ever. No matter how much of a $^%&^$% she is. Knowing what we know about her, I can understand why he may have done it, but that still does not excuse him doing it.

This is a behind the scenes look at an NFL team, and people are complaining about profanity? As a parent, make a judgment call - if you don't want to subject your son to this type of talk, than there are plenty of other NFL type programs to watch.

I don't think Johnson ever was a bad guy and still don't despite this incident. He obviously made a terrible error in judgement. But at the end of the day - Johnson never learned how to be a pro. Being a pro isn't as simple as working hard or being a gym rat. It's about how you conduct yourself in all areas of your life.

I think if you were to ask Chad & Philbin why he is no longer a Dolphin - you'd get two different answers, despite Philbin being fairly up front with him.

With that said, this Johnson incident simply doesn't speak well of the Dolphins at all. Clearly, Johnson & Philbin were not a good match simply from a approach to business standpoint. Yet, the Dolphins equipped with a new coach trying to implement a new program signed him anyway. The public impression now is that a 1st year HC was provided an asset somewhat against his will, even if he may have kept his concerns private. Part of building a team, a franchise is understanding what you are trying to accomplish and despite the regime change, I sense now that Ross/Ireland/Philbin are off-script and not on the same page. Not what you want 3 weeks into the HC's first TC.

Miami Dolphins react to criticism on Hard Knocks

By Gregg Rosenthal

Around The League editor

What's more embarrassing: Having your boss threaten to fire you in front of your co-workers or knowing that all of Football America watched the moment on television?

These are the sort of questions that struggling Miami Dolphins have to deal with during this particularly juicy season of HBO's "Hard Knocks." The incredible access NFL Films receives makes the show what it is. But it has to make life uncomfortable for some of the players most harshly criticized.

Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman told tight end Michael Egnew that his practice performance was: "Terrible, terrible. I would cut you today if I was the general manager. I would cut you."

Egnew seemed to withdraw during the show. He hasn't made any impact in Dolphins practices other than missing assignments, according to the Miami Herald. Egnew was asked Wednesday about the experience.

"I shut my phone off," he said without a smile. "I guarantee any player can tell you the experience. It's one of those things that happens a lot because he wants the best out of his players. It just so happens that mine made the episode and it's ok."

Wide receiver Roberto Wallace's experience was arguably worse. He's struggled to get open during practices, but shined in the team's preseason opener. During Tuesday night's show, he saw coaches cracking up and calling him Roberto "ankle weights" Wallace.

"At the end of the day it's a show," Wallace said via the Palm Beach Post. "That's what they'll do. Obviously they pointed out all of the negatives which is part of the show. People like drama more than anything. They did it to Vontae (Davis) last week. I try to come out here and try to get better. Whatever criticism the coaches have, I can't control that. What I can control is my effort and my attitude. So I come out here with a positive attitude every day and leave it at that."

Wallace reportedly wasn't happy. We can't blame him. His response showed class, restraint, and smarts. Players have no choice but to accept the daily criticism and the spotlight. It's part of the game.

"Coaches compare, and there are going to be comments that are made. This happens, it's real," coach Joe Philbin said.

For these otherwise unknown Dolphins, it's happening in front of a national audience.

Philbin is going to end up as another good coordinator who can't cut it as a head coach.
Amazing analysis after having the opportunity to watch small snippets of his first ever training camp on TV. Guy took over a 6-10 team and hasnt even coached in a real game yet. You are already relegating him to assistant status?I still dont see what he has done wrong. What would you have done different?

Hogan is a local guy, and there were nice write ups about him last year in local papers, if i remember correctly. Great high school athlete, and was a top recruited lax guy as well as an all county fball player. Hope he catches on with the Fins, who also have Fasano from this area, too.

Chris Hogan looking like Victor Cruz the year they followed the Jets and Cruz became the story in their preseason game vs. the Giants.

The arrest just provided PR cover for Philbin to cut a guy who's past his prime, still has a prima donna attitude, and can't catch.

I don't have any kids but I don't get how bleeping it makes any difference. You don't think an 8 year old knows what the bleep means when he hears it?

Reggie Bush giving him the nickname 7-11 "because he was always open" was also great.

the Hogan story is a prime example of how political the game of football is. this player isn't a draft pick or even a well known guy, so he gets no meaningful game reps, despite ripping it up in practice every day. maybe im just a cynic and the fins are hiding this guy to sneak him through to psquad. But I expect him to get cut, even though he's done everything in his power to make the team. Meanwhile some worthless POS like Egnew has his spot guarunteed.

He can still catch, but would it have made for better TV if they show him catching everything in sight than being cut? All the footage in week 1 save one or two throws he caught, because that is what they wanted to show you. This week because we knew what was gonna happen. They showed you missing everything. Had they kept him and Philbin just met to find out what happened you would have seen all the practice plays that turned out in Chad's favor during the week, and the catch he missed in the game would have been shown in a different light.

It's funny, but Reggie's a thief. ;) I've heard that nickname going back at least 5 years. A CFL player, for one:
Brett Ralph will always be remembered as the little receiver that could. His nickname "7-11" was very fitting because he was always open. He was the guaranteed first down receiver all of his five year career, and he will be missed.

Agreed.Rookie TE girlfriend >>>> Jake Long's wife >>> Lauren Tannehill. Terribly overrated.

I've got to go along with Leeroy on this one as my gut tells me that Philbin is in over his head here. The way he manages the team and speaks to the players. He doesnt seem like he can communicate to them very well at all, so he just falls back into corporate speak and generic statements.Example, the way he cut Chad was poor IMO. You don't fire someone by giving hypotheticals of what you could or couldn't do: "It’s not like I’m trying to flex my muscle, to say, ‘I’m the head coach, and let’s make an example of Chad Johnson.’ It has nothing to do with that. "And you don't throw out wishy wash, non declarative statements like "I don’t know that this is working for the benefit of you, me, the Miami Dolphins or anybody else. I think you’re a good person. Trust me, I acknowledge people make mistakes. Nobody knows that more than me.”Just seems like a guy who's always been 2nd fiddle, never in charge. He may figure it out and be a great leader and coach. IMO, i don't see it

While I don't disagree with any of this, can we let the guy grow into the job a little bit?JFC... he's been an NFL head coach for 30 seconds and people expect him to act like Vince Lombardi.

It is my understanding that most HCs dont even cut a player - they let some other guy do it. If that is the case, I think you have to give props to Philbin for having the balls to do it himself.Firing someone is tough. At every level, in every profession. I dont disagree that it was awkward, but I also think its tough to fire someone without it being awkward. The only way is to simply have said "Chad, this is not working out for the Miami Dolphins. I am going to need to get your playbook. Please clear out your locker". If he did it that way, do you not think he would be getting crushed right now by members of this board, and media for being a cold hearted dou$% Bag that didnt give the veteran the respect he deserved?I have heard a few people say that they didnt think he did it well, but nobody has suggested how he could have done it better. Sure, he could have been smoother, but he isnt perfect. I dont think that means he cannot be a successful head coach. How would Bellichek or Coughlin have done it any better? The answer is probably that they wouldn't have. They would have probably had someone else do it. I dont state this as fact, as that is not within my knowledge base - but thats my best assumption.Haters gonna hate.

my buddy's nickname is 7-11 because he "never closes" (the ladies). great wingman, but terrible at sealing the deal.

:goodposting: Remember the Hard Knocks summer in Cincinnati? Former Bengals director of football operations Jim Lippincott got DESTROYED in the HK thread for having zero compassion or people skills when cutting players. It only consisted of "We're releasing you today. I need your playbook. Where are you flying back to?"
