Hardest hitting player in the NFL? (currently) (1 Viewer)

Taking nominations. Will turn it into a poll if we can get a bunch.

I submit Kam Chancellor. I double dog dare you to watch these clips and not cringe at least ten times. Perhaps the best thing about nominating Kam is that he does this without going to the head and neck. Few if any of these hits are fine worthy.

PS Vernon Davis agrees with me. After those two vicious hits I think Davis walked away a different player.

Sadly, this does not apply in today's game.

Every time there is a hard hit, the player is ejected, fined, and suspended.

Ronnie Lott wouldn't even be allowed to play in the Toddlers and Tiaras NFL of 2016.

I disagree. The game is still violent and we love it. Big hits happen every week and players aren't getting fined for them. Some? Sure.

Sean Taylor should get some votes, if you go back just 10 years. In college, he was also a hard hitter - ask Bobby Bowden.

If we're going back, Atwater takes it.  Ask the Nigerian Nightmare.  He might cry though.
Atwater makes the top 10.

But the hits Deacon Jones, Jack Tatum, and Night Train Lane laid out are still ringing ears today.

@Hooper31, won't disagree that today's game provides monumental unstoppable force/unmovable object collisions given the bigger, stronger, faster athlete of today.

But you should watch the old tape again -- those guys were out to literally maim, mangle, snap bones, headhunt, and otherwise kill in a way that today's players wouldn't be able to fathom, let alone hack.

Pretty sure I just heard you mom call you in for the night. The rest of us are going to stay out late and have fun.

And while we're at it... I have mad respect for these guys that know 100% what they doing and the dangers associated. These adult men choose to engage. They don't want/need your whiny commentary.

My point was: CTE hits hardest. That's my answer.

:lmao:  Yeah, they're #######.  I'm sure Kam wouldn't send every man, woman and man-child on this board home in tears.

Lott was mentioned, the USC alumnus, across town, I remember Kenny Easley when he was with UCLA (later Seahawks star, of course, had too short a career).

Bob Sanders and another USC safety, Troy Polamalu were big hitters.

First round safeties Karl Joseph of OAK and Keanu Neal of ATL once they start could make some highlight reels.

LOL, it clearly says "currently" in the title.  We all know the names of great hitters of the past.  The thread is toast already darn it.

Full Definition of current

  1. 1a archaic :  runningflowingb (1) :  presently elapsing <the current year> (2) :  occurring in or existing at the present time <the current crisis> (3) :  most recent <the magazine's current issue>

This guy knows stuff.

Freshman introduction.  "Killed a man in TX"

Pound for pound he'll be getting votes in another year or two.  This kid is gonna be something.  Reminds me of Dawkins.  Doesn't have the mass of a guy like Kam, but lays it all out and is a great wrap-n-drop tackler, cover man and has instincts for getting the ball out.

Big hitter for sure but what I really like about him is that he almost always keeps his head up and wraps up the ball carrier.  His fundamentals are incredible.   For a guy his size, who seems to be built more like a Bob Sanders, I worry about him trying to lay too much lumber because I am not sure his body will hold up to the punishment.
